Can somebody help me find this succession post? I think there were two screenshots, one with Tom and Shiv and one with Tom and Greg, and caption was something like “when you are in love with two people but none of them loves you back”

Re: Succession. There is hope for TomShiv baby. Tom actually will be a good and doting father? Especially if it’s a girl. He simply wasn’t raised as messed up as the siblings. He had a nice childhood in Minnesota. He gives off soccer dad energy.

Tom yelling at Greg in the future because “The dance recital didn’t go exactly right” is a scenario.

If Succession had a fifth season I would love for another character to be introduced who is just so clearly a great successor for Tom. Like he’s intelligent, maybe he graduated from Cornell too. He knows the ropes. He and Tom get on pretty well and Greg notices, which makes him all jealous and needy.

And I would love Tom the genuinely be torn. This new guy is clearly the right choice- and it makes Tom’s affections for Greg all the more apparent (because Tom is still considering Greg despite the other guy being a much better fit).

Tom goes to an auction with Greg and is all excited about some rare vintage car. He’s so sure he’s going to get it, but in the middle of the bid-war some Silicon Valley lizard person makes a bid that not even Tom can match.

To not feel emasculated in front of Greg, Tom decides to bid on some other random vintage car and wins. He tries to make it seem like he still got what he wanted somehow. He pulls up his phone and starts researching it, he shows Greg “See, Greg. It’s an original prototype. I own a piece of Porsche’s history”

“Oh wow! Is it- uh- is it still safe to drive? If it’s a prototype?”

“Of course it is!” Tom immediately shuts Greg down, but he genuinely doesn’t know and it kinda freaks him out.

Later in the day Tom gets a call and has to leave the auction, which means he begrudgingly hands over his new car’s keys to Greg. He tells him to be careful. Watch out for potholes. Don’t even hit a bug with with because it’s exploded stomach acid could ruin the paint job.

So Greg drives it, and he’s almost nauseatingly nervous at first. But then he sees how people on the street react to the car and he starts to feel like The Shit. At a red light he sees a lady staring, one that Tom would probably find pretty, so he rolls down the window to make conversation.

“It’s an original prototype” he says, almost too soft to detect, but then his voice suddenly swells up “it’s sorta like driving a, uh, a piece of Porsche’s history”. She doesn’t really care but is smiling politely. The light turns green and the cars behind Greg start to honk

“Oh- that’s my cue!” Greg says and starts to drive off, instantly hitting a cyclist that he didn’t see (they’re fine but the hood of the car is fucked).

Greg anxiously waits for Tom to come back home, he’s too scared to call him and tell him over the phone.

When Tom gets there, he honest to god doesn’t care about what happened to the car, but it’s a good excuse to yell at Greg. So he spends nearly and hour berating him. Maybe he even threatens to take away Greg’s bonus, to “pay for the damages”. But really he’s just being a dick to Greg because it amuses him.

Adding onto this to say that the only other characters to call Tom “Tommy” are his parents. Aka people who love him and care for him. I thinks it’s so sweet Greg, Tom’s mom, and Tom’s dad call him “Tommy”. It’s so tender.

Now that I think about it, isn't greg the only one who called him tommy and tom the only one who called him gregory in the show? Hmm thoughts are being thunk

#so the first scene it’s Tom’s confession that he’s been seduced by Greg #and the second scene is the seduction in question #Tom isn’t necessarily a wealthy widow yet but he’s certainly to become one by pushing his wife down the stairs #And Greg was to be seduced later during their fried songbird dinner #Tom recognizes that Greg is still human and tender in the hospital scene #his sad eyes show it all #and he quickly shows Greg kindness #offering to look out for him #and in an effort to further demonsate that he’s ‘not some beast’ he takes Greg out to dinner #and reveals that he’s a ‘nudie turtle’ as well #that they’re two of the same #they’re both outsiders and they’re not necessarily as cutthroat and cursed as the Roys #and they become inseparable #Tomgreg
