okay i’m running super late for my appointment but remind me to post about the black dog cause i got so much shit to say

thinking of “the sickest army doll/purchased at the mall/rivulets descend my plastic smile/but you should've seen him when he first got me” because if we think of how taylor was back in 2016, fighting for her life even before the phone call and towards the end of 2022 with “fighting in only your army/front lines don’t you ignore me”, she was always on the brink of breaking. but these guys came at her worst, swept her off her feet and helped her when she needed it, and she thought it was forever. so she of course doesn’t care if they’re playing with her to rough or breaking her in different ways, she’s been through worse before she can handle this.

and with “i’m queen of sandcastles he destroys” it saying that she doesn’t care if he’s ruining her fun or their future cause she was once number 1 so she can build it again. he destroys the sandcastles and she can rebuild it, but sand is so fragile and can break easily… they fit together like puzzle pieces… he saw a future so he smashed it up… but it’s okay! you should’ve seen her when they first got her! she’s better now!

Im not gonna pretend like I fully know what Cassandra is about but it DOES remind me of a point I’ve been making for years on the Kanye front. I cannot recall a time in Kanyes fame that he hasn’t been a misogynist. But it always gets excused away as “thats just rap” or “thats just celebrity drama”. Its not taken seriously because our society is still so deeply patriarchal that being sexist doesn’t really raise red flags unless you are blatantly calling for womens rights to be stripped away. Not even his extremely creepy wax doll thing seemed to make much of an impression.

And then he started saying weird racist things. And publicly harassing his ex wife. And reeeaaally digging in on his antisemitism. And everyone is suddenly like “whoa he’s terrible how did it come to this” and its like…hmmm if only you had listened to the women, one of which being Taylor Swift, that his misogyny should not be normalized and was actually harmful. If only we would start seeing disdain of women as an early red flag to other bigotry.

Im not saying the song is about Kanye Im just using that as an example of the overall theme of the song that is like…I tried to warn yall and you called me too sensitive and said I was actually the problem for pointing out a symptom of a deeper problem. And now that that problem is rearing its head youre all acting surprised. Extremely frustrating, and something that marginalized groups and “social justice warriors” deal with a lot I think. Very interesting.

When Ed hits the legal drinking age, the whole Amestris gang (sans Al who's not old enough) goes to a nice bar. Mustang buys him his first ever shot and pretends he'd done so to be Nice (he is NEFARIOUSLY peer pressuring Ed into having straight vodka as his first drink because he thinks Ed's gonna spit all over the table). Fuery sees what his boss is doing and kindly warns Ed it goes down easier if he drinks as fast as possible.

They all watch in horror as he throws it back like water. Havoc screams "HE'S DONE THIS BEFORE" (he hasn't)
