horizon: forbidden west starters
â it wonât be long before we hit the point of no return. â Â
â every night, i have the same dream. â Â
â iâve been tracking you a long way. â Â
â you know what they say. if you want something done right, do it yourself. â Â
â what happened next wasâŠnot something i like to remember. â Â
â and for a moment, i feel whole. but it never lasts. â Â
â weâll camp out here until we get our strength back up. â Â
â you know i hate being called that. â Â
â all i have left are the screams of those long dead and an unending rage. show me where to bury it. â Â
â vengeance? no. i wanted devastation. â Â
â well, you may lack sense â but you donât lack courage. â Â
â you canât ignore it forever. memories always come back. â Â
â my world stopped revolving around you months ago. â Â
â i thought soothing the suffering of others would somehow appease my own. â Â
â iâm not much for parties. â Â
â i was thinking we could spar for a bit. when you have the time. â Â
â there is something about you that doesnât seem natural. â Â
â itâs not like everyone can be born with a sword glued to their hand. â Â
â the last thing i wanted was to worry you. â
â any scrap of hope is better than nothing. â Â
â i know what itâs like when your family looks down on you. â Â Â
â i didnât think i was that well-known. â Â
â i hope you donât hold it against me. â Â
â you know that special part of us that makes us warm, kind, welcoming? you were born without that. â Â
â iâm sorry you had to go through that. â Â
â speak the truth. plain and simple. â Â
â youâre stuck with me now â like bark on wood. â Â
â if the end of the worldâs coming, i donât wanna be sober for it. â Â
â iâm no stranger to hardship. â Â
â ah, nothingâŠyou just look good, thatâs all. â Â
â arenât you a jewel in a junk heap? â Â
â they say the only thing that makes a cold brew go down easier is a tale of times gone by. â
â tell me what happened. step by step. â Â
â forget what you think you know about me. â Â
â i dread to think what wouldâve happened if you hadnât shown up. â Â
â you can try to hide it, but inside, youâre as soft as a silk pillow. â Â
â youâre going on without me, arenât you? â Â
â oh, a feeling? you mean you finally had one? â Â
â we need a lot more than eager hearts to win. â Â
â the company you keep is even worse than i thought. â Â
â you are unhappy. good. â Â
â what about you? will time heal your wounds? â Â
â so this is it? after everything weâve been throughâŠthis is goodbye? â
â iâm not here to fight for you. â Â
â you must succeed or this was all for nothing. â Â Â Â
â i canât claim to understand. only empathize. â Â
â trust me. i know what iâm doing. â Â
â i got a couple of scrapes on the way here. â Â
â shh nowâŠeverything will be fine. â Â
â whatâs wrong? is it your injury? â Â
â i hope all is well enough under the circumstances. â Â
â i gotta take a breather. â Â
â i thought we were finally going to get away from this place. â
â i canât believe we actually made it. â Â
â what i have to doâŠitâs better if i do it alone. â Â
â donât forget to stand up for yourself. â Â
â canât tell if youâre shy or scared. â Â
â sometimes a dream has to die. â Â
â iâm alone in bearing the burden. â Â
â well, this is a warm welcome. â Â
â each journey begins with a single step. â Â
â i often prefer plants to people. â
â wish i could say iâve been through worse. â Â
â nobodyâs handed me anything or dropped opportunity in my lap. everything iâve achieved, iâve done on my own. â Â
â greatness is never easy. â Â
â just try not to get hurt. â Â
â you mustnât judge me. i had no choice. â Â
â trust me, you donât want to know. â Â
â why didnât you wake me? â Â
â everyone makes mistakes. â Â
â how can i say no to that? â Â
â these days, you donât seem to appreciate anything. â Â
â i wonât be anyoneâs second choice. â Â
â you were a great warrior once. â Â
â sounds like you could use a hand. â
â i mean, have you ever even had a friend? â Â
â ugh, whatâs that stench? â Â
â iâm not saying itâs a bad idea. iâm saying itâs overkill. â Â
â you know better than anyone itâs a dangerous world out there. â Â Â Â
â whatâs done is done. â Â
â iâm guessing youâve got a lot of questions. â Â
â is there nothing you canât do? â Â Â Â
â trust me â you donât want to go in there. â Â
â the exceptional walk a path of solitude. â Â
â you, sorry? thatâd be a first. â Â
â you might want to sleep with one eye open. â Â
â itâs okay. iâve fought bigger. â Â
â iâve never heard of anything so selfish. â Â
â seems like you could use a shoulder to lean on. â Â
â come back someday and tell me about your adventures. â Â
â youâve shown strength and wisdom today. â Â
â false hope is a creeping vine. â Â
â someoneâs being awfully mysterious. â Â
â you must think iâm eminently stupid. â Â
â do i smellâŠale? â Â
â iâm not looking for any trouble. â Â
â itâs good to see you, but i canât stay long. â Â
â the burden of your task is written across your face. â Â
â so. thatâs my story. â Â
â thatâs a little harsh, isnât it? â Â
â do you really think we can do something about all of this? â Â
â people only follow you because you say so. loudly. â Â
â itâs over. i failed. â Â
â iâve gotten used to seeing impossible things, thanks to you. â Â
â thatâs all youâre going to tell me? â Â
â itâs nice to save a life instead of end one. â Â
â you want me to come with you? â Â
â you donât have to be afraid. â Â
