Sorry for the major lack of non-cat related caps this time. :D;; But the cat really was the highlight of the episode for me. xD;; Honestly not a bad episode and feels better than other movie tie in episodes from recent times. Still a 5 though.

So I swear I watched this episode (and the other two I'm about to post) the week it aired, but somehow I forgot I hadn't made a post yet? ^^; Uh, it's Urasawa, so I think at the time I was thinking a 4?

The previous Girls Day Mystery was alright, so maybe this one will be too. 5!

Uhhh...pretty sure this kind of stuff would be grounds for Sato to get fired in real life. :D; Endangerment of a child and also pretty sure she's not supposed to do this sort of stuff while off duty. ^^; (Not sure why she brought along Sonoko in the first place?)

What’s one thing you noticed/realized about this episode that you hadn’t before?

Zashiki-warashi seem to be good spirits? They play pranks, but supposedly bring good fortune to the households they inhabit.

Have you seen the remastered episode of the fairy lips case? There was an extra scene at the end promoting the next movie, though it was funny that Heiji was dreaming of the fact he almost kissed Kaitou Kid. Though I’m surprised that crunchyroll posted a remastered episode.

I watched the brief extra bits at the beginning and end.

I haven't double-checked, but is this by chance the only remastered episode that has aired recently that Crunchyroll is *able* to post? They currently have the streaming rights for episodes 1-123 and absolutely nothing between that and episode 754. (That said I can't recall when 1-123 were added back to Crunchyroll.)

EDIT: Nah. Nevermind on my speculation cause that can't be the reason. Maybe it's related to the extra effort TMS seems to be making lately? We have that whole sweepstakes thing going on too...

And I guess this is it for our promotion for the upcoming movie. ^^; Guess they're going this route instead of making up tie-in anime original episodes.

For this episode being titled Karate Teacher Ran Mouri, I was kinda hoping Ran would actually be more involved? :/ She doesn't exactly have much to do with the case of this episode.

No bloodstain on the victim at this time--I wonder if this was meant to be a clue that Namisugi was lying during his explanation of how he found the victim.

The case itself is...fine? I'm just not sure why we give the title a focus on Ran being a karate teacher but then not really involve her in the case at hand. Feels weird. 4.

Episode 508, where Eisuke departs is probably why I'm not too certain of Conan's secret revealed to Ran will be well handled. Conan pretty much telling Eisuke he can't approach Ran with his feelings (and not trusting that Ran will remain true to her feelings for him). It's not that much different than how a jerky guy of the day would behave.

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaah. Not Aoyama's best writing. (And I feel he kinda misses the mark with a lot of romance related writing in general, considering how many times he's fallen back on the childhood lovers trope.)

But yeah the love confession. I don't know. I think Gosho did recognize the need to add some change and re-energize the series on a serial level, but tried to find the least obvious way to do so (VS Ran becoming another secret keeper for Conan). Thoughts?

I mean, it did certainly get attention, as far as I can tell. I feel Ran's not going to find out until the very last few cases of the manga, whenever the inevitable showdown versus the entirety of the Black Organization will occur.

You think when Ran finally gets to discover Shinichi is Conan that Gosho will really address the anguish his secrecy causes (between keeping her in the dark and making her doubt her instincts)? I'd like to think yes, but comic timeline or no, it just feels like it will be glossed over for a rushed happy ending.

Pretty sure we're going to have to rely on fanfiction to get the in depth characterization that we're looking for. ^^; Aoyama no doubt will get a happy ending in the manga but probably not go as in depth on the angst/anguish/drama, imo.

Detective conan have such amazing and catchy opening and ending songs

My favorite opening is Koi wa Thrill, Shock, Suspense...I love seeing shinichi dabbing while dancing

And my favorite ending is free magic it's so catchy :D

Ah, good question!

My favorite band is B'z, and they got some really good animation from the get go for once with Opening 43, "Sekai wa Anata no Iro ni Naru". (For some reason in the past it felt like we got an awesome B'z song...but then the animation would be "meh".)

As for endings, I'm partial to the first 3 overall, "STEP BY STEP", "Meikyuu no Lovers", and "Hikari to Kage no Roman".

You think shinichi/conan have watched the Sherlock Holmes movies and shows? I mean other famous celebrities had been Mentioned in the case closed universe before like Harrison Ford and brad Pitt...I wanna know what's his opinion on rdj or Cumberbatch's performance... It probably won't happen but I hope gosho do it in the future just for Funzies....I feel he probably don't like any of it lol xD

Oh, maybe! :o I'd be very surprised if Shin'ichi wasn't on top of anything and everything Holmes related. He might not get around to reading say every piece of Holmes published works that weren't written by Conan Doyle, but I'm sure he would've at least been aware of mainstream media like the RDJ films and BBC Sherlock.

Oh wow. Not sure if my emotions are just out of whack, or if the writing was actually good this time, but this and the message from his mom made me cry? ;-; He still loved Arisa and wanted to protect her.

Least Favorite Moment:

What’s one thing you noticed/realized about this episode that you hadn’t before?

At first I wondered why no one pointed out Arisa having been to the restaurant before based on this picture we see on the wall, but I realized later that since Marcello's mom is in the picture, it's quite possible this was taken during a trip to Italy and that this isn't the same restaurant in the picture.

Just a translation note, I wonder why the Crunchyroll translator went with calling the dish "squid fritters" instead of "fried calamari"? I can't say I've ever heard this dish called "squid fritters". I know Ran uses the term "fritter", but I thought Crunchyroll tended to do more localization style translations. Maybe not?

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this episode?

For the fact it actually made me cry which is an emotion I don't usually have watching Conan I'll give it a 7.

Episode 1111-1112: "Rube Goldberg Machine”

Before watching this episode, on a scale of 1-10, how much are you looking forward to seeing it again?

Rube Goldberg machines are entertaining, but using one for a murder seems...uh...? 4.

Conan: "If we had a nickel for every time a case ended up involving a raccoon, we'd have two nickels! Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice."

Favorite Moment:

The end scene was cute. I like Kogoro's happy face upon Ran's remark that Kogoro was cool and she wishes Eri could've seen Kogoro's act of saving Nanako.

Least Favorite Moment:

Uhhhh...what on Earth was the writer thinking for this scene? Teshima has no reason to believe Conan to be anything more than a 6 year old kid yet she's talking to him like he's a detective out of a film noir. O_o;; And then immediately following this scene, she has an argument with Kawamoto openly regarding what's going on.

What’s one thing you noticed/realized about this episode that you hadn’t before?

The Rube Goldberg Machine references in order are Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times", Back to the Future Part 1, and PythagoraSwitch, known for it's "Pi-ta-go-ra Su-i-chi" jingle at the end of each machine.

Jesus Christ, Ran. How strong are you?

Mentsuyu is a noodle soup base using in Japanese cooking specifically for soba and udon dishes. Can't say I've tried it, but now I'm curious!
