Sometimes, the technology isn’t up to date, and there are moral issues to consider. Also, simply introducing new technology doesn’t guarantee whether it will be genuinely fun or not. We are always thinking about how to make something enjoyable for our users.

The way they talk about some "new technology" having "moral issues to consider" concerns me.....I really hope it's not some NFT or AI shit.

It seems that company's history is mostly just making shitty-looking mobile games and blockchain shit. Damn, is this really how badly Kaneko's profile has sunk?

It's surprising he had to get a job agent to find work, though; perhaps it's because his profile seems much lower than it used to be. What was ATLUS even having him do? He didn't seem to have been up to much since the PS2 era.

"Talk to ME"

While watching DDS2 cutscenes in Japanese on youtube I stumbled upon pretty interesting differences with the English localisation in the Vritra pre-boss cutscene. (English reference, Japanese reference)

DISCLAIMER: I am still learning Japanese and it's completely possible I made mistakes! I'll only speak of things I am reasonably certain I got right.

English Heat says "I told you I was strong, Sera", while Japanese Heat (Hito) simply says that he's acquired "the greatest power".

When Sera asks that he let her talk to God, Heat responds with "Talk to ME!" while Hito claims that he is God.

Those are small differences but they make the scene read very differently to me. In English, Heat flaunts his newfound strength in Sera's face, but he is clearly still bitter about her choosing Serph over him; the first line is a direct callback to his words in DDS1: "Serph can't protect you! Can't you see that I'm stronger than him!?". In Japanese, there's no reference to that scene being made, as far as I can tell, and Hito is just on a MASSIVE power trip.

His response to Sera asking to talk to God is somewhat incoherent in both versions: Japanese Heat is kind of delusional, English Heat doesn't actually answer her at all. But again the English localization emphasizes Heat's affection for Sera. Both lines convey the same idea - that Sera should talk to him and not to God - but for different reasons: Hito is so gorged off his own strength that he thinks he is on the same level as God, while English Heat doesn't suggest anything of the sort; he's throwing a tamper tantrum that she could want to talk to anyone but him. Again, he's still hurt that she chose Serph over him, he wants her all to himself, and his jealousy and anger surface in this incredibly possessive expression of his affection.

I don't have any judgement to pass on these versions here, I haven't seen enough of the Japanese to say if I prefer it or not. I just thought it was cool how localization can subtly change the whole tone of a scene while still rigorously saying the same thing.

The embryon and all other junkyard characters clothes are oddly thought out. The armor work as system where you can attach pieces to one another. In general all characters use a base layer similar to Gale's or Cielo's armor with only the torso armor and pants that are attched to the torso armor by the copper buckles in the armor, and yeah those things are buckles. The idea seems that you can attach modules to them so in Cielo's case he wears the bags on his side.

So the armor is pretty much modular. Next thing a character usually adds to theyr armor is a jacket, that mainly covers the chest area and shoulders but could also cover your arms. So both Serph and Argilla are wearing very similar clothes but just the mere detail of having the jacket open in argilla makes them look very different from each other showcasing theyr personalities. ofc Argilla is also wearing a skirt but i think her desing could work very well with pants.

There is a lot you can make with this, so obviously Heat is an edgelord so he gets a cape, Gale is my little neurodivergent weirdo so he gets the worst fucking hood ever seen. And all of this without diverging too much of the original premise of torso armor some pants and something to combine this with.

AND THEN THEY GAVE UNIQUE STYLES TO ALL THE FUCKING TRIBES, srly even after you overtake the junkyard you can see what members were from which tribe by desing alone. I dont want to make the post too long but as an example. The vanguards all seem to wear this head piece as if they are in dessert ops gear.

Did that MF reached nirvana or did the developers simply forgot about Roland. Or did Fred found a child that was the reincarnation of Roland but he literally thought "OH NO, I CAN DEAL WITH THE MURDEROUS INTERSEX WOMAN, BUT IM NOT DEALING WITH MY ALCOHOLIC FATHER FIGURE AS MY CHILD" and he fucking abandoned him like the dds plot.

Baofu DEFINITELY uses burned exclusively. Eventually, all his friends that he swears are "contacts" and not "friends" recognise his speech pattern and know it's him when they get his texts from any number.

Katsuya answers his phone as soon as it rings, and if he's late replying to a text, he formally apologises for the delay with an explanation before replying to the actual content of the message.

Ulala is probably a texting fiend. Maya often gets into conversations with her via text, but has to silence her phone as she gets a dozen replies. Half of them are probably giving Big Sis a shopping list for all the food Ulala will cook to spare them all from Maya burning the place down.

jun has several different blogs on several different platforms to manage in his downtime and they range from astrology blogging, to flower pictures, to thirstposting, to the most unhinged and disturbing venting imaginable. loves texting, taking pics, watching videos, and having instant access to all information ever in his hands for the purpose of winning arguments and/or improving his gaslighting

maya isn't allowed to have a smartphone says her friends, she's got like a flip phone or a pager still

yukino either barely touches her phone or is always busy with it, there is no middle ground. she juggles personal stuff with business stuff. probably in a group chat with the p1 squad. surprisingly forgetful about setting her phone down someplace or leaving it in a pocket without realizing

lisa's phone screens seem to just magically crack whenever she gets a new phone. doesn't stop her from getting cute cases and decorations and stuff. also loves taking pictures and texting and having a bunch of music on it. probably needs to use earbuds way more than she actually does

sighs. eikichi. you can imagine. you know in your heart how fucking painful/annoying eikichi with a smartphone would be. and we love him for it

tatsuya sometimes forgets he even has a phone. notifications usually muted but he gets bouts of just obsessively checking messages, emails, social media, etc etc etc before setting it down again and it disappearing from his cognition. once the gang's back together his backgrounds are pics of his friends. texts in the briefest """sentences""" possible, otherwise only uses emotes, except at 3:45am when he'll leave you a 500 character message about something incredibly random yet profound, followed by an image meme

i don't trust my EP knowledge enough yet to give a party rundown there but i DO know that baofu exclusively uses burner cells as to not get caught for god knows what new crime of the week

persona 4 is so insane how basically all of the main characters are gay caricatures who arent actually gay lmfao. yosuke is so misogynist hes gay but he also believes gay men are predators. kanji is a victim of said belief because his shadow is basically rupaul but dont worry he falls in love with a girl. and that girl? disguised themself as a man for years to be taken seriously by their adult peers, despite said peers still not taking them seriously because of their age, so this excuse doesnt make sense under any scrutiny. chie is masculine and sporty for a girl so obviously she is deeply insecure about possibly being seen as too butch for guys. yukiko seens chie as her prince but not in THAT way. and rise is also there
