headcanon that gwyn takes up knitting and practices by making all of her friends gifts, like hats, gloves, book cozies for the valkyries. she even makes cassian a pair of earmuffs for when he's flying in the cold. azriel wouldn't admit it but he feels a pang of jealousy when she gives cassian his gift. he'd grown to consider gwyn a friend, did she not think the same of him? it shouldn't hurt as much as it does but he shoves it down and does his best to ignore it

the next day during training, gwyn runs excitedly up to azriel. her eyes are glowing brilliantly and she wears the most beautiful smile he's ever seen, az composes himself and glances down to see her arms are filled with garments. she unfurls a scarf, the same shade of cobalt as his siphons and reaches up to wrap it around his neck, then she moves to his head, she'd made him matching earmuffs like cassian

gwyn smiles wider, if it were possible, admiring her work, and exclaims that he looks very handsome. she also apologizes for not having them ready sooner, she simply wanted to make sure they were fit for the night court's notorious shadowsinger. azriel feels incredibly stupid because she was practicing for him but he can't deny the fluttering he feels in his stomach at her generosity

gwyn gives him one last gift in the form of multiple tiny little hats, claiming she wasn't entirely sure if his shadows could wear hats but she didn't want them to feel left out either way. everyone in the training ring hears azriel's answering laugh, it's deep and joyous and so at odds with the image everyone associates with him

Rhys being protective of Gwyn just melts my heart because there’s a reason he’s so protective and it’s because he relates to what she’s been through and knows what trauma like that does to someone. And now it’s making me want to see more Rhys x Gwyn sibling-like interactions. Kinda like Azriel x Nesta and Feyre x Cassian.

Like just imagine Rhys randomly appearing at Valkyrie training one day and Gwyn is challenging Azriel to a duel. Rhys watches in disbelief because he’s never seen someone that doesn’t know Azriel for long challenge him like that. And then Rhys sees how far Gwyn has come and it makes him so happy, he tells Gwyn all of Azriels weaknesses and cheers her on just to piss Az off and Gwyn is loving every second of it…

i know canonically azriel and cassian made a whole list of things the valkyries did wrongly during the blood rite BUT my head canon is when gwyn recounts how she kept to the trees for days & nights to simply observe everything and how she lured the beasts out to maul/eat the illyrians…. az looks at her with admiration and pride because of all the spymaster traits she exhibited 🥲