â donât worry about me. iâll be fine. â Â
â sorry. youâre not getting rid of me that easily. â Â
â you sure i shouldnât come with you? â Â
â why are you here? what is your purpose? â Â
â iâm not trying to shut you out. â Â
â if this is too much for your old bones, you can always head back. â Â
â something doesnât want us here. â Â
â iâm going to make sure you pay for all the suffering you have caused. â Â
â please, just donât break anything. â Â
â youâre not wanted here. â Â
â your skill with a bow never ceases to amaze. â Â
â you must think iâm an idiot. â Â
â didnât think i was going to make it. â Â
â a true warrior makes use of every advantage. â Â
â maybe just donât disappear completely this time? â Â
â what, afraid iâll stab you or something? â Â
â any kindness we seed, we should also sow. â
â sounds like you were a force to be reckoned with. â Â Â Â
â it must be urgent since you left so fast. â
â this isnât going to work. â Â
â iâm not getting dragged further into this madness. â Â
â i never wanted any of this to happen. â Â
â if you want, we can talk about it. â Â Â Â
â everything feelsâŠunreal. distant. â   Â
â as long as youâre honest with yourself, nobody can hold your choices against you. â
â you sure know how to fight. â Â
â how many more do i have to kill? when does it end? â Â
â the blade answers only to the hand that commands it. â Â
â iâm not the trusting type. â Â
â i like to make my own judgements about people. â Â
â i knew my eyes werenât playing tricks on me. â
â when we are united, we can overcome any threat. â Â
â you fought well back there. â Â
â that wound needs to be looked at. â Â
â what have you done? â Â
â i trust you will point my blade where it will cut the deepest. â Â
â what do you need me to do? â Â Â
â the world seems quieter when it snows. â Â Â
â that was an unkind comparison. â Â Â Â
â iâm sorry for my unannounced appearance. â
â sundown. stars will be out soon. â
â no nonsense. i like it. â
â one thingâs for sure. weâre not alone out here. â Â
â you made quite an impression that day. â Â
â okay, you got me. iâm curious. â Â
â youâre never one to hold back, are you? â Â
â hold your fire. iâm not here to fight. â Â
â a loss today is a win tomorrow. â Â
â i tried to vent my grief on the battlefieldâŠbut i never found comfort. â Â
â maybe now you can tell me what weâre doing here? â Â
â did you hit your head on your way down here? â Â Â Â
â you got blindsided. wasnât your fault. â Â
â true courage means facing those fears with conviction instead of cynicism. â Â
â follow my lead and be prepared for anything. â Â
â this place is really falling apart. â Â
â one of these days iâm gonna shut that arrogant mouth of yours. â Â
â letâs hold off with the ale until itâs over and done with. â Â
â youâre the worst, you know that? â Â
â i will do whatever i can. i promise. â Â
â itâs time for the truth, and it better be convincing. â Â
â everyone thought you were dead. â Â
â i can always count on you. â Â
â nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. â Â
â iâm not gonna kill you, okay? â Â
â you havenât let me down yet. â Â
â i will not let myself hope just yet. â Â
â iâm glad youâre with me. â Â
â youâve got guts. iâll give you that. â Â
â youâre a long way from home. â Â
â i didnât come all this way to stop now. â Â
â you can be so boorish. â Â
â okay, enough. iâm gonna get emotional. â Â
â no. i am not wearing that. no way. â Â
â i can barely breathe. â Â
â this is what i am now. â Â
â and now you know the truth. â Â
â will i feel different? whole again? â Â
â the road to truth is never a straight line. â Â
â this place is a maze. â Â
â iâm not some legend come to life. â Â
â you look like you have something on your mind. â Â
â you shouldnât believe everything you hear. â Â
â things were simpler then. â Â
â iâm just stubborn. itâs a good quality to have, dealing with you. â Â
â itâs been a long road. weâve suffered. weâll continue to suffer. â Â
â weâre a lot alike, huh? â Â
â youâve had a hard journey for one so young. â Â
â whatever comes, we will endure. â Â
â whatâs so important down there that youâd risk your life? â Â
â are you even listening? â Â
â we canât sit around wallowing in our sadness. â Â
â yeah, maybe that wasnât such a good idea. â Â
â destiny shines upon us. â Â
â donât be so quick to dismiss the comfort we can find in art. â Â
â donât worry. iâll protect you. â Â
â if you ever betray me again, i will kill you no matter what the circumstance. â Â
â iâve surpassed every man that has ever gotten in my way. â Â
â feels like the bloodshed never ends. and the pain it causes. â Â
â youâre the last person to act sensibly in the face of impossible odds. â Â
â when it looks impossible, look deeper. and then fight like you can win. â Â
â do more than just survive. flourish. â Â
â i told you i wanted to help you. i meant it. â Â
â i am no threat. â Â
â survival is only a necessity to my greater purpose. â Â
â i see youâŠa woman who has carved her own remarkable path. â Â
â even when things are darkest, youâre the flame that lights the way forward. â Â
â you have opened my eyes to many things. â Â
â you were part of something bigger once. something good. â Â
â what i wouldnât give to watch you die. â Â
â it all turned out well, in the end. â Â
â thereâs something very powerful somewhere beyond that door. â Â
â iâm sorry i couldnât do more to help you. â Â

