this is going to sound simplistic + i promise you it's not: stop following people whose entire schtick is being cruel or fighting with others online. even if the ppl deserve it! even if it's not a ~problematic~ cruelty! even if you agree with all of that blog's opinions!

it's one thing if someone snaps back when provoked or posts the occasional "get a load of this guy". nobody needs to play up respectability for people who haven't given them respect in return. but if someone's online identity centers around being needlessly mean for laughs + they're constantly seeking out socially acceptable, easy targets for petty cruelty, that's a red flag. there's a huge difference between not taking shit/cracking a joke + mocking others as your several-hours-a-day hobby.

especially if, when they are inevitably in the wrong + mocking someone mercilessly to their 50k followers over something petty goes south (shocking!), they become extremely defensive or block everyone or play the victim or dismiss it as "well, how was i supposed to know they were autistic? i'm autistic + i don't meow in public" or whatever.

this isn't a "well i knew all along" post bcuz nobody should be shamed for being in the dark about something like this but many of the popular bloggers who have later been exposed for serious harassment or abuse should not have shocked us. if someone's blog is 90% shit like "you should light yourself on fire because you watch x anime" or "look at this so-called lesbian bitch + her ugly fucking boyfriend at a kink convention- it's giving drowned rats", should it really shock you that they are also being cruel or abusive in less internet-acceptable ways? if they've already shown you that they get a such a thrill out of being vicious that they do it daily + are regularly rewarded with thousands of followers?

any time someone argues that abuse has to be deliberate and explicitly on purpose the whole way through they have to pay cocsa survivors 4 million dollars. any abuse survivor really but cocsa especially is a case where i think that really falls through

the original plan for the DSMP end was the reveal that dreamXD was the god of the universe that everybody existed in, and there was gonna be a massive attack on dreamXD where ppl would go to the end and try to kill him... but he would reset the cycle before they could kill him..... bad's personal idea was that the DSMP's cast were all people pulled in from different timelines and universes by dreamXD to be playthings for him to mess with... the egg was a creation not of dreamXD but just an aspect of the timeline. and everytime the timeline gets reset, the egg itself doesn't get reset but it loses its power and gets buried again..... its such a pain trying to navigate being critical of the psychiatric field as it is today because ill nod along to a post talking about how psych wards are horrible and so many therapists and mental health professionals are actually just downright awful and make their patients mental health works and then ill look in the notes and see people go like yesssss and medication is terrible and we should just get help Instead like. um. in an ideal world youd get both buddy. im sorry but even in a better world where society doesnt make you want to kill yourself all the time and your therapist actually listens to you you will also likely still have to take that medication

#not that medication is a fix all #because 1. it is an excruciating process to find out which meds work for you #and 2. some peoples lives just suck so fucking bad theyll still want to die regardless of meds #but like.. that doesnt mean we need to Replace medication. medication should still exist you cant seriously be anti-medicine #yes i stopped wanting to kill myself when my life got better not just when i got on medication that actually helped #but also that medication actually helped me go to sleep at night and i had less urge to actually Act on any suicidal thoughts that i had #when i was on meds while still having a terrible life #and now i havent been on meds for a while and even though my life is better now and i have proper support #i still struggle. i cant go to sleep at a normal time. my memory is failing me. i struggle w hygiene #no medication didnt magically make me better. but it helped. and i dont like the trains of thought #that can come from 'medicine bad actually you Just need support from people' #like hey.... hey thats not a good way to think actually.. you need both #mask mews #also like. some people struggle with shit that they cannot fucking live with when they arent medicated #like. some people have vivid horrible hallucinations. lol. #do you really think that a life without medication is good or are you bitter and misdirecting your anger

sometimes the way tubbo will note that he used the wrong track/disc or that he hated a certain transition even though it sounded fine reminds me of the advice we got in theatre where if you mess up DONT TELL THE AUDIENCE. ROLL WITH IT. THEY WILL NOT KNOW YOU MADE A MISTAKE UNLESS IT IS EITHER EXCRUCIATINGLY OBVIOUS OR UNLESS YOU PULL ATTENTION TO IT. and really this applies to most things. there are many many mistakes that creatives make that their audience would not notice if it werent for the creative pointing it out themself
