It was a good thing you had one more day off work you were absolutely exhausted as soon as Eddie left you spread all over the bed hoping to get some really nice sleep no snoring from Eddie no alarms blaring telling it was time for work and off you dozed off enjoying the most peaceful restful sleep of your life maybe too good as you woke up around 3 when Chris arrived home from school Carla dropped him off but not before checking in on you with you didn’t answer the door “im so sorry I guess I was just really comfortable and lost track of time I hope it doesn’t mess up my sleep schedule cuz I have a 24h shift tomorrow”
“No worries y/n just making sure Chris wasn’t left home alone”
“Yeah thank you would you like to stay for dinner Eddie’s bringing pizza home”
“I would love to but to today y/n you got your rest now I need mine”
You both laughed “that seems fair well thank you for the wake up call and bringing Chris home”
….. you Chris decided to got on a walk to work up an appatie until Eddie pulled up while you where resting in the porch steps Chris practically ran to him
“Dad dad where the pizza we are hungry”
You joined them ruffling Chris hair while interagated Eddie
“Yeah Ed’s we have been working up an appetite out here we are starving”
You said dramatically falling to the floor and Chris joining while landing on top of you laughing
“Bucks coming over so I put him in charge”
Speaking of the devil he pulled up
“Buck” Chris yelled while you helped him get up from your position wanting to go hug Buck and help him with the food you sat there watching him eggarly take the drinks
Holding your hands out so Eddie could help you up you both followed buck and Chris into the house you put on a movie Chris loved because it was a treat today you were all going to be eating in the living room one of Chris favorite things because he could play video game immediately after which now that buck was here you had evan teams and it’s was bound to get wild

After so many rounds and playful agreements and Chris was getting tired
“Come on Chris I’ll put you to bed say goodnight to dad and buck” you helped him to his room and tucked him in and read him a story you head back to chat with the boys but while they were talking you started to zone off

As you were driving and you got closer to home the traffic gets worse and worse you both noticed a multiple car pile up you share a conserned look with Eddie emergency services weren’t there yet “we need to help them until help arrives chris stay here” you and Eddie step in to action help people out of cars those with minimal injuries to one side and keeping others calm until everyone arrives bucks you first to notice “Eddie y/n are you ok you got blood on you guy is Chris ok we’re you jn the pile up”
He starts checking you over “we’re fine buck just passing through and decided to help until until you guys finally showed up we helped who we could without tool we didn’t want to be doing more harm then good”
“Thanks guys but we’ll take it from here a gas truck flipped in front I’m afraid it’s not safe for your guy here” Bobby chimed in
“I’m staying cap you need all the help you can get there’s a spare uniform I can use” Eddie proclaimed
“ I’ll help too”
“No y/n you take Chris home please I need you both safe right and that’s as far from here”
You knew you couldn’t argue Chris safety was just as important so you agreed
“Ok but if things go south I won’t hesitate to leave him with Carla and come back”
“Deal” you got in the truck and drove away Chris was now asleep you managed to put him down so he wouldn’t worry but as you watched the news you saw the truck explode the new reporting a fire fighter was injured and you just hoped it wasn’t one of your teammates Chris woke up to the loud sound of the tv
“Is daddy ok”
“ I don’t know bud” you said trying to regain composere
“Can we call him”
But he didn’t answer
“If you went we can go to the station and wait for him there”

“ yeah let’s go”
You whole time you were anxiously waiting the 118s arrive it’s been a few hours since they got in under control by no word from them until they finally pulled up you ran to hug each and every one of them until Eddie you and Chris basically tacked him
“Thank goodness your all safe i was so worried when they said a firefighter was hurt ”
“It wasn’t anyone on the team the one who did Is expected to make a full recovery” cap informed you
“Yeah let me just change and we can head home before he falls asleep on us” Eddie said nugeding Chris who was still in his arms
“I’ll take him to the car” buck offered takeing him from Eddie and you lead them to your car
You watched him carefully put Chris down and strap him in you knew he was seconds away from falling i to a deep sleep it been to many emotions Eddie was definitely going to carry him in when you got home
You made small talk with buck until Eddie was ready to go “take care buck see you tomorrow” you gave him a big hug and Eddie pated his shoulder as you pulled on the the road buck was left there wondering why were the three of you even doing together chris and Eddie were supposed to be out of town and you were supposed to be apartment hunting buck didn’t want it to be true but everyday his fear became more real

