.... the takers are pack animals. Who will become close with their victims family. Did that taker try and raise dew at first but since they lacked the organs to produce milk couldn't feed him and we're so focused on him didn't take care of themselves. Because they still need to eat right?

No, Takers don't need to eat (can't actually).

A Taker would have no use for a kit, yes they're "pack animals", but they're not family oriented, they could not care less for anything or anyone's life. And while some Takers can be satisfied with only one other family member, it's few and far between.

Dew's bio mom was killed for her head, her body was left by the Taker after it got what it needed to complete its own body (as is the goal of all Takers if they cannot get a full body) - her body was left by the Taker in case another Taker needed something (Not the actual intention by said Taker, but it's what usually happens).

Dew, by the time of her death, was few days old.

The asks are about the askers trying to figure out Dewbat whole deal with the Takers and why he can't be seen by them!

Someone asked if kits born from Dew could inherit this trait, answer being yes as long as they're born within Chasingclan territory.

Now, some have made the connection that being burn within the territory means safety- but since the triplets, Sootsnows kits, were born OUTSIDE of the territory, they do not have this trait.

So no Dewbat babies. The current children are just not Taker... as safe.

Does being born in the Rift relate to how Dew, Soot and Silk think the sun outside the Rift is weird, while Glowfern thought the sun in the Rift is weird?

That has nothing to do with being born in the rift. The sun, when seen within the Chasingclan territory is just different.

The sun in Chasingclan is genuinely cold, it doesn't produce heat of any kind, that said it doesn't produce cold either, it's just cold in comparison. Outside of the rift, the sun is the same as our sun.

Anyone who steps into Chasingclan territory will be able to experience the cold sun.

(The sun didn't start as a plot thing but now it's genuinely a part of the lore whoops)

No, but many of them are in there, it's kinda where the old ones got dumped after the clans found out they couldn't kill them.

Most have dissipated over the years but a few are still walking around down there.

They were!

As said "generation by generation"— and hey, Silk and Soot haven't been taken yet have they? They've never been hunted, despite the multiple Takers Silk has seen.

Taker!Tigerripple hunted Silk, yes, but never once have Takers sought them out even though they would have been very easy targets many times. T!TR kinda just stumbled across Silk that one time.

Do takers have predators? I'm still trying to figure out why they need bodies when they seemingly have no normal animal needs. Like what is the reason they don't use their natural form.

Good question! Answer: no, they don't have any natural predators.

And I raise you this: why would fae replace the bodies of infants with themselves? It's just what they do.

Takers are my own little horrible love child, got traces of fae and other creatures as their inspirations.

Takers have their reasons to do what they do! But it's not for survival

Ok so based on all the info and hints, my guess is that the reason Takers can’t seem to perceive Dewbat is because he was literally born in the Rift. This lines up with the founders premonition, “Born in the rift, we survive and hide,” and the fact that it would matter Where Dewbats kits were born for them to be the same way. Just a theory though :3

Born in the rift, Chasingclan grows stronger. They are able to survive. They are able to hide. Hide from the takers presumably.

So I have to imagine that any kits of Dew's born in the rift will inherit...

I'd imagine there would be a way out of the rift- but if there isn't, this wouldn't be possible

So-! just to make it clear, cuz I am aware it hasn't really been: The rift is both the actual rift that separates the others from Chasingclan, but The Rift also refers to Chasingclan within the bounds of the rift. so yes, cats can be born within the rift, but not the rift itself.

Okay I think it’s pretty obvious that Dewbat can’t be seen by takers (so far) and I’ve just noticed the wording of the dialogue when he became a warrior: “silent fast dark and unseen, perfect little observers” in reference to Dewbat being like a bat.

I just don’t know why they don’t see him. Is it because of some starclan connection? Bc Dewbat can see ghosts? Bc he saw Glowfern that one time right?? This is incredibly intriguing…
