For the next 24hrs I'm opening up my ask box for any questions with regards to my AUs - So Cries the Wolf, Old Forest Gods, and Tangled Strings. You can find all the information down below the read more.

No questions are off-limits! I'd be delighted to talk more about the stories and worlds and different forms of Sun, Moon and Eclipse I've created to share with everyone! Summary: Y/N is a cryptid ranger, living in the middle of a forest with their best friend and talking dog Montague. When park management decides they want an animatronic mascot to help boost visitor numbers, poor Y/N is lumped with the job of fixing up the crispy remains of the Daycare Attendant. Who comes with a strange, demonic hitchhiker….now Y/N has to juggle their ranger duties and domesticating the feral Eclipse entity who isn’t sure whether to bully them or befriend them.

Summary: Sun, Moon and Eclipse are ancient gods ruling over nature, located near a rather quaint seaside town, surrounded by forest and mountains. As part of one of their challenges to pass time, Eclipse sets Sun and Moon to the task of winning the heart of a local - enter photographer Y/N, moved back in from the big city to better look after their chronic health issues. Being wooed by a pair of wooden dolls was not in the plans.

Unfortunately Sun and Moon are also saddled with a nasty curse, and hook Y/N along to help them uncover a way to break it.

Hey there! Tossing a few questions your way, hope you don't mind multiples. ^^ For SCtW, what would you say was the most challenging scene to write so far? For Tangled Strings AU, what inspired the specific setting and setup of the characters? For the Forest Gods AU, what are things/behaviors that Sun, Moon, and Eclipse would absolutely not tolerate? I absolutely love your writing. It's so incredibly immersive and I feel like I am living through the experiences as I read them. Much love to you! <3

SCtW: most challenging scene so far was Eclipse and Montague's heart-to-heart during Chapter 11. Eclipse is getting towards the peak of his internal confusion, right after some majorly stressful events, and they're struggling in how to word things properly for Montague to understand. he's also very emotionally constipated, and by god that hurt the writing process.

Tangled Strings: for inspiration, I LOVED the BBC's Musketeers series

I wanted to be able to dig my teeth into that sort of era and costume design, while also retaining a level of fantasy that wouldn't overshadow the characters and rest of the world. having Sun and Moon as musketeers was the perfect excuse to go ham with their outfits, and then Y/N as a commoner/thief would act as an excellent foil to their respective backgrounds.

Old Forest Gods: Sun, Moon and Eclipse all have different preferences and tolerance levels for different things, I'll list some examples of what each can't stand below:

Sun: cigarette smoking, lip smacking, littering, lying (for good or bad reasons)

Moon: fishing, any sorts of thievery, bragging about harmful actions, self-deprecation

Eclipse: bad language, poor hosting manners, tugging/grabbing for attention, blase attitudes

Hi! Hello!! I am deeply in love with your So Cries the Wolf au. However, I am very tired and cannot remember any of the questions that I had about it :/

BUT are there any tidbits or fun facts about it you’d be willing to share?

Oh, I do have one question that I do remember because I am a big softy. Do we um perchance get to see a kissy under any circumstance? Because I want to kiss the demon boy gently on his feathery forehead (if he’ll let me)

oooooo so. I've had to think carefully on this one, for fun facts that might not be spoilery. here we go!:

at one point, there was a plan for Y/N to fix up the animatronic Roxy and Monty (as a way of delaying fixing the Daycare Attendant), however that was a massive push on their capability as a novice mechanic and would've interfered too obviously with the DCA plan (and also mucked around the plot too much)

I took a lot of environmental inspiration from my visits to the Lake District and Czech Republic. for the forests I hiked through, it felt so easy to get lost among the trees and I always got sensations like something was watching me. good inspiration for a horror setting!

as @pizzaplexjester has pointed out, Eclipse's smaller upper eyes are reflections of Sun and Moon, another part of their influence on Eclipse's 'birth'. however he can still move them himself at will, and those eyes can move in different directions, giving Eclipse a bit of an advantage in range of vision.