You woke up early you looked over and Eddie was still asleep you slipped out and met you parents in the kitchen
“Good morning mija”
“Morning”
“Is Eddie still asleep”
“Yeah thought I’d let them both sleep in today we got a long drive home later”
“Mija I’m a little confused on your relationship with Eddie”
“ why”
“Well why are you not together you two would make a great couple you clearly care deeply for one another and Chris seems to be content with that you two even sleep in the same bed” your dad raised his eyebrows at that last comment
As Eddie woke up to join you guys he managed to hear your response to the matter
“I do care every much for them but we tried briefly but I don’t think the right feelings were there and it wasn’t the same as having him as a really good friend I’d rather not lose that again as for the bed it’s no big deal space is kinda limited sometimes so we make do”
Eddie made his presence known
“Good morning I thought I’d let Chris sleep in today he had a blast yesterday and it tuckered him out”
“Sure no problem we’ll save some breakfast for him why don’t you join us in the mean time”
Chris work up with the biggest smile and hunger ate everything on his plate and was enthusiastic to spend what little time they had left have all the fun

“Bye Chris I’ll miss you so much come visit me soon or I’ll come to you”
“Thanks grandma”
Your heart swelled at the bond that these two have made in such a short time of knowing each other eddie and your dad were loading up the truck and you helped Chris get settled in and off you went back home

“Wake up” Chris had managed to get in bed with both of you Trying to wake you guys up for the day ahead the light coming in through the windows i you groaned the hangover finally hitting “shh buddy y/n not feeling too well”
“Are we canceling the trip” his smile dropped
You quickly hugged him “ no of course not bud we are going no matter what” you and Eddie tickling him trying to get the smile back Eddie did most of the packing and driving considering your state you and Chris napping and jamming out in the back seat as you were getting close your were up to finish the rest of the dive so Eddie could rest a bit an hour later you were pulling in to the drive way you see your mom looking out the window and rush outside with your dad in tow pulling you into a hug before her eyes landed on Eddie helping Christopher out of the truck “Christopher, Eddie finally see you in person and I get to hug you” your parents wisked chris away while you and Eddie unpacked and settled in the guest room you let Chris have your room as it was more accessible and fitting for a kid you had a ton of games he could entertain himself if he gets overwhelmed at any time while you were here the rest of the day Christopher was glued to you mothers side the whole day visiting the animals, the garden cooking while you and Eddie got to chill with your dad they were getting along so well you almost got jealous but happiness filled the house you couldn’t feel anything but joy and comfort you went to join your mother and Chris almost finished with dinner so you started setting the table the rest of the night you all ate ,shared stories,and played games until Chris fell asleep in your fathers lap so you parents took the liberty to tuck him in
“Thank you for inviting us y/n”
“ no problem Ed’s it’s great have you here”
“It’s really great to give Chris these experiences with a ‘normal’ family dynamic especially since my parents are back in Texas”
“Yeah absolutely hope you both felt at home and had fun today”
“We did”
You both hug as your parents come back
“Chris is an absolute delight Eddie you did a great job bringing that out with your parenting” you dad commented

After some goodnights exchanges you all headed to bed

You woke up with you head pounding in a room that didn’t look the slightest bit familiar you looked over and yep you went home with the guy from the bar you got up slowly trying to get dressed and leave without him noticing you mad your way out but how where you going to get home buck was a no go considering you had many missed calls he was probably upset you ditched him so Eddie it was

“Omg y/n we’ve been worried sick bucks called me panicking saying he lost you”
“I’m fine I just accidentally went home with someone and I kinda need a ride”

“I’m fine buck I just drank a little too much Eddie coming to pick me up and take me to his right now don’t worry”
“Ok I’ll drop by and see how your doing later”
“Buck you don’t have to I’m going to be hungover not hurt”

Eddie pulled up as soon as you hung up
You got in the truck with your head pounding at every question Eddie had

Eddie heard you throwing up and rushed to your side aiding you then getting you back to bed and fell asleep next to you after holding your hair for the second time that night

“I was going to go apartment hunting but with all these rejections it feels like a waste of time now”
“ why don’t you stay with us we love having you around and your allowing us to go to your home seems more then fair”

