Now that i am not in the kpop fan-sphere and just listen to the music i like (without engaging into everything else that makes the idols a product more than people) and i don't keep up with newer groups and updates, i have to say that every time i bump into new songs everything sounds so similar and boring like,, it's so so comercial now, even older groups got into this comercial music lane.

It is not inherently bad, as in if the idols like the type of music they "produce" that's cool you know, everyone has a different taste, but it is bad in the sense that it's all just "money, money, spend, tiktok, tiktok, dance challenge, catchy, basic, money, pretty idols and more then money". I guess it has always been like that in a way but at least they were more experimental before. We also had so many groups with idols that would be considered "ugly" now and a great variation of voices, but now they all look like instagram models with big eyes, plump lips and manequin bodies. This is not a hatepost again the idols (they just fell into the trap that is the kpop industry) but the companies!! They know what they're doing when the only idols they debut fit in a certain standard and make them starve for months.

Anyway this rant is all because of some cool TVXQ songs that came on my spotify while i was playing minecraft. And i miss Block B and their weird ass concepts, at least i can still trust Red Velvet and NCT sometimes (only Taeyong let's be honest he's the one keeping them weird) to deliver the weird music videos.... red velvet you will always be famous 🙏

#THIS and also the western-inization of everything makes it feel so less kpop-ish #like i mean kpop has always been about being perfect as well but most songs today feel so bland like where is the whimsy where is the joy #no song on 4th gen has come close to the joyfulness of catallena or bar bar bar or Her #I suppose silly concepts arent really popular anymore but idkk kpop feels less andless like kpop and more like just companies selling dolls #i miss groups like block b thats so real
