one genre of music idk if ill ever like or enjoy is metal. like all of it really. im like a "everything but country and rap" guy except i like country and rap, just cant stand metal. i have had people repeatedly try to get me into it n its just never works. i love music and listening to new things though so maybe ill find something eventually!

i think my main issue is so much of it seems to lack RHYTHM. its like, just mindless screaming/singing to me. i have found some metal adjacent music i like bc it has actual rhythm (or what i think of as rhythm to it), but its never anything that would be considered like Metal Metal.

my other issue is how repetitive the instrumentals are to me. they are a more 'traditional' genre in how they tend to be set up - vocalist, percussion, guitar n bass. i like a little keyboard! a synth! a sample here n there! digital noise! non-traditional instruments! an orchestra! but they largely lack that variety so it gets repetitive when i try 2 explore someones discography

one of my musician friends said that metal is a genre that tends to play into its 'tropes' a lot and that i wasnt crazy for thinking it all sounded the same so i feel more affirmed in that.... i hate to be the person who says something sounds the same bc usually that just means u havent listened to enough but believe me i have TRIED. im like 15 albums in, 25 diff artists, and dont like any of it

also i find metal fans incredibly annoying im sorry. ive been seeing genre infighting for years and its incredibly annoying to me , like stfu u all like the same shit to any outsider................. i have some ok metalhead friends online but every metal fan ive met irl has been incredibly grating to be around lmfao

me and my 'friend' i have a weird relationship with were both going to take the same summer class. i tentatively signed up for it, knowing i might potentially drop it since i have a 1 month summer trip that could ruin my attendance. well turns out he also is probably going to drop it and im like! bc i REALLY like the class (its the sociology of deviance) and my professor said she would be offering it next fall too if we couldn't make it to the summer class. id love to! but i dont want to drop it & have him think im trying to specifically take a class w/ him. bc im pretty sure he doesnt want to be my friend anymore & loathes the fact we had a class together this semester. SO ANNOYING IM JUST TRYNA LEARN ABOUT SOCIOLOGY.

i had a 230 day streak on duolingo but decided 2 stop using it in favor for other learning methods (reading & watching stuff in norsk) now that i have a vocabulary of 2000~ words. however i emotionally cannot allow the streak to die yet so ive been spending my 10k gem things to keep it going LMFAO itll run out in like 3 months. but for now my anguish is saved.

my brain physically only allows me to have a media interest every 2 years because otherwise id be rendered totally dysfunctional.. i find it so hard to do school work or languages when i like a show/game/book LOL im better built for my research-based interests (linguistics, dinosaurs, sociology) Or else my life will fall apart

have an interview for a scholarship today.. i wanted to wear like a nice shirt but i have none n my sisters laundry is a mess so im just wearing a sweater. hope it goes well im pretty good at speaking but im not sure exactly what theyre going to ask. im worried my answers will be too vague or something because rn my career aspirations arent very specific, but im sure they expect that from most people my age? idk

todays actually been pretty ok. at least the last 3 hours. its kinda funny i slept for 2 hours and feel totally fine 8 hours of being awake
