I'm making a display at the library for poetry month in April and I chose this book.
Haiku's are wonderful because they are like puzzles where words can careen at any moment without you expecting the outcome. And it's so small, but powerful.
These Haiku's were written by Mayuzumi Madoka during a love affair:
Plum scent on the borderline of I like you and I hate you.
Banality: hating this word I wash my hair.
I listened to this song today and not sure if I've posted it before, but just like these Haiku's, it's an expression of frustration and emotion, but in an unexpected way. It can be a happy song or a sad song depending on what side of his you are on. But clever and powerfully done.
In early 2021, I met a Yemi and a Keisha in a government secured building and we sat together. Here are a few phrases picked out from that story.
-mine. not mean. Mine.
-shoes on the wrong feet
-“WOW”
-aspect ratio off
-“I’ve seen people’s faces change permanently while he speaks to them. Changed forever.”
-low on paperclips
-How they re-direct—> Can you make them re-direct?
-bathroom tears and one maggot floors
-“Is that art? Solving other people’s problems?”
-dusky banality
-“Nervously worry about it! Later!”
-feed it (cultivate?), uninhibit it
-stolen paperclips after lunch
They were a super big part of my 2021 in a small amount of time. I look back being grateful having met them. I wanted to name these guys after them. ❤️
