“Welcome back, Sakura-chan!” he greeted his good friend, beaming once he could get a proper look at her. “Come eat with me, it’s my shout!”

The first thing Sakura did upon returning home from her journey was sleep. She arrived back at Konoha at sunset, fell face first onto her bed for the first time in four years, and slept until late the next morning. The next thing, after a well deserved long bath, was to go get something to eat. Her fridge and pantry were completely empty, after all.

Oddly enough, Sakura found herself missing and craving the ramen Naruto always raved about and made her way to Ichiraku. The village had changed in her absence, but she was still able to find the establishment easily enough. Sakura was not surprised to find Naruto already there.

She brought a finger to her lip before Teuchi could greet her and stood behind Naruto, then her hands reached around to cover his eyes. "Guess who."

“You’re right, I’m still a teenager after all huh,” Naruto agreed with a nod at not rushing when it comes to romance, or getting things right the first time or really feeling it.

“I guess I should give Sakura-chan some space,” he wondered, deep in thought at Jiraiya’s advice. “Well now you put it that way, I’ve spent a lot of time with Sakura-chan because we’re on the same team and go on missions together. Hiinata on the other hand…”

He wasn’t exactly comparing Sakura and Hinata, but it was giving Hinata a fair chance, if he got to know her like he does Sakura. And if he didn’t feel the same way without forcing it, then he had to be honest and not put her through what he was going through now with the uncertainty.

“Thanks, Jiriaya-sensei. I think I know what to do now,” Naruto spoke with a grin, glad he could be open about things like that with him, his perversion aside.

“There it is, let’s go enjoy ourselves!” He exclaimed as he saw the hot springs resort up ahead. It was Jiraiya’s birthday after all, he didn’t want to spend it with his teacher helping him with his love troubles. It was time to just relax, funny that would help him too even though he was paying for it.

Naruto couldn’t think of a better birthday present for Jiraiya, just a day at the hot springs to relax together just like old times when he was training him. “Wait, I inspired you for the sequel!? Jiraiya-sensei, I-!” He could really tackle hug him with how moved he was, it was truly an honour too.

“You think so? So like once I get a girlfriend I’d understand huh, that kinda makes sense now you mention it,” he wondered later about the Icha Icha. Well Kakashi was reading them non stop but didn’t have a girlfriend, or maybe he did have one before or was in love, who knows. Naruto looked down some at the mention of his own love life and candidates, things got more complicated than he thought.

“They are. I still like Sakura-chan, I always have. But I don’t know if she still has feelings for Sasuke or not, like for when he comes back,” he answered honestly. ”And Hinata saved me when I was fighting Pain, she has always been cheering for me I know. But she said she loves me, and honestly I don’t know how to respond to that, it’s the first time anyone has confessed to me before so…” He had always been chasing after Sakura, he never considered Hinata as a romantic candidate until recently too.

“But don’t worry about that, today’s your birthday! We should be taking the day to relax!” Naruto forced a smile, not wanting to burden him with his problems at least for today.

Jiraiya laughed and hugged Naruto back. He was glad that the godson appreciated his idea. If it was Ichi-Icha, Naruto’s reaction would be different, but one day Naruto will understand these books too. We need to wait a bit.

“There is no need to rush if you do not feel it. You are still young, you will have many women ahead of you.”

So Sakura and Hinata, huh? Sakura reminded him of Tsunade, the scary part of her. Therefore, it is better to leave this girl to the Uchiha. Hinata was sweet and kind and her breasts were much bigger than Sakura’s… But that’s Jiraiya’s opinion. Naruto didn’t seem to be sure.

“You should probably give Sakura time. She should either outgrow this love or she will just wait for the Uchiha. In that case, this is not your option. Hinata confessed her love to you? Sounds cool.”

Jiraiya ruffled Naruto’s hair.

“If you don’t know what to say, then it’s not worth answering yet. Give it time too. Take a closer look at her, spend some time with her. It’s hard to answer something when you barely know the person.”
