“I hate to break it to you,” he said, rolling a near-empty pint glass between his hands, “but you’re not going to be paying your rent with that.” Peter debated pausing for effect, arching an eyebrow, tilting his chin, waiting for her to challenge him. But he’d heard the earnest exasperation in her voice; he was all too familiar with it himself. “Unless you’ve earned ninety-three pounds. Which is, like, seventy bucks. Might even be able to afford heating.”

He put the glass down on a table and pushed his hair out of his eyes. “I’ll trade you,” he said. “I haven’t seen sunlight since October and I’ve made--” He dug through his pockets, displaying the contents: a crumpled Tesco receipt; an empty pack of gum; a 20p coin; his lab ID; a lone, lint-covered Strepsil. Shit. No wallet. “I will pay for the beer, I promise.”

gonna be honest here i don’t think i’ve watched an episode of teen wolf since...... season 5? we’re working on memories and vibes here we rally

Lydia was born brilliant and beautiful, and learned early that she could leverage one to get by; everyone seemed too confused by the prospect of a prom queen with a genius-level IQ. So she hid behind her looks and designer shoes and expensive floral dresses and a thick layer of snark; she dated the high school quarterback and never let on that she was on track to be valedictorian.

Her parents’ marriage was... rocky at best, and Lydia learned to put her walls up young. Real relationships only hurt. Emotional intimacy ended in tears. When they finally split, years too late, the damage was done, but her father landed one final blow by asking Lydia to choose a parent to live with. She picked her mother.

Born and raised in Beacon Hills, she always planned to leave. The town was too small, the world was too big, she was too trapped, too desperate for something more. She was going to win the Fields Medal, goddammit. She was going to graduate summa cum laude from MIT. She was going to change the world, and she would do it somewhere they didn’t know her as the high school mean girl.

And then, of course, there were the monsters. The visions, the nightmares, the time spent in a fugue state wandering the woods naked (high school was fun!), eventually learning that she was a banshee--a wailing woman, a harbinger of death. Great and good for her emotional well-being!

tl;dr Lydia is not nearly as stable as she tries to let on--she’s been doing much better after putting some mileage between herself and Beacon Hills, but she’s never too far from a collapse

She’s now working in R&D (?) studying applications of sound wave technology (? idk something sciencey)

i’m drawing peter from the comics, probably mainly ca the coffee gang era TM (like. early 80s. lol. we roll with it.). he’s pretty different from the movie versions! absolute disaster, absolute menace, absolute asshole, absolute self-loathing, etc etc i can rant about this for ages

he’s currently a graduate student at imperial college london! after completing his undergrad in new york, he secured funding to get a phd and work with dr curt connors on..... idk something sciencey (he thinks)

he hates london. i’m sorry. it’s not new york. this is a Big Deal. he’s awful.

pete remembers the basic outline of his early life: his parents died when he was young; he was raised by his aunt may and uncle ben in queens; ben died in a robbery when he was a teenager; he and may had to stick together in the wake of it. he doesn’t remember anything about becoming spider-man. as far as he knows, he’s just a guy, you know? a scientist. a bit of a mess, but not nearly as bad as it could be.

this means he has no memory of powers, of knowing he could have saved ben, of losing gwen, of anything that’s happened since! he knows he’s a little stronger than he should be given how little he works out, but that’s about it?

he is, by peter parker standards, surprisingly well-adjusted and ok! wow! an absolute miracle! would be such a horrible shame if he got back his memories and absolutely ruined that wouldn’t it!

i am extremely passionate about jewish peter parker–he’s not especially observant, but it’s culturally very important to his identity

peter also deals with pretty extensive trauma, mental illness, and anger issues, but copes with it all through bad jokes and punching criminals – i am fascinated by 616 peter’s generally unhinged menacing aura; he’s a good person, but he’s not a particularly nice person; he’s incredibly smart and often arrogant and standoffish and quick to anger, but he tries really, really hard to do better
