Project proposal
Project Proposal
The theme/subject of my project proposal would be “Food”. Specifically it would be culture food from different households like Hispanic, Italian, and Hmong. Being from a diverse house hold i have had many different traditional meals and would like to express that through a series of images from the ingredientes each house hold uses, to the preparations that goes into them, to lastly have a top view of a table with all the food placed on it.
(a)Explain what you plan to photograph, and share some facts and information about that subject. It's a good idea to do some research here so you can cover this thoroughly.
-I would like to do food as my subject because I personally am a big foodie and i remember the professor said to do something we are passionate about. To add on I truly believe that food is something that unities a family because it gets everybody together and when everybody is together , stroies are shared, memories are brought up and a sences of lightfulness is brought around the area. I plan to do three different Ethics groups that are from my family which is Italian, Mexican, and Hmong.
(b) Explain why you want to photograph this subject. (Relate this to who you are and your background and interests).
- The reason i want to do food is because the best way to someone heart is though their stomach. Its a universal language that is shared among all. Being a cook myself i see how much good food can bring people together, even if they don’t know each other people can connect through the tacos they eat, the deserts they try at a fair, and through the beers they drink.
c) Discuss how you'll make these pictures. Here you should cover your strategic and technical approach. Will you capture scenes as they happen, or direct your subjects? How do you plan to do this? How will you get permission, access to your subject? Is there any special equipment, lighting, etc. needed?
-I would have a stage/ strategic approach to the photos. First I would get a group photo of the different ingredients that would be used, and then a list of shots taken as everything is being prepared, lastly a group top view shot of all the food done and layed on the table. Because i have a diverse family, getting these traditional food shots would be fairly easy.
(d)Finally, share a bit about your overall objectives for this project. What do you want your audience to walk away experiencing, learning? Do you want to teach your viewers something, create an emotional response, change their views about an issue?
-In general i would like to invoke a seance of remembrance/community. When you go to any food place you see people all laughing enjoying their food. Is it the environment? or the food they are eating? is it the memories they have of the place or just a seance of unity?

My first time trying to figure out the triangle of exposure and use a camera unfamiliar to me and just find the right balance of contrast in each photo

My names Andres but people call me Andre because nobody can say it properly. I’m very extroverted and kinda radiate chaotic energy. I like to travel when I can but I always like to be in social setting. I got one puppy and her names nova . She’s a big dog but still acts like a baby so it makes things intresting. I mascot for a college (can’t say which one) and if I wasent going to be a GD major I was going to do dance. In other words I know how to “get down”, and if I wasent going to do dance then culinary was my next option. In other words I can make some Fire BBQ because I take classes on the side.
