Everyone else at Marineford, pirate or Warlord or Marine, was shaking in their boots in fear and awe when Emperor Red-Haired Shanks showed up. But not Buggy. Buggy interacts with Shanks so familiarly, maybe not as a friend but as an absolute equal.
And Shanks allows it! He openly displays happiness at this stupid nobody clown's stubborn refusal to treat him like a god. He lets him tug on his lapels, insult him, yell in his face, threaten him, and argues right back with Buggy like they're kids again.
"You wouldn't know by looking at him, but that Blackbeard is quite the thinker." -Donquixote Dolflamingo, like 5 minutes after I made this post
Blackbeard's intelligence and ability to plan several steps ahead (weeks, months, or even years into the future) makes him a far more dangerous opponent than his Devil Fruit alone does. This makes him a natural foil for Luffy, who acts on impulse and rarely sticks to a complex plan. Even more interestingly, his character design and personality hides his cunning nature from the characters, but also the audience. Most of the time, a character who is very large (in height and weight), hairy, tackily dressed, missing teeth, and with rough manners is NOT someone who has intelligence as a dominant character trait.

Real tea if you're somebody that constantly tramples all over ADHD people's joy by telling us to "calm down" and making fun of us when we're happy and excited about something, I genuinely hate you.
when one piece said "existing is not a crime" and when it said "thank you for loving me" and when it said "tell me you want to live" and when it said "being alone is worse than being hurt" and when it said "you're my friend" and when it said "someday you will find kind people" and when it said "there are people out there who will love you" and when it said
Shanks, who's spent 22 years trying to convince himself that he's moved on, that he barely remembers the kid he grew up with. Shanks, who scoffs and says that he hasn't thought about Buggy in decades. Shanks, who had managed to fool even himself into believing that he'd forgotten about his first love and filled the ragged hole inside his heart with booze and victories.
Shanks at Marineford, who finally laid eyes again on the face that he once knew as well as his own, worn by time and the sea but still one he'd recognize anywhere.
rewatching Zou and thinking about how the Heart Pirates really wanted to meet Luffy but Law had almost immediately asked Luffy to talk in private and the Heart Pirates were all like "not cool captain come on” and giving thumbs down to him.
i know this is a stretch but
Luffy and Law weren’t together for maybe a couple hours, maybe a day at most???? and Law is already stealing Luffy away like they didn’t just an arc and filler together lmao. Law’s crew just wanted to meet his boyfriend😭 and hang out with him, the last time they saw Luffy, he was like half dead you know? this is good blackmail material for them though, Law being all clingy is adorable as hell.
Vampire whimpering and moaning while he drinks your blood and he gets all breathless as he tells you how good you taste and also he’s jacking off the whole time. Think about it.
Sure, Sanji didn't leave the Kamabaka Kingdom still wearing a dress, makeup, and stilettos. But you know what he did take away with him?
Suits and shirts that fit him better, with better cuts and more interesting/varied colors and details. Cuban-heeled boots. Hair that's longer and styled in a more flattering way and facial hair that's groomed more thoughtfully. More accessories (gloves, belts, a wider variety of ties, etc.) that complement his outfits. He even wears his tie differently, often looser around his neck with the top button of his shirt open (because he knows he has a nice neck and collarbones). Most importantly, he seems more genuinely comfortable in his clothes and wears them like a confident man, not like a boy trying desperately to prove his masculinity.
