As soon as Shang Qinghua finds it, Mobei-Jun takes it from his hands and throws it over his shoulders, breathing in a deep sigh as if it relieved him to have it there again. If you miss it so much, why did you even leave it behind?! Shang Qinghua almost wants to say, but he is quite fond of his head, actually, and would rather Mobei-Jun not take it off his shoulders, thankyouverymuch. 

–Shang Qinghua is tasked with escorting the leader of the Yiling Carrion Tribe to Gusu, and it’d be fine if only Mobei-Jun would stop poking his (gorgeous, beautiful, drop-dead handsome) head in!

*Evil grin* here we have a delicious rare side of Jealous Mobei, Shang Qinghua doing something that most MDZS fans dream of doing once, and a side of shamelessness from our favorite ‘Lovebirds’ XD Not to mention how steamy it gets~

You Will Never Step Lightly In The Dark by Janusoverlord - Shang Qinghua wakes up in the aftermath of Tianlang-Jun’s rampage on Cang Qiong Mountain and has to navigate the delicate political situation he now finds himself in. Luo Binghe is building a harem with Shen Qingqiu as his first, and honestly most terrifying, husband. Yet, Luo Binghe seems to be turning his eyes to Shang Qinghua as a possibility as well. Excuse you? What is this? He didn’t sign up for this!

Let me just say, Luo Binghe does not know what he just got into; all mortals will bow to the might of our lord Airplane! I really did like this and I am tentatively on the fence about reading the rest of the series, because the writing is so damn good but we will see how my ship cravings twist.

With Ink and Sword by xnemone - Shang Qinghua is appropriately nervous when he passes the Imperial Exams only to be assigned not to the Emperor’s palace, but to the barren lands ruled by a lord known to be as ruthless as he is cold. Although his friend and confidant Shen Qingqiu gives him a sympathetic smile and a mountain of furs before he sets off, Shang Qinghua feels less than reassured.He expects ridicule, a harsh regime, even rejection. What he does not expect is for Mobei-Jun to take one look at him among all the scholars and servants of his palace, and proclaim him his.

Now, this is such a good story, I love it, is makes me feel happy and squishy inside with the good Moshang, and you know what? It has my new favorite thing in the world!

Good Vibrations by Feynite -  In Shang Qinghua’s defense, this whole trope was originally something he’d only ever written in for Sha Hualing, for precisely one scene.

In which I actually feel ashamed for forgetting such a treasure. Like, Feynite is a wonderful wordsmith, invoking so many thoughts and good shit with their words and characters, and by god do I end up just loving them even more then before.

This story passes the Vibe Check! (Luo Binghe also gets a Vibe Check~)

From Your Perspective by cozycitywitch - It was nothing more than a curse, probably, and surly the witch doctor could fix it? So what else was Shang Qinghua to do inside Mobei Jun’s body until the end of the night? He couldn’t be blamed for his curiosity! He was only a man! Or the one where Moshang switch bodies and Shang Qinghua can’t help himself.

Now, this is a lovely, spicy lime where while there is no big action or technical awesomeness going on, it does have some wonderful images; Shang Qinghua’s hamster body with the aura of a king, him showing off being intimating which means Shang Qinghua can indeed be scary, it is something that could happen if he has the motivation for it.

Not to mention this is just a hot story all around~ (My kingdom’s for My King’s POV on this~)

This is a really, really good A/B/O fic; it also shows just how tricky and sneaky our Shang Qinghua can be, as well as a mischievous side I just love seeing in our favorite Peak Lord. So, this is a wonderful subversion of the ‘Mobei-Jun courts/plans his wedding to Shang Qinghua all the while said man is unaware’. like, it is so cute and I love jelly Airplane; it gives me life. Also, one of the few we see Airplane taking full advantage of all his author knowledge and using it for the devious plans~

Another really cute Role Reversal I find I greatly enjoy, with a very competent, beloved Lord Demon!Airplane :D it makes me happy when I read it, I end up wanting to hug something~ It seems like it will be a slow burn, what with our favorite moronsexuals, but oh is it delicious seeing the buildup~

It’s a lot lighter than what they throw food down in. He realizes that today, he is not tied down.When he moves off the bed, he does not need the canopy post to support his weight as he stands up. The object on the floor glints in the firelight, and Mobei Jun crouches to pick it up. His face is immoving; slowly, he turns the An Ding peak lord crown in his hand, looking at the blood-soaked metal through the light.

