Hi...if you don't mind, can I ask something from Blue Lock? What do you think are Bachira and Isagi’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic? Sorry if you've answered these questions before.....

Bachira

Strengths:

He is so mentally strong. Even as a child, he wouldn’t let other kids’ words get to him. He never backs down from a challenge, and also quickly picks himself up. Even when he felt lost in the 4v4 match during the second selection, he was able to shake it off fast and force a rebirth.

Weakness:

... We haven’t seen much of Bachira in the manga recently, so I can’t tell. And after second selection, it’s hard to pinpoint a weakness he has. He has lost multiple games in the NEL arc, but I believe that’s more of the writer’s problem and not really in his character itself.

But if it’s not a writing problem… then perhaps his weakness is that his goal is not clear enough. He’s getting stronger and evolving his monster, and like everybody else in Blue Lock, he is aiming to be the #1 striker but… I guess his goal is not concrete or focused enough? (Or it just seems that way coz we are hardly privy to Bachira’s thoughts.) I really don’t know.

Isagi

Strengths:

Everything he does, he does for the sake of winning. And it’s this one-track mind that lets him excel at Blue Lock. His insights on the game also gives him the confidence to direct other players, allowing him to use anything and anyone to his advantage.

Weakness:

He thinks of everything that Ego says as some kind of gospel. He never once questioned the man’s teachings because, at the moment, it serves him well. The one time he went against Ego was probably during the U20 match, but back then Ego was just pretending to throw in the game, so I’m not counting it.

I’m not updated on the manga, so I don’t know how he’s playing right now but… As long as Ego’s philosophy keeps him winning, Isagi will never be able to see past it. If one day he loses despite following everything Ego says to the letter, then it’s gonna break him immensely.

And he will lose. He must lose if Kaneshiro wants to keep the story going after the NEL arc. The protagonist cannot win all the time. And once you’re at the top, the only place left to go is down.

BachiSagi

I am a sucker for friends to lovers, but even more so for teammates/partners to lovers. Two individuals diligently working on themselves so they can stand by each other’s side as equals. Supporting each other every step of the way and inspiring each other to aim even higher. That’s the good stuff.

I don’t talk much about Yuri on Ice here, but it was one of my most memorable fandoms and also what got me into fanfiction.

I joined the fandom a bit late, at post-episode 9, but the show was still airing then at least. And the fandom was crazy. After every new episode, you’d immediately see every scene in gifs. And this was before the Tumblr porn ban, so there were much more active users.

Every post on my dash would be about Yuri on Ice, and there was just so much interaction between different fans. One of the most popular YOI fanfics even developed a fandom of its own. The writer’s entire Tumblr blog was practically full of asks from their readers. I myself had a yoi-centric blog.

Honestly, I don’t really miss YOI, having found new different stories that I fell more in love with. And I’ve long moved on from the fandom as well.

What I do miss, though, is the kind of fandom activity it had that I don’t really see much here on Tumbr anymore. People reblogged more. Fanfic readers interacted with writers. Gifmakers everywhere. It was… just so alive, you know?

Later, I deleted my Tumblr account to focus on college. It wasn’t until late 2019 that I came back here, but I wasn’t really active then. It was just so quiet here...

Then in 2022, my desire to be part of a Tumblr fandom was rekindled. Blue Lock had just started airing, and I was invested. I came here on Tumblr, hoping to see the kind of energy I once saw in the YOI fandom but… there was none. Posts about it were few, and I didn’t often see gifs after each ep… I created @fyeahbachisagi to help fill in this gap in the fandom, but when I just started, it was honestly like me talking at a wall...

Fandom culture has changed so much since YOI’s time. You can still find joy, of course, but it’s just so much more different now...

Name Change!

After years of going by Lizonka/lizzieonka, I will finally be changing my online name.

The new name will be Miya. And the new url will be @miyamiwu (don't follow this blog, I just made it to claim the url in advance). The change will be reflected here on Tumblr on my birthday on May 1.

Why the change?

For quite some time now, I've wanted a name that was more Asian-sounding because, well, aside from being Asian, all the media I engage in are Asian. Going by a Russian name just didn't make sense when nothing about me or my posts is Russian.

(As for why I had a Russian name, blame Yuri on Ice 😩)

I initially wanted to steal the name of my OC, Maya, for this change because it's such a beautiful word in my language (sorry, Maya, I won't take your name anymore. You can keep it). Unfortunately, “Maya” and all the good variations of it that I could think of are already taken here on Tumblr 😔

Then earlier, while scrolling on the dash, I came across a video of an orange cat and found myself meowing (as I tend to whenever I see a cat), but with the meow sounding more like “miyaaa”. And I'm like, “hey ‘Miya’ isn't that different from ‘Maya,’ and it's also cute.” So here I am.

Of course, the username “miya” alone is already taken on every major platform, so I have to add something to it. I came up with different lovely usernames here on Tumblr, only to find that they've already been taken on other sites. And I really didn't want to use different usernames on different sites coz that can get confusing fast so... I ended up just adding “Miwu” at the end.

The name Miwu comes from the danmei novel,The Cat’s Inheritance, and it's the name the cat protagonist gave to his human. And like Miya, it also sounds like a cat’s meow 😚

And there you have it! Fully making the switch will take a while, though, especially since my fandom emails and website both go by Lizonka/lizzieonka. (Thankfully, the domain name expires next year, so I won't feel too bad about it. Buying a new domain name, however, is not yet on the budget...)

I'll be going by lizzieonka until the rest of the month. But for starters, I went ahead and changed my avatar (now featuring my two orange cats uwu)

Have you seen the new Blue Lock exhibition in Japan to celebrate Episode Nagi? There's one Q&A part where Isagi is asked who he would want to live with and he answered Bachira with no hesitation then said that he'd never get tired of him insinuating they'd live together forever. I'm cri they're so domestic.
