Hello!

I'm standing on the same Thames south bank that John and Sherlock have their awkard walk along and am thinking of you all. Sorry for being so absent and for the last leg of Juxta being way overdue. I have had an incredibly busy 2 years - moving, starting a new career, my family splitting, and, as of a couple of weeks ago, stopping freelance work and starting my dream job. Freelance work has meant working 6 days a week, often 13 hours a day, which left me with 0 time or energy to prioritise Juxta. Now I will have steady office hours most of the time. My girlfriend nags me about Juxta and all of you all the time. So there may be more writing coming. I have also been toying around with an idea for another fic for a year or so now. Even if no-one is still here with me to read it, I will still always have Sherlock and Juxta and you all with me always.

I'm quite tipsy and my fingers are so numb from the cold I can barely type so I'll say goodnight, happy new year and hello from London. Wish you the best always x

Yet another silly question, when you were writing juxta, did you ever go back and consume the sherlock media to remind yourself of the characters seeing as it’s written over such a long period of time with longer breaks in between?

We are still patiently awaiting Chap 44 and I hope you know it will probs be a ballistic day when it does drop!

Hi! No need to call curiosity silly :-) actually no I didn’t really do this! In the early days of juxta I was watching and rewatching Sherlock a lot and also it just lived in my brain constantly because i was really in the thick of my obsession with it but it wasn't with the goal of re-familiarising myself with the characters, it was just because I was obsessed lol. But now with these long breaks I still don't feel the need to rewatch for characterisation reasons because at this point in the fic, my Sherlock and John have changed and grown so much over their juxta arcs that they really are so very different to the show Sherlock and John that I find it more useful to reread juxta to remind myself of characterisation than to rewatch the show. I also find watching the show to be such a big experience emotionally that I haven't actually watched it through since series 4 was airing. I only managed to get up the courage to share watching s1ep1 with my gf for the first time a couple of months ago and we've been dating for 6 years 💀 love ya! Thanks for /your/ commitment lol!

HI i have a very silly question since im rereading juxtaposition and im a drawer: one of the first things john does in his room ever is put on his bedsheets. I wanna draw something w his bed in it and i would love to know what type of bedsheets he has . Does he have space rockets on them? Endless possibilities . Sorry if you mentioned this somewhere in the fic already

clueda hi this is my first time using this so bear with me. first of all i just want to say that i love jxp it's absolutely perfect. well me and my friend really like jamie lancaster, they absolutely love him and we're always wondering what does he look like, or if you have even considered that. it'd mean a lot to her, thank you anyway 🕺

Hi beloved! Jamie Lancaster's name is taken from the ACD canon if I remember rightly. But I don't think I took anything from the ACD character but his name. Jamie in JXP is black with dark skin and short hair. He's maybe a couple of inches taller than John but not super tall. He has a big smile. And that's all I know! The magic of writing is that my characters can look as many different ways as there are readers who love them, so let your imaginations run wild from these few broad brush strokes. Glad you and your friend love him - he's a great guy!

Hello! I have a fair few asks in my inbox so I thought I'd respond to them all via this one. Thank you my friend, I hope you do the same this winter. Christmas has been a complicated time for me in the past, especially recently, but I have hope that this year will be much better.

With regards to my absence, full disclosure, I've not written a word of JXP since the start of the year. I've not said this before but since graduating my 2nd degree this summer I have (finally) been working full time in the theatre industry (NOT an actor, dont get it twisted), but as you may or may not know, theatre people work A Lot. I'm talking '2 days off a week being a luxury' A Lot, 'regular 13 hour days' A Lot. So I simply haven't had time!

But as always, I plan to finish this fic if it's the last damn thing I do. In the meantime, look after yourselves. I will learn to fight for a better work-life balance and when I have time and energy, I will write for you all once again. Love ya!

The vibes of this post are spot on. Like, immaculate. Juxtaposition does always feel like it has an autumnal sheen in my head, no matter that the story spans all seasons. This photoset just makes me want to fall into the world of the story and live there. Thank you for this, and for sticking with me all these years!
