His brows furrowed in confusion, unsure of what the red head was talking about. He couldn't exactly recall adding anything new to the house -- still he followed her into the room to see what had caught her attention. "Oh," the man chuckled lightly when he saw exactly what she was talking about. "To be honest, I'm not too sure what it is either. Bella saw it at a store and wanted it so --you know how that goes." the man shrugged slightly. His daughter had a certain curiosity about odd things; he found it kind of cool.

She reaches out to touch it, but an inner instinct urges her not to and her fingertips hover tentatively in mid-air instead. The redhead wonders for a moment if it's even real, or if she's being pulled in death's unavoidable direction; the darkness leaving her little breadcrumbed clues to follow. "You do see it, right?" She quizzes, her periphery clocking the company that's rejoined her. "What is it?"

You're driving someone's chasing us." The man said, looking behind them. Luckily the street weren't all that busy at this time an hour.

SLOANE WAS DRIVING FASTER THAN SHE HAD any real right to - like she had somewhere she really needed to be. lost in the volume of the song that was screaming from the speakers, it took an unexpected stop sign for her to snap back into her own head. "whoa," she mumbled, glancing over sheepishly at the passenger seat. "sorry." her voice was flat but jagged, like it was scratching her throat. "sorry. what were you just saying? i missed it."

After a twelve hour shift, Beckham stopped at the diner to grab a quick bite before heading home. While nursing a glass of water and french fries, he people watched. People could be quite intriguing when nobody was looking. He chuckled lightly, catching Apple just as spit up a little bit while laughing.

"No, not at all. Not even a little bit." he said, chuckling lightly as he reached for one of his own fries. "What are you watching?"

Apple scrolled through her feed watching random videos and laughing to herself. Her thoughts blank of thoughts or worries then out of the blur she spilled... "You're supposed to be in line with the others." she masked her voice with a deeper tone, imitating the exact quote from the movie. In her attempt she spitballed with some saliva falling onto her lower lick which she then cleared with the back of her hand before bursting into a laugh and reached for her snack. Feeling a hot stare as she went to put a chip in her mouth Apple glanced up and made a face. "What? Did you want some?"

BACKSTORY ⸻

Born into a Marina settling family, Beck had never needed much. He went to the best schools the island could provide and did about as well as you could expect for a child born in wealth.

Despite his family's connection in tech, Beck found a love for medicine unlike any other and quickly became one of the island's most involved doctors.

He set up a foundation to help the lower income communities in Marina access free or low-cost medical care which his family's wealth funds.

While working as a resident in MGH a few years back, Beck met and fell in love with [ WANTED CONNECTION ] and the two quickly became a couple. It was one of his first real relationships and while he did everything in his power to be there for her and further their relationship, overtime his job took too much of his time and the two ended up separating.

Beck had always let it known that his career came first above all. There wasn't much else to do, and while he did love her dearly his work provided so many opportunities for others in the island.

Their relationship did not however become one of the past as the two shared a beautiful baby girl named Bella.

They hold 50-50 custody of her although she does live with her mother primarily.

His bigger issue fell in comparison, and the highs not living up to what he once knew. The approval from his parents that never came. "Yea, dating is not for the weak. Is that your current situation?"

Adaline shrugs her shoulders. "Depends on how you want to think about it. We may all have an ex like that but to let them have so much control over your life that you miss out on other people? Nah. Mine's a fucking complicated piece of shit yet I'd never hold that against them or allow them to keep me from exploring other people." Even if she would end up their bed eventually... again. Her head turns to look over at him, pressing her lips together. "It can be simple until you end up in bed with a psycho who clings onto the idea of a future with you because you know how to get them off." She exhales. "I feel like dating as a whole is a sticky mess."