SQH to the rescue! Alongside some good old fashioned angsty Moshang miscommunication but with Mobei-Jun’s POV this time, and some absolutely good steamy good times for all XD

we seal our fate by ketolic (corrose) - All things considered, it really was sort of obvious. Hey! Anyone can be a genius in retrospect. Hindsight is 20/20! Besides, who can blame him! He’d never written about this facet of Mobei Jun’s life before! Still…considering all the times he’d gotten his hands on Mobei Jun’s sealskin, he’s sort of shocked that it took him so long to figure it out.

:D This story makes me giggle uncontrollably, and still finds ways to unexpectedly stab me in the heart. I love it! Not to mention we get to see SQH be awesome! Sure, he flails around as he does it, but busts out the fighting moves and even fits a rescue in there! So good, so in character, I love every watery moment of this fic… good thing I’m so thirsty- (Is shot)

So I have a hankering for our favorite disaster of an author plz and thx. I went searching, daydreaming, and sometimes down right spelunking for some of that good Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky character fics. Did I also find some good tasty Moshang on the journey? Yes and it was good.

A Well Wherein Serpents Are Coiled by Nighthaunting - I am poison / And you will drink me / And you should be so lucky

Shang Qinghua transmigrates into his own terrible novel as a baby. The fact that this seems to be a world based on his first draft, where things actually happened and the plot did matter, is less than comforting. Having a second chance is nice, but ending up as cannon fodder and dying offscreen are the last things he wants to do. The only way to avoid his ‘canonical’ fate is to do as the System demands and try to fix his mistakes from within the world he created. Somehow this ends up with a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Luo Binghe as an An Ding Peak disciple, because writing about a kid being miserable and seeing a kid being miserable are apparently two entirely different skillsets.

The best, my heart will not move on, I am sinking with this story, it has consumed me and all I can say is ‘thank you, but can I go even deeper?’ like… it has the best world building I have ever seen for any SVSS fanfic, it is canon in my mind and I just end up loving An Ding Peak even more? like wow, I did not know that was possible. Read the fic and the only regret you will have is that you have reached the last updated chapter so soon.

pride is not the word I’m looking for by Tossawary - A Pre-Canon Canon Divergence fic. Shang Qinghua goes to take a self-indulgent peek at his baby protagonist son and gets a kick to the shrivelled heart for his troubles. Ahhh~! He gave up on changing canon or preventing character deaths years ago! What is he doing, helping his protagonist son’s adoptive mother like this?

This story, this story, was one of the two to make me so damn hungry for all the Airplane!Shang Qinghua goodness. It leaves me wanting for more. (Also, give Airplane more family bonds and friendship, make our favorite little disaster feel things.)

This series, by all good fiction is so damn great! I live for this disaster friendship of Shen Jiu and Airplane (and only shit, I shouldn’t laugh, but cockblocking Shen Jiu is not something I expected, but Gives me a mighty need, even if he made it his mission for Moshang to never happen.)

Probably the best fucking au idea for svsss I'll ever have and will never write because I'm a loser: "Platonic" cumplane marriage of convenience that is completely sexless but that's fine because both men think they're straight and don't want to fuck each other. They still end up with Binghe and Mobei-jun respectively.

Binghe was actually so fucking ready to steal a married man and had a fully detailed and convoluted homewrecker scheme and he is...kinda disappointed that SY is so efficient and amicable (or as amicable as he can be) in just divorcing SQH (who doesn't even really try to keep him from leaving) and getting with Binghe instead. But he's not going to complain TOO much...

