lo comforting donnelly during the superbowl get together scene is the peak of character development and you cannot change my mind. we went from lo being a alcoholic who (especially in addicted to you) was a complete asshole and said the worse things just to hurt people for the hell of it to now (nobody like us) he is sitting comforting his daughters boyfriend (who he could hate and have valid reasons to hate him) but instead reassuring him that nothing that happened to luna in misfits like us was his fault. getting angry and even protective (at least that's what I am getting from it) over donnelly's situation growing up and his father being the way he is.

like he uses his experience to comfort donnelly and if you've read all the books in the addicted series you know that man was going through hell and back when it came to his feelings and relationship with his father. he comforted donnelly the same way he comforted garrison in skop and bad rep duet when he found out his brothers were hurting him and his parents didn't care enough to step in and acknowledge the real issue. him telling donnelly 'why are you expecting so damn much from yourself' 'youre doing your best. it's enough' and 'she's not in pain. she's the happiest I've seen her in a long time'

him being that comfort for someone is the most beautiful thing to read about and will never fail to make me ugly sob because he was truly made to be a father and knowing that at one point he had that talk with Lily saying they shouldn't have kids?! I don’t know who needs to hear this, but please don’t break promises you make to yourself just because it’s you the promise is being made to. You told yourself you’d go on a walk tomorrow morning? Do it. You said you’d get more consistent with your skincare routine? Make it happen. You promised yourself you would work on establishing boundaries regardless of who’s on the other side of them? Follow through with that. Don’t wake up the next day and go “well I don’t HAVE to do this” “it wouldn’t hurt to postpone this” “this isn’t a big deal” because it literally is. Every promise broken is another nail in the coffin of your self-actualization. It’s another major roadblock to developing healthy self-love and self-respect. Weigh promises you’ve made to yourself the same way you would weigh promises you’ve made to others.