reluctantly he listened to this convoluted story, whether spun of lies or truth, jun-ho didnât seem to care either way, the only thing for certain now is that his brother was a criminal â the worst kind⊠he would watch hundreds of people risk their lives just for a sliver of won, he wondered if he enjoyed it, then he sighed, a deep sorrowful sigh, he felt he may collapse underneath this weight that had begun to build on his chest. heâd come looking for his missing brother only to find him living in luxury, if you could call it that , not injured or missing at all. â enough â â he said in a commanding, yet shaky voice. â i donât want to hear anymore. i donât want to speak to you. â @deadgamesâ [ hwang i.n-ho ]

Â
sang-woo lowered his head, Â Â his smile had disappeared now. Â Â left with nothing but his thoughts of how he was intended to make sure gi-hun would stay. Â Â irony was as fresh as the wounds he felt from his own failures. Â Â a deep sigh escaped him and he feigned a smile, Â Â
â do you still gag over the smallest of things? or have you learned to be an adult? â the smile transformed into something real. Â Â sang-woo recalled cherished memories and tried for nothing more then to remember the happiness he felt being near gi-hun, Â Â and how much trouble they gotten intoâthe strife they gave their mothers. Â Â it had only been temporary then. Â Â now, Â Â it was something much different. Â Â

his cheeks flushed and he let a small chuckle pass through his lips, it was unexpected but all the more endearing. he waves his hands defensively. â no no â what? haha iâm sure i grew out of that before you left â i think...~ â   â think â was the keyword. heâd hardly grown out of it, but the only thing lately that sickened him these days was himself and what has become of him. â mm⊠what about you? have you become a real adult â ? â he nods his head towards the alcohol. â can you drink more than two now? â he gives a smirk.