As for Mobei-jun, he just demanded SQH marry him because SQH was KINDA bummed about losing the tax benefits and SQH was too intimidated to do anything but say yes.

Fun little SVSSS headcanon:

What if Shen Jiu wasn't actually Jiu? Like we know he was given a number name because slavers and all that but if he wasn't a baby when he ended up with them then he absolutely could have had a different name. And Yue Qingyuan might not have realised that if he had been with them since he was a baby.

What I'm getting at is Shang Qinghua messing up and calling Shen Qingqiu A-Yuan and causing Yue Qingyuan to go into a full blown existential crisis because of course his Xiao Jiu hated being called that and yelled at him for it, he's literally been calling him the name he was given by slavers.

I need yall to understand how funny and terrifying it is that Luo Binghe was doing his shizun's paperwork before legally he could drive a car. This child was filing tax forms and making schedules. If he had Excell he'd have been a monster of logistical paperwork power.

Like we have no proof he wasn't grading papers.

But he could have been grading papers.

Like this child for all we know was influencing the curriculum of the entire peak and his shizun would just nod and say yes to 90% of it because he's such a been so cute and perfect of course Binghe knows best. He's the protagonist. And SIR! That is a child. He's like what 5 and smoll????? What does he know about academic curricular and proper cultivation techniques??? You left him and a bunch of other children alone for like half a year and I understand there are other teachers on the peak. Senior Disciples and all that but where are they getting the lesson plan? Who's determining classroom funds? What was the extent of our boy's power????? Could he have convinced Shizun to start a home ec class just to show off how much he's marrying material and prove he's better than everyone else? Did he spitefully give lower grades to people who looked at Shizun too long? What is the extent of his power and how little Shen Qingqiu understands about his own job. Is one guy who teaches the music lessons just getting 40 students while everyone else is in a classroom of 10 just because nobody is paying attention the to the course scheduling or because they can't enforce anything without the peak lord's signature. are the teachers filing out duplicate requests at An Ding Peak and driving Shang Qinghua insane because this is the fourth requests for new textbooks this year. WHY!!!!!!!

And then Shen Yuan took a depression sabbatical for 3 years basically followed by a 5 year nap. He's not qualified. That man is going to sit at his desk. Look at his paperwork. AND UNDERSTAND NONE OF IT. It's been like 10 years since he even pretended to look at his desk with interest and comprehension. Help. Like he can't even train a successor because that would require knowing what the fuck he's doing.

you know what. i think the best part of writing shang qinghua is that i get to use ten million exclamation points. does he actually talk like this in the novel? bro, i don't remember! i don't even remember if he talks like this in the fanfiction i read, or i'm exaggerating my memories! but it's sure fun!

Little known fact about Shang Qinghua: he was actually real fucking good at flying.

Was he shit at every other aspect of being a cultivator? Absolutely! But this shit, he had locked down. And why not? Why wouldn't he? Wasn't that the smartest thing to work on? The life of a cultivator was fraught with peril! Anyone in their right mind would do their best at being their best at running away! Flying was the de-facto way to make sure you stayed alive!

Besides! The oldest dream of humanity was flight! People have always looked at like, birds or something, and gone, "Wow, I wish I could do that!" Shang Qinghua certainly did!

And that was why he was the best messenger on An Ding Peak!

He never understood Bai Zhan. Why pick a fight to get your heart racing when you could leap off a cliff into free fall? You could have your split moment of panic, sure, if you were really into that -- but then you'd land on your sword, and not, say, uncertain death.

Which was exactly what Shang Qinghua just did.

Incredibly hot take concept but ya know potentially maybe Pearless Cucumber wasn't really that renowned in the fandom. Saying this because A) it's funny and B) both Airplane and Cucumber are prone to wild hyperbolic exaggeration and dramatics and we only have their word to go off. Like fully consider what we see in the airplane special.

