yup, you're right. i took those graphics directly from the official uefa women's champion league website lineup (because i was too lazy to make my own) and they kinda do their own thing when it comes to graphic design 😄

I’m kinda worried about amc, don’t think she’s happy at atletico, she’s rarely seen. What do you think ?

i am also worried about amc, anon. the most ideal situation would have been for her to finish out her contract at barça, play the home euros in switzerland, retire, and then return to barcelona to open her coffee shop/cafe.

obviously, that's not the way reality happened. and it still pains culers about the way she was transferred by barça because she was such a fan favorite and we didn't get a proper goodbye. as for atletí, i mean she scrambled to find a club in a short timeframe, so it really was not the ideal situation for anyone. that's why i think the adaptation to atletí has not been great because it's not like she really wanted to be there. atletí also hasn't had the greatest season, so i can't imagine that is helping things either.

but amc is not even getting minutes at atletí nor is she really integrated in the club with their socials or anything. it looks like the last time she played for atletí was in their match against valencia on 30 march and she came in only as a sub in the 89th minute.

i just think that she's going to do what it takes to maintain a base level of playing so that she is fit enough to make the swiss national team for next summer. she posted some photos training in atletí gear yesterday with leicy santos, so that's something.

in the meantime, she's been talking lots of classes at norah coffee in madrid and getting her post-career plans in shape.

looks like alexia's foundation finally has a name. and i like it! more than eleven not only refers to alexia's own #11 shirt number but it also alludes to the fact that it takes more than the 11 players on a pitch to make a team really successful, including the staff, fans, supporters, donors, and the like. that's a great analogy for what it takes for nonprofits and grassroots organisations to thrive too!

yeah, that doesn't surprise me that lucy and ona would stick around in london after the match. the team's next match is in 3 days back in bcn, so they have time off to hang out in london with lucy's family yesterday evening and today.

they'll be spending a lot of time in spain through the champions league final, so i imagine lucy wants to take advantage of the time in london while she can.

side note: i've been to this apple market that ona posted about before and it's a cute place to pick up little bits of decor and such. seems like someone is on a bit of a home decorating kick!

This is so obscure but do you know if Swiss/Norwegian/Cold country players are allowed to ski? Because I saw in an interview that footballers in general weren’t but I assume that’s part of their culture so in my head it sorta makes sense for them to have some kind of allowance idk 🤣🤣

so the short answer is that it depends on the contract that is negotiated between a player and the individual club. sometimes sports/sporting activities are explicitly listed in a contract, and other times it's just a blanket prohibition on "dangerous sports." and i guess it's up for interpretation as to what counts as "dangerous." but it's really club dependent to the extent they even care.

for example, ana-maria crnogorčević has spoken about how she got a motorcycle license in 2011 but her contract with barça prohibited her from riding her motocycle.

the most famous example is probably male footballer manuel neuer who didn't have a skiing clause in his contract with bayern and got injured skiing and had to miss part of the season! 🤦‍♀️

it's a bit of a complicated answer, and no, i don't think it has anything to do with a "punishment" or "payback" for going to the national team. that was something that was blown up by the media unfairly and poor communication from rfef, like usual.

to me, it's about jona's preference. you have to realize that jona has been manager of barça for almost three seasons after being an assistant under lluís cortés, and alexia has been injured for almost half that time he has been in charge. i just think that jona prefers a walsh-patri-aitana midfield as his first choice because let's be real: it is a world class midfield line including the current ballon d'or winner, and it's been working for him most recently. in the most important matches of the year, that's his midfield of choice (see 22/23 uwcl final vs. 23/24 uwcl semi lineup below) everyone else are pieces to be moved around, like rolfö as winger instead of wingback yesterday.

that's why we had the alexia as striker/false 9 experiments that went down to start the season back in the fall. i don't think jona wanted to mess around with the success of his a-team midfield line. but also he needed to figure out what to do with alexia because hello, it's alexia. but then she got injured! and was out another few months, and was slow-rolled back into the lineup.

we know that alexia excels in the midfield where she can be that creative spark and playmaker. and we never really got around to experimenting with the aitana-alexia-patri-walsh diamond to start matches regularly. the predominant question still remains: who do you bench in favor of putting alexia on in the midfield? no easy answers there for the staff imho.

and finally, jona is leaving in a few weeks and just doesn't think he needs to figure it out, as long as alexia is fine with being super sub. it's up to pere romeu and rafel navarro to determine the best utilisation of all these players moving forward.

anyway, i've been thinking about this a lot, and this is all just conjecture, but that's what i've come up with.

Our girls performed well for this leg. Lucy Bronze was awesome in this game.

Soo Hampton can move fast. Can I say Chelsea got a taste of their own medicine during those last minutes? I laughed when Cata took the time to get the ball back in play - Chelsea fans were outraged 🤣

Aitana is defo the player of the match. She is so smol but soooo amazing.

I was watching through DAZN and the commentators are just so... eh. I watched the match on mute because of them.

Onto the Finals! Let's get that cup again. Força Barça!

so much to unpack and analyse! but the main thing is that it was a gritty, hard fought win and like aitana said, we learned and adapted and gave them the same tricks back.

our girls bounced back in a big way (so happy for aitana to have gotten her flowers) and a much better turn of form for mariona. lucy turned up and was good for both of these legs. as for alexia, girl had to get her aggression out, and she knows when she needs to defend too 😉

anyway, i'm sure there will be a lot written over the next few days on what we have to improve and potential changes in formation and rotation because there are still a lot of matches left to play. and we need to do clean up our mistakes in order to win the final!

and of course we'll need to deal with a lot of whinging from english fans. am i annoyed that a lot of legitimate commentary and criticism of this match is being drowned out by ref controversy again? sure. but it is what it is. the issue of professionalism and qualifications for refs in the women's game continues to be an issue, so it's high time for the powers to be to do something about it instead of complaining. so let's enjoy this high while we can!
