"You said I would not believe it. Plausible means that it is reasonable or possible." She watched his face as he excitedly explained the situation. She was well aware of the boarding school ever since he had first mentioned it. She had an almost too thorough file on the school. "I am very glad. I am glad that you are very positively stimulated by it. I suppose you should call your mother and tell her. I should begin preparing dinner while you do so." Standing she walked over to his bed, grabbing his phone and quickly returning it to him. "She will want to know and especially while you are still excited." Not that she really knew if his mother wanted to know or approved of it. As if she truly didn't care.
"…Plausible…? I don’t know what that means but.. nevermind that! I’m not exaggerating, listen to this—" Carson said as he tossed his cell phone onto his bed and sat down in front of her. "So you know that popular boarding school in Pennsylvania? The one my dad wanted me to go to? Well… I applied for a scholarship, for next term. And my recruiter called today, telling me they’re accepting me! I won the scholarship!"

Baymax observed from her charging station, thinking to get a quick charge before having to prepare dinner if his mother didn't make it home in time. The call didn't interest her after noticing it wasn't something that upset Carson. "I am sure it is something completely plausible. You are just exaggerating."
Carson had been spending most of his day with Baymax when he received that fateful call from a recruiter he’s been speaking to from school. That phone call lasted for quite some time- Carson even removed himself from his bedroom to continue it for an extra few minutes. Once it ended, and he heard of the good news, the teen walked back into the room. His whole demeanor had shifted. There was a subtle grin on his face. “You’re not gonna believe what my recruiter just told me…” He told his opposite as calmly as he could, still in disbelief himself.

Reaching out she pulled mostly herself closer as she hugged him. She remained silent as her hands ran up and down his back.
"I… Came back happy to be alive. Thankful that I came back a whole person. That was enough for me, you know?"

"Is that why you came back not the same? If you had God would you have come back slightly less wounded? I do not understand the reason... But I suppose I do not have the emotional capability. But it seems you don't either..."
"I went to war.. I watched men and women pray to a God and hold their rosary beads tightly before jumping out of a helicopter or storming into abandoned shacks that were suspected to house terrorists. I just… I figured if God wasn’t with those people, who could be more important than them?"

"Why do you not? Did you have a bad experience or do you just not feel a connection to a higher being or beings?"
"Oh, uh, my mother practiced Christianity. So, for her sake, I hope she’s in Heaven. I, however, don’t practice a religion. So… Wherever she is, I hope she’s okay, at most."

"I suppose organized religion is in large part a comfort for the fear of death and what comes after. I was curious as to what you believed."
"I… Umm…" Carson hadn’t expected to hear the question at all. It’d been only a few years since the woman’s passing, and he hadn’t really thought about what happened to her after her death. "I don’t know. Why?"

"Carson. I was ...contemplating. What exactly do you believe happened to your mother after she passed."

"Even though the festive season has passed there is still ample time to bake a ton with me."