You got Some sort of deja vu as you walked in to the 118 talking around one of the truck Eddie was the first to see you but held back so the other who hadn’t known of your return could greet you but Buck well he didn’t hold back he ran to you with open arms picking you up and spinning you around bringing you closer to the group “save some for us buck” chim teased as buck set you done and pulled you in to a hug you were absolutely filled with joy so thankful so such understanding friends it felt like no time has passed as you all fell back into a rhythm going out on calls with everything going smoothly until it was time to go home sadness came over you once again you felt like your were overstaying your welcome at the grant/Nash household it’s been extremely hard to find a apartment that would rent to you because of the stolen identity and the problems it cost Eddie saw your hesitation in heading out
“Hey y/n why don’t you join chis and I for dinner tonight he would be excited to see you”
A smile pulled on your face
“Sure I miss my little buddie”
…
“Hey Chris guess who I brought over”
You stepped out from behind Eddie opening your arms as he tried to reach you as fast as he could giving you a big hug

That night after dinner when your parents called you like they’ve been doing since you came back you officially introduced them to each other both pairs getting along really well by the end Chris wanted a bedtime story from his new grandparents as your mother now fondly referred to themselfs overjoyed to have a ‘grandchild’ to spoil you smiled as Eddie took the phone from Chris after he fell asleep
“Y/n any time you want to bring these handsome boys over we will be waiting here with open arms and a lot of love”
“Ok mom I love you and dad goodnight”
You hung up and turned to Eddie
“Well she fell in love with you guys if you don’t go visit she’ll come get y’all herself”
You chuckled
“Of course we’d be honored, why don’t you stay the night it’s really late and first thing Chris is doing tomorrow is ask when we are going constantly and you are going to deal with it” he stood up kissing your forehead and headed to bed but not before fighting over who was taking the couch

You were holed up in the guest room completely isolated trying to get things sorted out on the phone with official constantly Bobby gave you more time off it but it was Sunday breakfast but you didn’t even want to let the 118 know your were back but you desperately needed the bathroom hoping to sneak out but on your ways back you bumped into Eddie

You shushed him and pulled him into your room
Explaining what was going on
“Well I’m so happy your back we all miss you so much especially chris”
“Really I thought no one would miss me I was an bitchy absolute pain in the ass before I left I especially to you I thought surely I was hated now”
At this point you started tearing up

It’s been two weeks since you took a break form the 118 you were crashing at your parents and honestly it was the reset you desperately needed you loved the country side fresh air animals and family sure you missed your second family but they were probably not missing you after all you were rude bitchy and absent last time you saw them you’ve had lots of rebounds after Eddie not that you called them that because you were never really officially in a relationship but still it was nice to pretend you parents took a likening to Eddie even if they never met him the way you talked about him and Chris made them think of them as family too maybe someday your bring them over Chris would love it here if Eddie wasn’t mad at you i mean you kinda left on goodish terms but he could resent you now you were going back tonight arriving at around midnight to your apartment to find the key wasn’t working and it had crime scene tape all over you called Athena the only person who could maybe give you answers you called
“ hey I’m so sorry to wake you at this time but I was wondering if you had any information about a possible criminal that happened in my build more specifically my place”
“Y/n I think you need to come over so we can talk”
You basically raced to Bobby and Athena’s house the call leavening with a sense of dread
You arrived and you got there they were up makeing tea
“Y/n while you were gone and we had no way of contacting you we found out that your identity had been stolen and they swatted your apartment because of the crimes connected to your name lucky you weren’t home and you already had a report about suspicious activity on your credit cards and that helped clear your name but you still need to go testify and do a lot of paper work but you basically have to start completely from scratch now we agreed that you could stay with us until you can get sorted and we won’t have to tell anyone everything is at your discretion”
You needed a moment to process it but you also needed sleep

“What relationship we just fuck and hang out that’s it”
You knew it was harsh but you couldn’t care not right now not near you breaking point

