The one piece of Hetalia canon that I just can't understand because it makes so little sense is Grandpa Rome having canonically never slept with a man in his life ... I mean, it was so common and socially accepted in Ancient Rome?? I understand if he never bottomed (because Roman bisexuality was very mixed with misogyny and homophobia and bottoming was considered degrading for a Roman citizen), but I find it hard to believe he never topped either 😶

This is not to shame anyone perception of things but I find that my Rome being much more feminine makes him a lot more interesting to me personally.

I know many would find it a contradiction because well Rome had a great deal of toxic masculinity but to me this divide between the thing he represent and who he is as a person fascinates me to death

Ok SO @dirmalkin showed me a picture of this “ancient D20″ and we got to talking about the Hetalia Ancients playing Dungeons and Dragons, what they would choose, how they’d play, etc. Then as I was drawing it the AU morphed into a late80′s/early90s high school d&d club AU, TWO AUS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!

Kemet is the oldest and most experienced and spends all her time picking away at the stats of her Bard (/Priestess) character in order to craft the most perfect, most powerful Bard in the history of the game. Hellas plays a Paladin dedicated to Athena and originally only joined the club to get the attention of Germania, the DM. (so far it has not worked.) Germania’s not terribly wordy but he makes up the best monsters and deals best with the club’s bickering. Rome is a football player, on-and-off boyfriend of Hellas depending on the week and her mood, and joined for something to do after a sports-related injury. He put the absolute minimum thought into his Barbarian character.

Ha ha ha this was a little too much fun, I missed drawing these dummies. They don’t make a very balanced party, though, do they? They should get Etruria and that China kid to join up.