Airplane is specifically reading a forum thread and peerless Cucumber appears. Makes his rant. And virtually nobody addresses the rant outside of damn that's a lot of words. Not even op. If anything he's ignored despite the expert tag. Like nobody is making jokes about it being one of his famous rants. It's basically crickets.

If our boy was fandom famous that would not be the response. If anything... it speaks to him being DEEPLY UNPOPULAR. Like ignore dni. He's not part of the discussion. If anything it kinda seems like people are talking around him.

And you might be like ok but he must be some level of notoriety since Airplane knows him. Yeah cuz man has paying his bills and he sees the statement and every month along with the 8 pages of comments he leaves a day. For potentially 3 years.

What I'm saying is... our baby boy Shen Yuan might be bigger loser than first thought. Because do you know how bad it is to be the most online and unliked on a server or forum. It's sad. He's not even a mod. At best he's the guy people make jokes about living there.

I love AUs where Shen Yuan transmigrates into someone who isn't Shen Qingqiu. The ones where he is some random, no name NPC are really good, but my favorites are when he transmigrates into a named, major character in SVSSS. People like Liu Qingge, Gongyi Xiao, Mu Qingfang, Liu Mingyan, and even Linguang-jun come to mind as popular examples.

One I haven't seen yet is an AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates into Yue Qingyuan. Yuan? Qingyuan? Why has no one made the connection and written about it! Well, maybe I'm the first, and now I'm thinking about it anyways.

Maybe Yue Qingyuan had a qi deviation reasonably early on, and the System slipped Shen Yuan in. Now, Shen Yuan knew very little about the connection between the first and second peak lords, and he hated Shen Qingqiu, so I think the only thing saving that guy from Shen Yuan's wrath is the OOC lock and people being wary after his qi deviation. He definitely does his best to get Luo Binghe away from his abuser asap, and he works to get Qing Jing reformed, too. Bullies are a no, no.

Speaking of, I don't think the differences in personality would be as noticeable to most of the sect as they were with Shen Qingqiu in canon. Yue Qingyuan and Shen Yuan are both quite kind, and I'm sure Shen Yuan would do better on the lack of restraint on showing kindness. I think the main two people who would notice a big difference would be Shen Qingqiu, who no longer gets as much special treatment from his Qi-ge, and Shang Qinghua, who wrote the man and knows things are off.

I think Shen Qingqiu would be irate at first with the new Yue Qingyuan. How dare he treat him the same, or worse, than any other peak lord! How dare he interfere with how Shen Qingqiu choses to run his peak. How dare he forget their shared history, forget to call him Xiao-Jiu. It's like he is a completely different person. He tries to confront Yue Qingyuan about it, and of course, his worst fears are confirmed when he confirms that he remembers nothing of their relationship, and really Shen-shidi, you need to treat your disciples better, or else there will be consequences. He has let Qing Jing stagnate for far too long, and a poor disciple had to be moved to a different peak because of how poorly he was being treated. This would probably send Shen Qingqiu into his own qi deviation, but he can't escape this life that easily. And this time, instead of Yue Qingyuan being by his bedside when he wakes up, like every other time that he had a bad qi deviation, it's just Mu Qingfang and Ming Fan. That's when he knows his Qi-ge is really gone, and he grieves for the loss. Not sure if he is successfully pushed towards being a better person through this.

I'm not sure where Luo Binghe would end up. I don't think that Shen Yuan would ever let the protagonist stay on Qing Jing after his OOC lock gets lifted, and he probably figures out a way to get him out even before then, but where does he put him? Qiong Ding? Bai Zhan? Qian Cao? Wan Jian? Lots of options. He would probably ask Binghe where he would rather be. I sort of like the idea of a Wan Jian disciple Luo Binghe, who is trained in a way that he has much better control over Xin Mo when the time comes.

