Week 5 Reflection

What Went Well?

I have managed to come up with another concept i really like however this was hand drawn and I have not yet applied colour too it. I have also researched more into digital art and a bit within the industry. 

What Didn’t Go Well?

I have not made as much progress with my project as i would like to because I am having to focus on researching. I also have not been able to install Photoshop and I am not sure why it will not allow me to as i have the space in my HDD.

What To Do Next Week?

Next week I will have more concepts with more detail applied to them. I will also Add more to my previous blog posts as the are not detailed enough compared to my other ones.

Further Development

Here are some more concept and quick sketches. My favourite is the the one in the top left corner. This is because of the uniqueness of the blades extending out of the cheeks. I also like the length of the creature and is certainly within my top 3 of all my concepts.

Audience Research

This project is a passion project and I have always wondered what could be deeper within the depth of the ocean. I also like the unknown which is why my project is my own creation an not just my own spin on something that already exists. This is also a skill that I really want to get better at and i feel that I have always had some skill with drawing but now i want to improve on that.

QI: SO EP 3 Oceans

This is a short part of the entire episode where they talk about what makes sharks scary and other facts like the amount of people that have died to them. The thing that makes them scary is their teeth. This is why for my creature the teeth will most likely be very rigid to give off a tense image.

Remote Work Update

My work has been changed too mainly drawing on paper however Photoshop has become free for us students to use. However I don’t own a graphics tablet so the art will not be to the same level of standard if i do decide to use this software more. At the moment i am unable to install Photoshop and I am not sure why.

Weekly reflection 4

What Went Well?

This week i have managed to make two completely different concepts using a graphics tablet on Photoshop. I like both of these concepts however i still believe my “GhostFish” to be my best one so far. I have also managed to re plan my work due to the Covid-19 Virus. 

What Didn’t Go Well?

Overall I feel as if I did not advance very far with my project. This is due to me missing two days of college because of the Covid-19 Virus and me self isolating. Now college has been completely shut so the rest of my work will be hand drawn most of the time.

What To Do Next Week?

I might use these videos to further develop my artistic skills and enhance my creativity.

Star Wars Ep 1 Fish

This video shows a multitude of different creatures all in different shapes and sizes. My favourite one is the large eel like creature with two pincers at the front. This is because it looks unnatural but still manages to look good. There is nothing in this video that i dislike and I might take inspiration from the eel like creature.

Planning Presentation

My Final art work will be presented on a screen. while it is on screen i will be answering and talking about my work and why i did what i did. I will also share the processes of my work within discord servers i am in and possibly my Instagram to get opinions of others. With these opinions i will adapt and change my final piece of work.

COVID-19 Remote Work

Due to the COVID-19 virus the amount of time I spend in college will be reduced this means I will not have access to software like Photoshop which I have recently started to use. The same applies for a graphics tablet. I will still be able to draw my concepts and ideas on paper and keep doing blog work at home as I have a PC. My Gantt chart will remain fairly similar as most of my FMP does not require me to be using all of the software/hardware. For the time being I will still be attending college as normal. However this could soon change with either the college being shut down or me being self isolated for 2 week due to my parents thinking of my safety.

Weekly Reflection 3

What Went Well?

I managed to develop two concepts over the week that I am happy with but also can develop further. I have also done more research into games like ABZU and No Mans Sky. Researching this has given me more ideas that I will create next week.I also started to use photoshop and include colour which added more detail to the image and also allows me to edit it more easily.

What Didn't Go Well?

Firstly I missed a dat of college which put me behind but I have now caught up to date. I also feel that using the graphic table for the first time has slowed down my work even though I am enjoying learning how to use it.

What To Do Next Week?

Next week I will have more concepts with more detail applied to them. I will also have explored more into real life creatures and mythical creatures.

GhostFish

Here is my second concept. It is ghostly like and similar to an angler fish. I like this and I will develop it further with time.
