Why does every Winx Club redesign on here make the girls ugly and unfashionable? At least give them cute outfits if you don’t want them to be pencil-thin.
They always look like they were drawn by some blue-haired they/them weeb that loves graphic novels and doesn’t believe in deodorant. Somewhere between anime freak and smelly furry

Why does every Winx Club redesign look like this…… they all look like they/thems
Tumblr media
So I wanted to remake that god awful fruit dress from season 7 with my redesigns.
Fruits from left to right: Orange, Pomegranate, Guava, Blueberry + Golden Dragon Fruit, Plum, and Strawberry.

Winx artists always make the most generic au’s and redesigns you’ll ever see lol

Looking back on this, I changed my mind. The original conflict between Bloom and Diaspro can still be viewed in a non-misogynistic manner because it involves Bloom inserting herself into other people’s personal lives for the sake of comfort. Bloom isn’t selfless, nor did she ever consider that Sky lied to her and that Diaspro was hurt in the process of it all. Diaspro was born into a wealthy family, conformed to a prim-and-proper princess persona, and grew up believing her entire life would fall into place, only for some raggedy “long lost princess” to crush her lifelong efforts. Diaspro’s bitter behaviour is justified… for a little while.
The real misogyny was reducing Diaspro’s role to the bitter ex-fiancée that sticks around like a bad rash. The real misogyny lies in giving Diaspro this (warranted but unnecessary) obsession over Sky, and making her unable to develop in any other way. The real misogyny lies in Bloom never acknowledging the other sides of the story and painting Diaspro to be the bad guy. Diaspro deserved a redemption arc and would have been a great ally for the Winx.
She bonded with Flora in Season 2 for gods sake, give us some secret Flora-Diaspro shopping sequences or something! I want a plot point where Flora and Diaspro are like hanging out semi-regularly, and Bloom kinda gets used to Diaspro’s presence so Flora urges Bloom to talk things out. It’s not hard.

“I think Winx Club is misogynistic and pits women against each other. Look at the Bloom/Sky/Diaspro situation for one.”

omg throwback to this post that shamed the Winx for their femininity 💕💕 I still stand by my points and will also add that 1) fashion is constantly evolving 2)nobody dresses the same way forever and 3) the way a person dresses does not reflect their personality and it shouldn’t have to
So i recently watched an entire video of every Winx transformation and here’s my thoughts for each.
Winx: Yep, it kind of sucks but then again, this is just the first transformation and its as cheesy as i remember. We can really see their personnality and what fairy they are. The fact that they say their names in the songs is kind of annoying but still, i wouldn’t change it for anything in the world!
Charmix: Its a bit generic and repetitive but still. It’s a bit useless too but i guess it was useful to them. It kind of looks like an excuse to zoom on their bodies tho…
Enchantix: Kind of girlier then the first one but still, i feel like its an actual improvement and not an excuse to change their clothing. They do look more powerful. We can still totally see what fairy they are and a bit of their personnality. Yep, this is still my favorite one.
Believix: As much as it kind of suits them, i think this one is a bit too girly for them. It’s not over the top but girlier would be too much. I mean, its not GREAT but i really like some of the costumes and the wings in this one. It still respects their styles but its close to crossing the line…
Roxy: She’s not exactly a transformation but seeing her transform felt like they just wanted to add another magical character for fun. Also, her wings are too big for a normal transformation.
Wings: At some point Bloom does some kind of thing to change their wings that just feels… Weird. Not wrong but a bit extreme if you ask me.
Sophix: This one is my favorite transformation music. It feels a bit too foral and you cant really see much of their personnalities but their colors are there and the outfits suit them so i kind of like it.
Lovix: Now this one is just plain up cheesy. Like an excuse to make them look christmasy. What they’re wearing doesn’t even look warm and look like they just threw some white on their outfits to get rid of it. I like the music but not the transformation.
Harmonix: Now that one just looks wrong. They look like fake girly mermaids. None of them has their personnality represented and it’s just generic. It wasn’t necessary.
Sirenix: That one looks seriously wrong. They’re taking their colors way too seriously and dont look like they have any once of personnality. It’s just plain and generic. At least they dont look impossibly girly…
Bloomix: I cant even begin to explain how wrong this one looks. It’s a bit too girly but the main problem its that it doesn’t fit ANY of them. The only one who looks good is Bloom. The rest all look ridiculous!
Mythix: I really dont like how they gave them wands. It just feels like a cliché fairy thing. They look a bit better reresented but their costumes are too girly.
Butterflix: The beginning had me wondering if they were in some kind of girly prep school… And then i realised that i hadn’t seen my fair share of generic. Their dresses all look girly and exactly the same. It was basically an excuse to change their costume without making any form of effort. It’s generic and unnecessary.
Tynix: Oh god no… Not DIAMONDS!!! This one horrified me! I’m not joking, i was horrified! It looks like a Covergirl add! Are they modeling or transforming?
Cosmix: This one looks wrong, badly animated, incredibly girly and they are unecessarily covered from head to toe.
Dreamix: This one, again, feels like an extreme modeling add wehere they want to look covered and sexy. They have no ounce of personnality showing and look extremely girly and awful. It’s too fancy and extravagent for them. If season 1 Winx saw this, they would have killed themselves to prevent it.

