Being a young adult is so strange. You enter a coffee shop. The 20 year old girl waiting behind you cried all night because she just came to a new city for university and she feels so alone. That 27 year old guy over there works a job he is overqualified for, he lives with his parents and wants to move out but doesn't know what to do about it. That one 24 year old dude already has a car, a house, and a job waiting for him once he graduates thanks to his dad's connections. The 26 year old barista couldn't complete his higher education because he has to work and take care of his family. The 28 year old girl sitting next to you has no friends to go out with so she is texting her mother. That couple (both 25 years old) are married and the girl is pregnant. The 29 year old writing something on her laptop has realized that she chose the wrong major so she is trying to start all over. We are not alone in this, but we are actually so alone. Do you feel me

This was an older Embrace piece that wasn't up to scratch, was going to recycle it, instead reworked the faces and manes, and used it as an opportunity to practice painting with acrylics. One of the faces has the more “plastic” look that I've been trying to avoid with acrylics (lower left photo). Watering the paint down and then gradually layering seems to keep the matte look I was getting with gouache.

Relationships that have real king/lionheart energy, that whole “I have sworn myself wholly to you, I am your sword arm, I am your dog” to someone else’s “you are the one person in this world I can rely on, and I am both bolstered and burdened by your absolute faith in me” vibe, but it’s in circumstances that are like. so low stakes. I personally do ship house and Wilson just because haha gay

But as an pleasantly aromatic aromantic I do also like the idea that their friendship just transcends the standard friendship paradigm without being inherently romantic, and that you can be incredibly close to someone without wanting to shag/marry them. There's beauty in friendship that I think house did a better job of exploring than the beauty in a romantic relationship

#kids mostly i think #this is real though #i was in a gas station the other day in the middle of the city #and they were selling mr beast chocolate #and he had the saddest most vacant smile on his face #and i turned to my friends and said 'they need to send him to a farm they send those dogs to upstate' #because they really should put him out of his misery #it almost feel like some sort of greek punishment by now

i do enjoy "living weapon" characters but specifically living weapons who did in fact do absolutely horrific things which at least a part of them enjoyed and thought was good and right at the time, and that no amount of not knowing any better or guilt they feel in hindsight will ever make up for. i love living weapons who are "irredeemable", and no it's not their fault that they were made that way or pointed in the directions they were by the hand that wielded them, and yes they are victims, but so were their victims. living weapons who some people will never be able to forgive, but who still wake up every day and try to do better than what's expected of them. a sword that uses its blade to cut wheat to make bread for the people who once lived in fear of its arc falling on their heads.
