[ META ] + senses ( for briar! you know how some people have better hearing or sense of smell because their eyesight is weak?)

briar's strongest sense, is his hearing actually. it helps quite a lot that he's extremely perceptive, and aware of his surroundings. and with a quick reaction time, it can be quite intimidating to see him using it to it's fullest in action. i took quite a lot of insp for briar from jono ( bsd ) actually. and while he's not quite that intense; he is able to sense people to a rather unsettling degree. simply breathing is enough to alert him to your presence tbh. to really dive into every tiny detail on just his hearing alone would be a lot. it's honestly his most important sense, and while more often than not, it's a strength-- it can be a weakness too.

next up is actually something unique to his species. as a halovian he is very in tune with people's emotions. and due to his reliance on these abilities-- he can sense how people feel within close proximity. again. jono is a massive insp; and briar can use this to read things like joy, sorrow, resentment, killing intent, ect ect. he can tell if a person is lying, no matter how good they are at it.

smell is another one he relies on quite a bit. mostly since he tends to associate particular scents with particular people. his sense of smell however is... maybe a little too strong at times. and very strong fragrances, or colognes, can give him a bit of a headache or make him feel a little sick.

taste falls into this sort of... just that his sense of taste is strong. he enjoys fattier foods, but not too much. balancing his love for rich flavors with more mellow dishes like rice, potatoes, fish, and lightly seasoned vegetables.

touch is of course... a necessity. but it's not something he actually relies on entirely because he has to. he's gotten very good at using his hands to feel finer details he cannot see. but he likes to use touch to feel people too-- especially when it comes to his romantic partners.

briar's eyesight isn't ENTIRELY kaput. but it is worsening more and more as he gets older, and eventually he will be completely blind. or so he believes. at current he can see shapes, shadows and muted colors ( very very muted ). if he's close enough he might be able to see vague details. but otherwise he relies 100% on all his other senses much more. it's kinda how it's been his entire life, so he's not really too beat up about it. and doesn't actually think much of it.

hobbies!! oh! a toughie tbh, briar doesn't really have a lot of time to do things he wants to do. but, halovian's all seem to have an affinity for music, i feel. or tie ins with hymns and forms of performance arts. i do have it that briar can play piano, and he can play it extremely well- despite his vision impairment. but speaking of, i think he also likes to see other's memories and dreams. since he can actually see much better when he's within the golden hour / dreamscape...

briar and sunday are... actually a somewhat complicated topic. because by default he has both a deep, and profound respect for sunday-- and a genuine fear of what he's capable of. like he really does do, or say things that briar needs to do a double take on. or acts without much warning, and may startle him from time to time by doing... seemingly small things.

it isn't all bad though?

like i said, he has a lot of respect for him. and that's not because he's fearful of some of his actions. those are entirely separate points. it is his respect for sunday that really makes all the difference- and keeps him close. it's why he hasn't tried anything illegal to escape from pena/cony. yes, leaving is hard enough as it is. no one leaves, and this is very VERY much the case for members of 'the family'. but there is this added layer of guilt. regardless of the nature of their relationship; briar would be guilty for leaving sunday to handle things as they are. unless sunday pushed him to a point where he literally could not take it anymore.

he cares about him, in short. cares about his opinions, about his feelings, about how he's handling things. is willing to take a massive work load , if it keeps things in harmony with him-- and the pena/cony. is it because he needs to? or wants to? that is entirely up to sunday to decide.
