“Os livros não matam a fome, não suprimem a miséria, não acabam com as desigualdades e com as injustiças do mundo, mas consolam as almas, e fazem-nos sonhar.” Olavo Bilac

If you feel like you’ve seen this alread, that’s normal. This list of recommendation has been previously posted on my first account @praestantias which has been deleted for some reasons. So here I am, reposting it.
Hating how elitist and eurocentric the dark academia community became, I would truly appreciate that you leave some recommendation of book written by people of color, for I noticed that I am guilty of the eurocentric part, but I am really want to educate myself and read more non-white books.
Thank you for your suggestions!

Personal pronouns, 1st and 2nd person
1st and 2nd personal pronouns (sing and plur) follow their own declension, and may have reflexive value
1st person, singular and plural
Tumblr media
2nd person, singular and plural
Tumblr media
→ nota bene ←
sometimes you will find the intensifier suffix -met attached to personal pronouns; the translation will be: egomet = really me (lit. really I) etc
the 2nd person pronoun may be intensified with -te along -met → tibimet / tute
the complement of company with a personal pronoun is expressed by postponing the preposition: with me = mecum;
with you = tecum;
with us = nobiscum;
with you = vobiscum
personal pronouns in Latin are generally implied, and are expressed only to put more emphasis on the person we are referring to → verb endings already signal the person, that's why you don't need to write the personal pronoun every single time, same as in Italian or Spanish or French
EXERCISE
Translate:
A vobis, amici benignis atque fidis, auxilium sine mora petemus
Tecum libenter Romam veniam
Me non cupiditas ducit, sed fides (Cicero)
Egomet mihi non credo (Plautus)
Vos mihi optimi (the best) testes eritis (Cicero)
