Among those arrested in Atlanta today were Noelle McAfee, Chair of the Philosophy Department at Emory University. You can hear her ask the PhD student taking the video:
“Can you call the Philosophy Department office and tell them I’ve been arrested?...I’m Noelle McAfee, I’m Chair of the Philosophy Department”

i need yalls opinion on something. So i got a new job right? and they gave me the offer letter and I've done their on boarding stuff but their contract is subject to my medical form getting approved so it hasn't come yet. Yesterday evening I posted about the job on my linkedin and my old boss said i should take it down and wait til my contract has come and all the formalities are done. So i took it down. But now I'm thinking like...was she overreacting? or is this standard?

Kind of obsessed with this quote from Henry Jackman, the composer for Winter Soldier, about writing the Winter Soldier theme:
“Because there’s a human element to the Winter Soldier that gets revealed toward the end of the film, the Winter Soldier starts off unrelenting and brutal and mechanized and almost Terminator like but the difference between The Winter Soldier and Terminator is that somewhere behind the wires and all the mechanization is a character that we know and we care about and that more importantly, Cap knows about and it’s very painful to him. So one of the things I ended up doing with the Winter Soldier was I spent literally ten days just on production with vocals because I wanted to get the sensation of a human trapped inside machinery. So I did a lot of vocal recordings and then processed the living hell out of them to get these tortured, time-stretched human cries of someone who has been so processed that it’s become mechanized at the same time but you can still hear the human in there.”

History of Step
What is Stepping?
What is Step?
Stepping or step dancing is “a percussive dance in which the participant’s body is used to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand-claps,” writes the African American Registry.
Step has its origins in Africa, as dancing has been a large part of traditional African culture for centuries.
Calling Step a "bizarre silent dance without music" has to be one of the wilder antiblack racist descriptions I've ever heard of stepping lmao. Anyway if you see the video, it's step!!! They're stepping!! It's a Black American form of dance!!
