Fic where Matthew and Aaron are fucking and pining for More but not talking about it (classic trope for a reason), then somehow Aaron finds out Matthew is really into Carter too so he he somehow initiates a threesome but it’s the kind where he sits and watches and tells Matthew and Carter what they should do to each other AND he tells Carter how worked up Matthew gets when Aaron teases Matthew about how much he likes Carter in bed which embarrasses Matthew but carter is sooooo into it. And somehow through all of this Aaron and Matthew confess their feelings and all three of them live HEA :) (I feel like Carter could easily be characterized as a really forthcoming and blunt communicator so maybe he gets the ball rolling on that front by just being like you guys clearly have feelings for each other lol why aren’t you official yet)

It’s probably incredibly easy for Aaron to tell how into Carter Matthew is after sleeping with him for a season, to know what he looks like when he’s turned on, to recognize how flustered he gets when Carter gives him attention, the way he might test his theory by mentioning how hot a pass he made to carter was while they’re fooling around after a game, how he’d watch for Matthew’s reaction and push it a little further, “he's so good at finishing your passes, I bet he’d be good with you like this too.”

Matthew going shivery underneath Aaron, and his breath hitching, and Aaron getting so smug about being right but setting it aside for later because they have more pressing matters at hand

maybe Aaron sets something up for Matthew’s birthday this season, Aaron telling Matthew to show carter how good he is with his mouth, telling carter exactly how Matthew likes to be touched, interspersed with how Matthew gets off faster every time Aaron teases him about his crush on carter in bed, and carter catches on pretty fast at how he can use it too, starts telling Matthew how much Aaron must care about him to share him like this, to put his feelings aside and give him what he wants for his birthday, matthew absolutely sex stupid and whimpering about how perfect Aaron is and how good he is to him

hi again! thank you for the mattdrai explanation! maybe it’s not really my thing, but I saw your tags and I’m defffffff interested in both carter and aaron! I’ve been really loving all the content I see of him loving bob and benny!

okay since you and another anon both asked me about carter and aaron, i'm going to give you the run down on matthew/carter here, and then the run down on aaron/matthew in the next one because i have A LOT OF PHOTOS!!!

anyway look at how matthew and carter loooook at each other

and here's carter leaning back against matthew's spread thigh

and them smushed together with absolutely no space because why not

and carter's hand on matthew's hip while he's getting up from his knees

and posing for each other's milestone photos even though they didn't contribute on the goals

and this moment of matthew jumping and tucking his face against carter's neck which i am 100% ended with matthew kissing carter's neck

anyway i really like them because they have INSAAAANE chemistry on the ice (like, carter had 73 points last season and he combined on 50 of them with matthew) and they really like playing with each other

still not over this one because the question was only about barkov but carter couldn't help but bring matthew up!!!!

hi! I’m not really sure why so many people ship mattdrai, and I was just wondering what it is about them that you like personally? I’m not usually someone who can see ships unless they have a lot of “canon” content, and I’ve seen them only interact like twice. can you help me see it?

hiiiii anon! i like mattdrai so much because as individuals matthew and leon are veeeery similar. they're two sides of the same "yappy alternate captain who likes to start shit and is obsessed with his quieter captain" coin and from the interactions they have had on the ice it's very clear that they have FUN riling each other up and that kind of dynamic has always been my favorite across all my fandoms.

also, i definitely get where you're coming from with canon content but from a writing and creating stand point it's sooooo fun to not really have anything but their personalities and canon events to work with!

but before i link you to the mattdrai primer, and some of my favorite canon moments, i'm going to say something super insane and say if canon ships are more your speed you should definitely just get into all matthew and his teammates because there's sooooo much good stuff going on in the panthers locker room lmao

anyway, here's a pretty comprehensive primer for their ~lore up to November 2023 and a list of things not mentioned in it but i'm constantly thinking about:

that time leon very gently grabbed matthew by the waist to pull him away from mike smith

(much funnier and compelling behavior because darnell nurse comes in after this and just pulls matthew back by the neck)

2. the way leon is pretty well known for zooming into scrums when connor's involved, but has been known to just stand by and watch while connor and matthew get into it.

and then again earlier this season:

(this is THE most compelling thing about matthew and leon's actual canon, like WHY DOES HE DO THAT?? what's different about matthew???)

3. that time in december 2022 one of the oilers' charity partners chirped matthew in the comments of one of leon's friends & family puma sponcons and instead of deleting the comment, he just deleted the whole post (which, if you scroll through his feed, you know he doesn't delete his sponcon posts lmao)

4. and then of course, my favorite hidden gem, the fact that matthew got some of his game worn jerseys from the 2023 asg signed by all the guys there, and then all the guys from the atlantic team (8:05), so somewhere in matthew's possession he has a jersey he asked leon to sign :')

The timing of you talking about your social media fic concept is actually so funny because I just came here to discuss Matthew’s skill with the media. There’s a comment on the panthers subreddit where someone pointed out that Monty has been way more open and fun with the media than he used to be and I think Pomo is partly to thank for that but also imo Matthew deserves sooooo much credit for how loose the team is these days. He got an insane amount of attention last year and took it all in stride, and I have to think the rest of the boys saw that it wasn’t a bad thing for him to show off his personality a bit, like his play on the ice didn’t suffer at all and he only became more popular. I know cousins isn’t exactly beloved by any of us but seeing Monty wear that shirt was so cute and fun and imo we’d never get that kind of thing without Matthew setting a good example with the media!!

yeah, just from the way the guys talk, it seems like they all agree that bringing in paul and matthew changed the panthers culture sooo much! i think matthew's spike in personality during the playoffs probably made some of them more comfortable with the attention but i also think they've just got a really good group over there and are all kind of obsessed with each other to the point it's hard to suppress it

also i think that the media there, especially the panthers' social team, have worked up a pretty good repertoire with the guys to the point they feel comfortable with them just in general

i love this team sooo much :')
