what is it with the ovid hate especially in the Greek mythology subreddit you would think he murdered their entire family

No clue, but it's getting ridiculous. I mean, ignore Ovid if you want, but stop whining about him having the audacity to *checks notes* retell and innovate mythological tales like others (including ancient Greek writers!) have done before and after him. It's not Ovid's fault that his works became so popular that the most well-known variants of many myths are his. Does it annoy me when people talk about how, say, in Greek mythology Echo was cursed by Hera even though Ovid's Metamorphoses is the only source in which these two ever interact? Yeah, sometimes,but I'm not gonna hate on Ovid for the fact that the mentions of the Echo story in Greek sources in which neither Hera nor Narcissus play a role and instead Pan does are far less known.

The Greek mythology subreddit can be so insufferable, honestly, I can't stand it most of the time.