friendly reminder that if these redesigns isn’t okay
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then these ones shouldn’t be either (unless you’re actually a dark-skinned black person or a non-black artist who is heavily educated and can create poc characters respectfully without bordering on cultural appropriation or caricaturing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know why whitening your characters of color can be an extremely harmful thing to do, but why is just anybody allowed to darken a character of color? i get that it’s hard to find good dark skin representation in media but 1) brown-skinned black people are valid in their blackness without being darker than they are and 2) just because you feel the need to represent a culture that isn’t your own in your art doesn’t mean you have to
Tumblr media Tumblr media
im so sick of seeing aisha constantly being drawn too light or too dark by people outside of the black community for the sake of appearing to be a diverse creator. it’s weird. give us more brown-skinned aisha fanart

I’ve seen a couple fancasts for Totally Spies now that it’s relevant again and like 3 of them were racebent… Let’s be clear, none of them are black 😌😌 Alex is mixed-race, with Asian and Latina roots to be specific. Sam and Clover are both white. Nothing wrong with that! If you want fabulous spies of colour, more diverse cultural backgrounds, gender expressions, sexualities, then let showrunners and producers know that new characters are the way to go! Don’t accept racebent characters just because there’s general a lack of them, especially the originals already have an iconic look. Not every character needs to be racebent, and Sam and Clover weren’t even problematic for their whiteness. God.

Friendly reminder that this PrinceIvy guy sucks and is a piece of shit human being who hides behind the “they’re fictional characters and it’s MY account” as excuses to draw literal child p*rnography and also overly sexualize the male body.
He gives such little consideration to men who have bigger figures and don’t have skinny waists…. What a disgusting bitch I feel like he probably has several STD’s
How does the Winx Club fandom feel about that PrinceIvy guy?? We’ve all seen his art one place or another...
The guy who draws gorgeous female OC’s with many diverse backgrounds and body types:

But every single one of his male OC’s are drawn like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I could be wrong saying this and I don’t want to associate revealing clothing with sexualization but like... look at them? Sure he makes gorgeous art and with excellent detail, but there’s significantly less diversity in his male art, and it’s almost like he draws men for the straight female/gay male gaze. Take read this caption for example:
Tumblr media
“Let’s trigger those antis who say boys can’t look like this”
but nobody has ever come at him saying boys can’t look like the way he draws them. A few people just call him out for sexualizing his male characters, and not being as inclusive of male body types as he is with females and gender non-conforming people. (I think that he even used to draw 18+ art of them on his Patreon but I digress)
Idk where I’m going with this but like. I hate him? He just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it’s because I myself am a male that doesn’t look like all the men he draws or if there’s something genuinely wrong with how he presents the male anatomy.

Looks like they made a couple revisions to their merch designs… big problem considering Aisha and Flora should’ve looked more like this from the beginning.
They’re still not portrayed accurately, and quite pale in comparison to their canon skin tones but at least they’re capable of listening to fans.

This art style kicks ass but they really didn’t have to make Flora so pale… it’s official merch goddamit. Maybe if we boycott, they’ll stop producing the pale Flora ones with a correct-coloured Flora.

He’s disgusting if I’m being 100% honest
Like the oversexualization of his male oc’s and even the males in his fanart is unbelievably off-putting when you look at his art as a whole. Some people I follow on Instagram support him wholeheartedly just because he’s good at his art, but nobody ever says anything about how problematic his art really is