Â
â thank you⊠â sang-woo said in response to gi-hunâs sworn secrecy.   he tried not to be too enthusiastic about it.   he didnât have the heart to convey the truth.   he was surprised that gi-hun felt no suspicion by sang-wooâs request.   â perhaps⊠we should leave talks of our lives and family in somewhere else right now,  â  a small smile returned to curve his mouth.   he wanted to move past it all as fast as he could. Â
he nods, once, and then twice, and then a third time. it was a auto response, he couldnât think of anything to say in response, but the simple pleasure it brought him to see sang-woo smile once again, something so small yet so big it filled him with an innumerable amount of joy, he couldnât even explain the sensation. perhaps , it was in contrast to the dreadful loneliness he had been feeling earlier â he had friends, sure, but no one came close to sang-woo⊠or so he told himself in this moment.
â haha, youâll hear no objections from me â butâŠuh... â he paused, his mouth pulling into a straight line as his eyes wander around the bar. â what do we speak about? â the question, even though asked by gi-hun himself sent a surge of uneasiness racing through him.

sang-woo immediately regretted bringing up the topic of mothers.   how was he to tell gi-hun what he had done to his mother? how would he tell him how he failed? the expectations that were placed on him only weighed him down more.   sang-woo remembered how proud she was when she wished him well,  after graduating top of his class.   as he left with his ambitions high.   he aimed to make her keep smiling⊠give her an easy life where she could forget what it felt like to be without.   temptations of power and greed were quick to corrupt him,  and instead of working honestly as he had promised,  he had become someone who took advantage of others.   all in the sake of making more and more moneyâhe never wanted to feel poor again.   never⊠but that sort of corruption in power comes at a price that he now pays alone.   he canât even let his failures grace his lips,  in fear that he will fall apartâfinally admitting to what he truly is.   a failure,  a criminal,  the worse type of human⊠self persevering to the point where those he loves get thrown under.  Â
â yâyeah! but,  only on the phone⊠â he intended to lie,  but the truth forced its way out.   â she⊠she doesnât know that iâm here.   â he lowered his head in defeat.   quickly,  he found the strength to raise his head to look on gi-hun once more,  â you canât tell her if you see her⊠please⊠not yet.   â
he worries the inside of his cheek, mindlessly until the metallic taste of blood began to filled his mouth, causing him to abruptly clear his throat after he gasps lightly, halting at the worrying. he digs crescent moons into his palms as he keeps eye contact with sang-woo, heâd missed him â too much to ever describe to anyone, even sang-woo himself. he lifted his drink to his lips and took a drink, releasing a small sigh after he swallowed.
heâd become engulfed in this moment, and he never wanted to leave, he felt like a kid again, dafe in the comfort of his friend. safe from loan sharks, from the constant hounding of his mother and from the reality of losing his wife and daughter. now he was with sang-woo and he felt at home, he felt happy for the first time in years.
eyes widen at hearing sang-woo plead for secrecy. â i get it ,  â he laughed lightly, waving his hands in defense. â i bet you want to surprise her huh? my lips are sealed sang-woo. i promise. â  were it anyone else they wouldnât have taken his word, hopefully sang-woo still had some faith in him, and his word. there was a lingering voice in the back of his mind pushing him to ask sang-woo if he was okay but gi-hun was afraid of pushing him away so he kept his mouth shut and said what he though sang-woo wanted to hear. â your secrets safe with me, sang-woo. âÂ

â itâs fineâŠâ another smile forced to his face,  sang-woo tried not to make a habit of checking the room in case of wandering eyes,  and he also didnât want to upset gi-hun further than he seemed to have already.  â just here?⊠nothing new has happened? or exciting? â sang-woo wanted to force the conversation elsewhereâanywhere than himself.  â how is your mom? â
the room felt suffocating, gi-hun found it hard to breathe, he wished for silence, he couldnât stand the questions revolving around himself. he was a let down, and frankly â he had been feeling less like himself lately. he gave another smile â he couldnât let sang-woos visit back home be soured by his own downfall. Â â mom? Â â he repeats in a low tone, tapping the table with his index finger. she was a good enough excuse out of speaking about himself. â hah, she refuses to retire. â a white lie. â but she is good â healthy as ever. have you spoken to your mom? â Â

another thing to add to that s/angihun scene during ep 1.... g/ihun keeps his eyes on s/angwoo even after s/angwoo gets cross the finish line. its like g/ihun was felt calmer or more determined if he kept his eyes on him. it was kinda intense as well, and iâve not seen anyone say anything regarding the eye contact thats only broken MOMENTARILY when g/ihun trips.