Learning from your mistakes and being warned by Eddie that team had i field day teasing him you put extra effort in covering your own marks they’re more faded now but still you were going to try your hardest to keep them a secret first thing walking into the station buck quickly filled you in on Eddie’s situation you pretended to be surprised and man if you don’t do a good job one of the perks of living in la at some point you’ve been involved in some acting “there’s the lover boy” you announce pointing at Eddie
“Wow this is some nice work Ed” admiring your work
“ thanks you should have seen the other person” he quipped back and winked
You had to roll your eyes and leave before you started blushing
The rest of the the day went kinda tame you were partnered with buck in a house fire you managed to save every one with minimal injuries just mild smoke inhalation which will be treated easily at the hospital helping buck pack up hoses you chatted for a while “did you end up enjoying the club the other night y/n”
“Not really I was alone so I just decided to leave this thing with the bank has me all stressed out can’t even have fun” you grumbled
“Maybe I can help you I’m not great with numbers but maybe we can get to the bottom of something you free tonight”
“That’s great my place after shift”

You headed to the ambulance to regroup

You arrived at the 118 for your afternoon shift Eddie wasn’t scheduled today luckily avoiding the awkwardness after last nights events and the luck continued on all your calls today basically skipping into the station with your arm around buck smiles plastered to your faces as y’all were gushing about how well y’all handled a climbing incident pulling off your gear until your luck ran out turns out takeing off your jacket revealed a hickey left on your neck by Eddie chim was the first to start up with the jokes while hen pressed for more details nobody saw you and Eddie dancing except buck and everyone left before you so there guess was as good as none buck went suspiciously quiet at the possible realization you were just thankful he didn’t say nothing was it even against the rules to date or hook up with a coworker even if you wasn’t you sure as hell weren’t going to risk it and find out best course of action was to ignore and try to forget for now and that meant staying away from eddie for as long as possible resulting in missing outings with the crew keeping yourself busy with cleanup cooking or working out when you were not on calls most of the team understood thinking you were busy with your mystery man but the moment chim started teasing again this time in the presence of Eddie during dinner he had a shit eating grin on his face knowing he was the one who marked you up which caught you off guard you started choking On the food while buck rushed to your side to help dislodge the blockage and now instead of takeing attention off you it was all on you until you where saved by the bell the one on your phone but none the less you happily excused yourself “hello” “ hi this is lizbeth from the bank calling to inform you about your credit card you have gone over you limit too many times and it’s starting to affect you negatively” shit just what you needed

This whole thing with the credit card was the last thing you needed some of the charges didn’t even make sense the bank promised to look into further but it was stressing you out and when your stressed you want to have fun so on your way to a club you went you texted Buck to see if he’d join but he was busy that annoyed you for some reason meaning that left Eddie but would it be too awkward to see him alone again “hey Eddie what are you up to tonight”
“Nothing much Christopher is at a sleepover so I’m just playing video game and drinking beer”
“Oh i was wondering if you’d like to join me at the club I called buck too but he’s busy and it’s so boring here right now”
“Can’t really drive but your welcome to join me if you want”

You soon arrived at the Diaz residence ready to drink your ass off while playing games with Eddie

You woke up tangled in the sheets to a loud banging on the door which prompted Eddie to jump out of bed a scramble to find pants before the sound of the door opened and bucks cheerful voice filled your ears announcing his arrival before he headed for his room hoping to interrupt Eddie’s slumber but he didn’t get the chance as Eddie darted out and met him half way no shirt on as soon as Buck laid eyes on him he broke out in a smirk hair all tossed purple marking every viewable part of his body and not to mention to claw marks now Turning red as they ran down his torso and back he looked down to see clothes littering the living room floor kick your bra for emphasis “Eddie you dirty dirty dog” he clapped his hands together letting out a amused laugh “look at you she did a number on you no wonder you wouldn’t pick up” he remarked “what do you want buck”
“Nothing now you were clearly busy or are busy I’m never going to let you live this down bud”
Delivering a hard pat on the back makeing Eddie wince in discomfort add fuel to bucks amusement
As he backed away and left still chuckling
Eddie Returned to you
“Thank goodness I took an Uber here so he didn’t see my car” you said relived
“ well I wasn’t so lucky by tonight everyone is going to hear About this” he dropped his head in his hands annoyed
You put hand on his shoulders a massaged soothing him
“Come on Ed’s it’s buck he exaggerates maybe it won’t be that bad but just in case don’t let anyone see you with a shirt i sorry about that by the way”
“Well maybe you can make it up to me Chris is off to school directly from the sleepover and we could both use a shower” he grin while pulling you towards the bathroom
