he  stares,           unblinking,           CLEARLY  taking  this  conversation  far  more  seriously  than  he  should.           then,           he  speaks.           deliberate  but  quiet,           as  if  the  subject  of  his  next  words  will  hear  if  he  raises  his  voice  just  a  bit  too  much.

‘ time for bed, sleepyhead. come on, i’ve got you. ’ / yuzu !

limbs  heavy  with  exhaustion,          yuzu  is  slumped  over  and  silent  on  the  couch.          he  stirs  as  the  older  girl  helps  him  up,          still  half  asleep  but  mostly  conscious.          hands  form  fists  to  furiously  rub  at  the  sleep  keeping  his  eyes  half  shut,          which  squint  at  orihime  as  if  trying  to  recall  where  he  is.          “          ah          ...          did  i  fall  asleep     ?          ”          sheepish,          his  cheeks  go  pink  with  embarrassment.          

while  taking  on  the  chores  of  the  kurosaki  household  was  his  own  decision,          cleaning  and  cooking  for  a  family  of  four  alongside  schoolwork  is  undoubtedly  exhausting.          thinking  about  this  makes  yuzu  START  with  a  sudden  realization,          as  if  struck  by  lightning.         

 “          did  i  forget  to  make  dinner     ?          oh  no          ...          i  hope  karin  -  chan  and  father  were  able  to  eat.          ”

‘ you don’t get enough sleep. ’ (ino to her bae 🥺)

shikamaru  has  a  headache.          for  once  it’s  not  because  of  ino.          they’re  supposed  to  be  enjoying  their  afternoon  off  together,          which  is  only  characterized  by  the  absence  of  choji  because  they’re  dating  and  having  their  friend  third  wheel  would  be  kind  of  weird  for  any  other  couple,          but  also  because  they  don’t  have  a  choice  when  he’s  off  on  a  mission.          still,          maybe  that’s  the  reason  why  he’s  feeling  so  dizzy  as  he  sits  at  the  park  bench  and  pinches  at  the  bridge  of  his  nose.          prolonged  exposure  to  his  own  girlfriend  without  his  best  friend  to  balance  it  all  out.

“          tell  me  about  it,          ”          he  grumbles,          though  he  does  not  have  any  other  snarky  remarks  to  add  with  the  throbbing  at  his  temples.          “          i  could’ve  sworn  i  just  heard  konohamaru  causing  trouble          ...          but  that’s  all.          guess  i  must’ve  imagined  it.          ”          that  boy  is  the  reason  why  shikamaru’s  been  finding  grey  strands  clinging  to  his  hair  ties.          him,          combined  with  kakashi’s  ABSURDLY  lax  nature,  and  the  mission  reports,          along  with  the  lessened  need  for  shinobi  in  peacetime,          and  the  shinobi  alliance  that  forces  him  away  from  the  village  for  days  at  a  time.          ugh.          he  needs  to  stop  thinking.
