Artist and Collector. I love Video Games, specifically Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Animal Crossing and the Sims. I hope to post my art here at some point but for now you'll have to deal with whatever I want to reblog.
Spoke to a gen z person the other night and apparently the young folks don't know about the very legal sites from which you can access public domain media (including Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and other Victorian gothic horror stories)?
Like this young person didn't even know about goddamn Gutenberg which is a SHAME. I linked to it and they went "aw yiss time to do a theft" and I was like "I mean yo ho ho and all that, sure, but. you know gutenberg is entirely legal, right?"
Anyway I'm gonna put this in a few Choice Tags (sorry dracula fans I DID mention it though so it's fair game) and then put some Cool Links in a reblog so this post will still show UP in said tags lmao.
Titanic: Project 401 allows you explore a jaw-droppingly authentic recreation of the RMS Titanic, from first class all the way down to the engine rooms.
I hope this helps anyone who's trying to design their oc using a wheelchair, it's not a complete guide but I tried my best! deffo do more research if you're writing them as a character
Talked to my partner today about the Biblioteca Historica system project because he found my library textbook and volume 3 of the Encyclopedia Eorzea sitting on the couch. (He also plays XIV)
He asked about other places, and I mentioned my plan to also figure out some sort of system for the Scholasticate (I'm tentatively calling it the Halonic system) and whether the Biblioteca Historica system could have feasibly spread outside of Sharlayan (currently thinking maybe, but since most libraries that we know of are specialized collections like the one at the Thaumaturge's Guild in Ul'dah, it's more likely that they've got their own collection-specific system of organization).
Then he asked about Hingashi, and I immediately decided that any Hingan library would just straight-up use the Nippon Decimal System.
reminder to worldbuilders: don't get caught up in things that aren't important to the story you're writing, like plot and characters! instead, try to focus on what readers actually care about: detailed plate tectonics
I keep amassing reference books on the most strangest range of topics and idk I kinda love it
These are lowkey so useful for worldbuilding and as a jumping off point because I can just look up herbs and change them / adjust them for worldbuilding
Okay so I went through absolute fucking hell trying to find a pc case that had a drive bay and wasn’t utter dogwater. I’m so angry at the shit big corpo is pulling lately and I’m known quite well amongst my friends as being that rabid local media bitch but like if you don’t own it!! It’s not yours!!! I rip all my dvds and keep them in a big media server. I buy my music online from stores that still give mp3 files and I am doing everything in my power to fully and truly own what I pay for.
It legitimately boils my blood how everything seems to be gearing towards an economy of pure fucking vaporware. It’s corporate vampirism and I hate it
RB if you think CD drives in computers are not obsolete, but in fact still necessary, despite being artificially phased out
