Sorry I haven't replied to anything over the last week or more. I am going through a break up and although I'm fine, I'm struggling with dealing with more than one account. I think I just need the rest of the week and then I'll slowly get to other things elsewhere other than on Cleo

"if ONLY we got showered in gold" Evy muttered, the Egyptologist moved forward anyway, however she stayed close to Rick. The last thing she wanted was for Rick to be separated from her in a dark tunnel such as this, probably laced with traps. Evelyn saw a turning up ahead it was the only place to go it seemed. So far, so good.. she thought to herself. They had faced undead mummies, WHAT ELSE could go wrong?
"given my calculations in this tomb should be the home of Alexander the Great's scribe, which will hold the key to Alexander the great and in his tomb should be the key to finding Atlantis" Evelyn commented, "could you IMAGINE us finding the lost city?" There was that excitement in her tone again, always thinking two steps ahead. Evelyn kept her eyes open, all too aware of the dangers that more than likely surrounded them. "It should be just up ahead" The smell of thousands of years of dust filled her nose, to think that no one else had traced these floors in over three thousand years, it was what kept Evelyn going, the sense of adventure.
Of course Evelyn took Rick on the CRAZY expeditions with her. Mostly she had to convince him, but she didn't get to be the woman she was today if it wasn't for the BONKERS, and not to mention dangerous ideas. "Oh isn't this just exciting?!" Of course Evy felt more thrilled than Rick, "here, get the torch on these" Evy stated, taking hold of his hand to guide the flames towards the wall, to see the MARKINGS inscribed and etched into the stone with chisel and paint.
"those who enter will .. " her head tilted, eyebrow arched "OH, it's .. well it is sort of SCRATCHED off." Lips pursed together, warm hues glanced toward the tunnel in front of them. Well they had ignored every other warning given to them, what else could happen? "Oh it can't be that bad I am sure" famous LAST WORDS as Evelyn had experienced but she was always one for optimism, even if she was the one who had mentioned her gut feeling to begin with. "Maybe .. maybe we should come back?" Was she second guessing herself? That was a first.. oh but the curiosity took the Egyptologist by the throat. Like an itch that couldn't quite be scratched.

I have added Sophie Beckett to the muse list on my multi! I am reading the book currently but it will be of my own interpretation as I haven't fully read the book and obviously the show hasn't gotten to Benedict's story yet. My face claim for her is Alisha Boe and when we finally do know who Sophie is being cast as, I might change it but it depends!

I'm home from London! I had the best time, took 1 photo on my polaroid but that's okay. The meal was lovely and my bestie even spoke Japanese to the people because she could and ordered it all in their language (with my occasional thank you). I have a fucked up knee, so I'm gonna sit and watch a Ghibli film, and put my feet up with a hot water bottle and prob switch off for the night.

Anubis
- Anubis was the Egyptian deity of cemeteries and embalming as well as the protector of graves. As with any other culture or religion around the world, the Egyptians believed in paying respect to their dead. Therefore, they conducted elaborate ceremonies and mummification processes to help the deceased pass smoothly into the Afterlife. Anubis was the deity who played an important role in this journey. Depicted with the black head of a jackal, Anubis helped mummify Egyptians when they died. Black represented the fertile soil of the Nile that was needed to grow yearly crops, so the Egyptians believed that the color black symbolized good fortune and rebirth.
Jackals were associated with death, because they lurked around cemeteries and would eat decomposing flesh. Therefore, by making Anubis the patron deity of jackals, the Egyptians hoped to protect the bodies from being devoured. In addition, as recorded in the Book of the Dead (better known as “The Book of Going Forth by Day”) Anubis’s other job was to stand in the Hall of the Two Truths and weigh the hearts of people seeking judgment.
The human heart was balanced on the scale against Ma’at’s feather of truth. If the heart weighed more than the feather, the person’s identity would essentially cease to exist: the hybrid deity Ammit would eat the heart, and the soul would be destroyed. But if the heart weighed the same as the feather, the deceased would pass through the underworld (Duat) and into the Afterlife.
Since the Egyptians believed in the concept of Ma’at, which meant order, peace, and balance, death was regarded as importantly as life. Therefore, Anubis was a major part of the transition from life to death and back to life again.

How do you feel about the discovery they just made? An intact book of the dead?
Tumblr media
"an intact book of the dead? .. FASCINATING! I would love to see it myself. Although, I would definitely remain cautious, after all, one UNDEAD mummy and curse upon Egypt was certainly an eye opener to all that mumbo jumbo. It definitely makes you view things differently"