the wings will finally make themselves known in chapter 13 (I am so sorry for the wait)

also yes. yes absolutely there will be a kissy. in fact there will be several kisses had before the end of the story~

for so cries the wolf; who's your favorite character to write? do you have a favorite fight scene? (i think about the one super early one between y/n and eclipse when they're sparring is my personal favorite; the flow of action is really well done and the tension is so so good!)

i love that while eclipse is tied to them, sun and moon were kept as their own distinct characters within the fic! are there any fun facts about the sctw versions of dca boys that you can share that aren't super spoilery?

dose monty know he is the best church grim/hell hound ever in the whole world and he deserves all the pets and treats and forehead kisses on his big ole skull head?

for tangled strings; it's been a while since i've reread chapter 1 but i love love love the set up we get in the single chapter so far! the characterizations are so good too; you can really feel how on edge/wary everyone is (for their own good reasons!) and that it'll be a satisfying journey for them to all open up and start to trust/be vulnerable with one another.

what inspired the specific aspects of curse sun and moon are under? what's their relationship with each other outside of the newfound one with y/n? (soulmates with each other, business partners, romantic partners, friends who got cursed together, related in some way, etc? or is it undefined for the most part?)

So Cries the Wolf

favourite character to write is a tie between Montague and Eclipse. in the case of Eclipse, I'm literally putting together his character as the story progresses, he only truly gets created in chapter 1, and every interaction he has develops more of their character and how they'll go on to carry out further interactions. in the case of Montague, he's just the most grounded character in the group, he's here to try and keep everything together, acting as much of a voice of reason as he can provide with all the events that are going on. he also acts as Y/N's tutor in a way, and makes for a nice way to provide a little more explanation into different cryptids or magical events in the story.

favourite fight scene to write was Y/N, Montague and Eclipse vs Roxy. it marked a point in the story that took it just from urban fantasy to full-blown horror, and there was something narratively fulfilling about working through the first fight where it felt like Team Ranger didn't have the upper hand in the overall situation.

the SCtW DCA boys are pretty close in personality to our classic Security Breach DCA boys. Sun is more snarky and blunt because he's dealing with adults now and not children, and Moon is more withdrawn because he's dealing with guilt from being forced to act on the virus' behalf. although we'll be sure to get some gremlin Moon in before the story closure.

Monty absolutely knows he's the best dog boy of all time, although he might need some reassurances about being the best church grim/hell hound. give him lots of skull head kisses, you'll have his tail wagging soon enough

Tangled Strings

for the specific aspects of the curse Sun and Moon are under, I wanted it to be something two-fold. the first part is something obvious and physical - the twisted wood hand - it marks them as having done something bad enough to inflict a curse, provides a mark of monstrosity. the second part will be introduced in the story itself, but it's something to do with removal of individuality and any sort of control.

their relationship is one of the very best of friends. Sun and Moon met each other at a musketeer training school, were pressed into spending time with each other to try and balance out the worst sides of their personalities, and proceeded to make each other even worse in the best ways. they ran away together, hit the road together, have been running scams together for years now. the only blight on their friendship has been that they never formed soulmate threads between each other....until now.

ignore the timestamp ignore it. old forest gods vs snapchat filters, who wins? do their faces get recognized for ultimate "what is this mockery" reactions or is photographer y/n gonna be sad their little prank of. idk what kinda snapchat filters exist nowadays, babyfying the gods? or little heart or flower crowns or something. anyways yea is y/n gonna be sad when they can't confuse their new friends with the curse that is snapchat?

(any time in the timeline, doll or true forms, y/n with as much knowledge about their friends' challenge as you'd like to indulge)

as dolls, they do get recognised by snapchat filters! Sun is absolutely delighted - "what strange illusions are these? the mirror in your hand shows me with a circlet of flowers! how quaint! how delightful!" - while Moon is straight up confused. probably startled the first time around, immediately goes to double-check himself in the nearest other reflective surface. Sun has more questions for how it works and what variety of filters there are, Moon is kind of uncomfortable about the whole thing (except for the kitty ears & whiskers filter). Eclipse thinks it's downright hilarious, and needs to spend 5 minutes between each picture cackling his wooden chest out. expect your phone to be loaded with photos of him with different filters

in their usual forms, alas the filters don't work. mostly because their faces come too close and the camera doesn't like to recognise something that large as a humanoid head
