There's an allure to being so small and endearing that others consider keeping you close a comfort. To be loved without feeling as though you are a burden.

When your hands shake too much to create and your voice falters, what a wonder it would be to know you're inherently worth something to someone.

But feeling small often comes from that self-same lie, does it not? Until such a time as we're able to shake loose the notion that our worthiness of compassion is inexorably linked to usefulness.

We're worthwhile regardless, and I'm terrified we always have been.

Thinking about the haunting sorrow in a song by a borrower that is tired of hiding, of risking life and limb to navigate around the days of someone else's home, but knows no other way.

Thinking about the borrower that sings a lullaby to the unloved children of a neglectful human family.

Thinking about the hum of machinery barely masking the bone rattling work-song of a giant deep underground.

Thinking about the tropes of mascarading as human through social media and developing uniquely parasocial relationships with not only peers/fans but the concepts behind aspects of a life they'll never live.

Thinking about singing and size.

Thinking about singing and size difference, about giant-song rolling through the hills, or the seemingly far-off reverie of a live performance amongst the forest folk.

A lonely singer accompanied by an unexpected voice from just out of sight, and on occasion by some contrivance, be it pipes, vents, speakers or the perfect echoing cavern they are united.

First harmony, but upon discovery... discord.
