Out of curiosity and also guilt over my own coffee intake. I wanna ask:
Now I'm not talking about when you're studying and so you drink 3x the usual amount or something like that. This isn't me asking what your record is. I'm talking about the most basic, average day, how many coffees you drink?

I bought this telescope for $40 just because I think it's pretty and now it's in my guest room so that people can... spy on my neighbors, I guess. This room still needs lots of work.

it’s okay to do things that make your symptoms worse (as long as you’ll stay safe)
every once in a while you need to eat something yummy. or go on a walk. or a trip to the zoo. take a hot shower. cry your eyes out. dance. listen to music. draw for way to long. write. laugh. sit in a cafe with a friend. paint your nails. dye your hair. go on a run. pet a cat
sometimes you need to do things that are cathartic or make yourself feel alive. sometimes you need the reminder of why you’re fighting so hard to stay alive
this is your reminder that just because it makes your symptoms worse, it isn’t always the wrong thing to do. there can be value in these actions

The Doppler effect is a mysterious wavelength-shifting phenomenon which seems to primarily affect sirens, which is why the 🚨 emoji is red.
Doppler Effect [Explained]
Transcript
[Miss Lenhart is pointing with a stick to a whiteboard with various scientific drawings and words, including but not only a graph.] Miss Lenhart: The more distant a galaxy is, the redder its light. Miss Lenhart: Why? Well, that's an interesting question.
[Zoom in on Miss Lenhart.] Miss Lenhart: Ever notice how, when a siren is approaching, it sounds like Bweeeeeeeeee...
[Zoom in on Miss Lenhart with her arms raised.] Miss Lenhart: ...but then it zooms past you and goes Nyeeeeooooowww? Miss Lenhart: And sometimes they hit a button that makes it go Pyeew! Pyeew! really loud?
[Miss Lenhart with her finger raised is standing in front of the whiteboard and holding the stick down.] Miss Lenhart: And in Europe they go Ooooeeeeooooeeee... Off-panel voice: So why are galaxies red? Miss Lenhart: Oh, no idea. Miss Lenhart: Anyway, another siren I like is...

WIBTA for posting my cross stitch of someone else's pixel art? 🪡🧵
Yea this is more low stakes but like also uh... So basically I follow this artist and they make really, really good pixel art. They also have a shop that sells their art and in particular cross stitch patterns for some of their pixel art. Problem is, the pattern and the original art don't match completely, like the colours and slightly off and there's less colours and detail overall in the pattern being sold
Thing is, I really, really liked one particular art and I wanted to stitch it. But I don't like the pattern the artist is selling. So I pulled up one of those pattern converting websites and made a pattern based off the same art, but with more colours so it looks more like the original.
I'm already partially stitching the work and I want to post it online when I'm done, but uh, that sounds like a bit of a dick move? Like it's the artist's art and they clearly had a shop selling a pattern so it seems kinda dirty to wave around a work that I did without paying them. But on the other hand, the artist didn't create this specific pattern I converted to include more colours. Of course I do plan on giving them credit for the original art, but would that be enough? Should I add a link to the shop/leave a tip?

I feel a magnetic sexual pull towards specific people
I want to have sex with specific people
I want to see specific people naked
I feel aroused by specific people
I have sexual fantasies about specific people
I just intuitively know when I'm sexually attracted to someone
I have indicators to my sexual attraction which aren't listed here
All of the above

Pre-emptive apologies for manifesting more Trant-posting into the world and accelerating our collective entroponetic demise, but I need to share yesterday's Discord findings with @renmorris and @mindblownie
1. in Trant's pyrholidon slip-up, he tells Harry that his story shouldn't be hard to guess in a way that I think can be read as both "cops and addiction, you know perfectly well how that goes" and "dude you know me, personally, we did them drugs together"
2. this opens the possibility of Harry and Trant watching the fringe art house movies together while high on pyrholidon. At any rate, Having Opinions About Art is Trant's thing and also an established old Harry trait
3. as it were, we also know where that established old Harry trait comes from. oh yes we do. it comes from Dora. literally her job.
4. this in turn manifests the vanishingly implausible (but hilarious) chance that Harry's unnamed friend whom he was discussing entroponetics with as Dora smoked nearby may have been none other than Trant. Like he was her art acquaintance to begin with and that's how he got roped into the 41st.
THEREFORE: Harry got Trant in the divorce. thanks for coming to our TED talk

Humans are unstoppable...Until they aren’t.
I’m not the most eloquent writer, but I’ve had this idea kicking around for a while and figured I’d put it out into the universe.
A lot of the basis for the “humans are space orcs” stuff is the idea that we’re pretty durable compared to many species, yeah? When it comes to physical trauma, we can bounce back from most things that don’t kill us outright, especially given the benefit of hypothetical space-age technology, and adrenaline is one heck of a drug when it comes to functioning under stress.
But that doesn’t make us unkillable, and even though we can survive debilitating injuries and not die from shock, it doesn’t mean it’s fun. Dying of shock sucks, but at least it’s probably quick.
So - Imagine a ship, adrift in space, slowly being drawn into a star or something. In order to save the ship, someone has to repair the hyper-quantum-relay-majig on the hull or in the engine or whatever. Bit of a problem though- there’s a ton of deadly, deadly radiation (Wrath of Khan style) or poisonous fumes or, I dunno, electrical current, between the crew and the repair. Like, enough to kill most species instantly, so the crew is just like, ‘welp, guess we’ll die then’. But then.
BUT THEN
They ask the human. Because everyone’s heard the stories - you’re basically unkillable, right? Could you survive long enough in there to fix it? And their human goes real quiet for a second, but still says ‘Yeah, I could fix it’. And the rest of the crew is like, ‘Whaaaaaa, it won’t kill you?’ and the human repeats “I can fix it” (which isn’t an answer, but no one catches that, not yet at least), so they send ‘em in. And the human fixes it, they come back, the ship flies to safety, and the crew is thrilled to survive. If the human is a little quiet, well, they’re entitled after pulling off a miracle. Everyone else is just excited to get to the nearest station’s bar to tell their very own human story, cuz, ‘those crazy humans, amiright?’.
The good mood keeps up until the human is late for their next shift. At first it’s just faint unease, but- but they earned a bit of a lie-in, right? No reason to begrudge them some extra rest, even if it is a little weird for them to oversleep. They’ll be fine. Humans are always fine.
(Right?)
(…Wrong.)
- What is… help. Help!-
- ake up! You have t-
- been days. You need sleep, you-
- nother transfusion. We could-
- out of sedatives!-
A week later, the crew finally reaches the station. They stumble into the bar, haggard and haunted. And over the next months and years a new rumor about humans starts to make its way through space. A rumor unlike any before.
‘Be careful with your humans’ it whispers. ‘Their strength is not always a blessing. Be sure they don’t do something they can’t come back from, because when a human dies… they die slowly.’

Growing up near a beach frequented by the elderly makes one more accepting of human bodies in general, I think. And it is gauche to criticize people for things they cannot control about their appearance.
However. Sometimes people do silly things to themselves. Take for example the man I saw at the beach the other day, who was obviously naturally hirsute (ok) and had removed a lot of his body hair (fair) but had done so in such a way that he ended up with a *perfectly* rectangular bathroom-rug-shaped patch of fur on his torso.
