Latam fan and you’re absolutely right about rags to riches being popular here…but is less about latam sessrins all loving that trope and more loving that they try to apply that to sesshomaru. Inuyasha is a young impulsive rash teenager who acts his age and has a childish side. They don’t like that. They like projecting to the tall, cool, serious, emotionless, mature icy prince type. And if the person to melt his ice is a little girl then it doesn’t matter if shes a little girl…what matters is that they see a character who can get past his icy personality. Telenovela loves the sweet, kind, innocent but clumsy and a little dumb (easy to manipulate, but kind heart) woman who charms the older rich serious man who only shows his love his soft side.

Kagura gets a lot of hate because she is seen typically as the evil schemer witch who wants the prince for herself and does everything she can to make life hell for the sweet kind princess. She is older mature and aggressive. Meanwhile sadly there are also a lot of kikyo fans here because they despise kagome being young and immature while kikyo is the elegant cool older woman. So you see, image has a lot to do with that.

The hypocrisy that you have alluded to in the last paragraph is a lot to unpack.

They like to ascribe Kagome's qualities to Rin (though Kagome is intelligent and can use sarcasm if called for).

But at the same time, they hate Kagome for the qualities she does share with Rin (innocent, emotionally naive, sweet) 🤔

And you're so right about the telenovelas. It's the same here with our saas bahu TV serials. The so called vamp always wears make up and is often independent. That's where they're trying to firce Kagura though Kagura has never hated Rin or even tried anything with Sesshoumaru. 😑

The heroine is weak and a little dim. Don't know if you know the laptop washing meme, but yeah that's a typical soap opera heroine lol.

So in inukik, why do they suddenly start identifying with the "vamp". Is it because Inuyasha doesn't stand up for himself against Kikyou because of the guilt trip he was put through.

Sessrin is a truly twisted selfinsertion power fantasy (especially after Yashahime where Sesshoumaru was NOT wrapped around Rin's finger as they were all hoping and wishing for and she was the one he stepped on continuously 🤢).