With Shang Qinghua, I think the transmigrator reveal between those two would happen much earlier than in canon. I think Shang Qinghua has much more reason to interact with Yue Qingyuan in person, as he handles the sect logistics, so they would have way more opportunities to interact. Airplane-bro would be the first of the two to catch on this time, especially since he has a very good understanding of Yue Qingyuan's character and knows that the man would never be this harsh to Shen Qingqiu! He probably name drops PIDW subtly during a one on one meeting, and it all falls into place. I think that the cumplane duo has the opportunity to grow even closer than they are in canon, as they work together over the years to try and shift things for the better, especially under Shen Yuan's insistence that they can convince the System to be more lenient towards canon. With Yue Qingyuan already knowing all about Shang Qinghua's treachery, it is hard to justify keeping things the same.

Shang Qinghua ends up as a sort of double agent, which results in the Immortal Alliance Conference ending with much less bloodshed. Yue Qingyuan and Mobei-jun definitely end up fighting at some point, with Yue Qingyuan winning decisively because of how powerful he is. He spares the demon's life because that's his Airplane-bro's blorbo, and he ends up with a demonic subordinate. It's funny how that works. And when the Endless Abyss opens to swallow Luo Binghe, Mobei-jun is there to steal away the hidden heavenly demon prince and keep him safe as he trains.

Poor Airplane bro would have to explain Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu's past, and especially about Xuan Su. Of course, Shen Yuan doesn't have the same emotional connection with Shen Qingqiu that the original goods had, so he's still going to treat him the same as everyone else, but he will visit the man to clear things up and get a version of the story someone lived through instead of Airplane's jumbled summary.

Because I'm a dirty cumplane shipper, YQY!Cucumber and Shang Qinghua would be the winning ship in the end. I just like their relationship and shared past, alright! Yue Qingyuan finds Shang Qinghua's silly mask of weakness cute and admires the true intelligence behind his flailing, though he still gives him a hard time for writing this trashy novel. Shang Qinghua already had a tiny (huge) crush on Peerless Cucumber, and now he gets to interact with his favorite anti-fan every day! He admires the new Yue Qingyuan for working around the restrictions enforced on them to get a better ending, his kindness, how cold and powerful he can get dealing with baddies, and loves to be pushed around a little by him. He could have totally wrecked or thrown out Shang Qinghua and avoided the Endless Abyss plotline almost entirely, but he chose to work with him and chose to be his friend. So one evening, after a long day of working together on sect matters, they share a shy kiss. They work through Shen Yuan's self denial, and become the sect power couple.

This doesn't stop Shen Yuan's wife beam effects, and most of the peak lords, Luo Binghe, and even Mobei-jun end up with a crush on him at the very least. Even Shen Qingqiu, after a long process of becoming a better person, tries his best to get with the new Yue Qingyuan. I imagine he is much more forward than SY!SQQ, which would lead to some suitably awkward moments.

Yue Qingyuan's biggest personal struggle would be with not using his spiritual sword. He keeps being thrown into situations where he has to protect himself, and the sword is right there. Despite Mu Qingfang's warnings about running out his life expectancy, he keeps needing to use the sword, and that comes to a head at some point.

I hate the fact that one of my favorite ships is a non-canon ship with a name that makes me want to crawl in a hole and die every time I say it out loud. I love fics of airplane/shen yuan because their whole relationship is so strange and weirdly nuanced. A parasocial relationship between an author and his hater both turned into transmigrators in the world the author wrote making them the only people that could truly understand each other in that world. So their weird parasocial relationship turns into a best friendship and eventually possibly something more. Frankly, I think it’s romantic and funny in fanfics when they bicker like an old married couple while also having solemn moments reminiscing about a reality they can’t get back to or even modern AUs where they meet up and Shen yuan gets on airplane’s case about fixing his writing and possibly even paying him to do so. but at the same time, every time I have to say the ship name, ‘cumplane’ I die a little inside because really? You had to take their usernames -which are both dick jokes- and make the “ultimate” dick joke?? Why?
