Redraws from Danny Phantom Season 1 Episode 9: My Brother's Keeper
This was my favorite episode for the longest time!!! (It's still my second favorite)
But there's are all older art I made while I was hyperfixated on Danny Phantom for the first time earlier this semester
But they were still cute so I thought I'd post them!!
I particularly like the drawings I made from the intro (especially especially the first one)
Redraws are my favoritest kind of art to make lol

"I mean... Yeah, I guess you can look at it that way but my parents research was very scientifically-based. They may not have been the greatest at practicing lab safety but, uh..."
He grimaces. "Well, our town was already a, uh, thin spot. But, yeah, everyone kinda thought my parents were a bunch of quacks and that they couldn't actually, y'know... Do it? Uhm,"
He scratches his cheek. "The Ancient of Time— who's like the guy that makes sure nothing goes out of wack— did say that it was a... Preordained thing for them to do, though, so. Not taboo when they do it."
"Uh--" The kid looks a little unsure. Mostly about whether or not he should, like, explain. Or even how he could explain ectobiology to someone that's clearly from, like, some sort of high-fantasy dungeons and dragons-esque world.
Tumblr media
"It's like... super complicated. But, basically, a rift between the world of the living and the world of the dead opened... on top of me? So." He gestures vaguely to himself. "It's more liiiike just flipping a coin between Living Human Boy and uhhhh Spectral Entity?" He pauses a beat, then decides to clarify, for emphasis: "Science was used to create the rift, not magic, by the way."

Huh. So there is weird stuff going on in this part of the woods. Figures. Unless what he's seeing is, like, Ember's younger sister...? No, probably not, if the snippets of conversation he just caught were anything to go by.
He was just going to keep walking, but something stops him. So he was a little curious about what was going on here, sue him!
"Uh, hey Ember. And... Ember?" Danny greets with a lame little wave, blinking owlishly at the scene in front of him. Hm. How to lighten the mood? "Oh, hey. We match." Is what he settles on, combined with some cheeky finger guns. Wearing an oversized hoodie with jeans was a classic, mostly practical, and comfortable look.
@ghostbxsted | WinterFes Starter
The Forest of Airaisal was far from what one would think of as a "party scene." A quiet wood in one of Spirale's less high-tech branches, more a fantasy world than anything- far from the kind of place that attracted the hip, anarchic types like Ember. However, she had heard of a certain attraction within the forest, present only for a short time...and so, she had spent some time within this private glen, the ethereal blue glow of her flaming hair flickering across the clearing. There was a conversation to be had- one she wished she could've been on the other end of a long time ago...
"...just wish I had my real axe to show off. Not a metalhead alive that can shred like me." "Yeah, but like...that toy's weirdly pretty dope! I didn't think I'd be caught dead playing something like that outside of when I just started learning, but if you're supposed to be me, then..." "Only cause I don't have the real deal on me. The jerks running this town jacked my gear when i first showed up! I'd burn the place down to get it all back." "Whoa. I mean, I get it, but...kinda harsh, huh? Like, your whole pop-punk goth aesthetic is sick, and I guess I'll get more into that later, but it's pretty wildly different from what Ricky and the others do."
A tense silence hung thickly in the air.
"...You good? You look like you're about to flip your lid. What is it?" "No, it's...it's nothing."
Ember turned to pace away from the other girl she was speaking to...only for her eyes to draw up and go wide, her body freezing before dropping into a disgruntled posture. "Of all the stupid..."
The girl she'd been speaking to stepped out from behind her, looking to the boy who now stood nearby. Her messy brown hair hung loose around her shoulders, and she wore a purple hoodie a bit too big for her and some jeans. Though the skin was significantly healthier, her eyes less piercing green, the facial structure was quite familiar, as the height would be too were it not for the adjacent rockstar's platform boots. Speaking of Ember, this strikingly similar girl looked from Danny back to her. "You know this kid...?"

Man. It's actually kinda fun leaning completely into the whole weirdness of being half-ghost, without having to worry about what his parents or classmates would think. It definitely helps that he's not the weirdest thing around here!
"Cool," he says casually, going ahead and sitting down. "Cuz, like, you were staring really badly at me. I figured I'd come over and, like, ask. What's that about?"
OH shit, she's been noticed! Hanabi really did try to be as discreet as possible, but it's hard when you're not sure if who you're looking at is alive or dead.
The ghost boy disappears and then reappears in her proximity and she isn't startled by the slightest. JUST even more embarrassed by how rude she was being.
"I am SO sorry. Gah! This seat is ABSOLUTELY not taken! Here!" Oh, this strange woman must be the absolute weirdest in his eyes.

✲ "Dying... on command? Like some sort of necromancy?" Marcille really couldn't judge though. She dabbled in dark magic like that herself. How could something like that be a power other than magic, though? Did he have more information on how it worked?
Tumblr media
"So what do you use then? Obviously there some kind of power fueling... that. It must use up energy of some kind, right?" If not mana then something had to be burned to wield powers of that nature.

Oh, this is awkward. He didn't even mean to say it out loud this time. Well, it's a good thing no one was really around the floating islands this time of day... (except, apparently, this lady and the few people that decided to live up here).
Tumblr media
"Uh... I wouldn't say it's magic... more like just psyching myself up for dying on command?" He pauses, floating backwards a bit. "But, like, I know of magic? I don't think I use any of that stuff personally, though."
@ghostbxsted
✲ "Hey so... You just shouted "I'm going ghost!" and then your hair and clothes changed?" She felt like she'd just seen something she should have. Is that what you referred to as a "magical girl transformation"? It was something worth researching later but that wasn't really the point.
Tumblr media
"Was that magic? I've never seen a magic that so easily changes your appearance before." Ghost... magic?

That girl across the mall cafeteria has been staring at him for the past, like, half hour. At first he wasn't sure but the way she kept hurriedly looking away every time he bothered glancing over was pretty telling. And weird.
After eventually deciding he's had enough of that, he gets up, picking up his tray of food, and—
Vanishes from sight. By sinking straight through the ground.
He returns to tangibility once he's close to her table. He remains invisible until after he sets his tray down from across from her. "So... This seat taken? I mean, you kept looking at me funny, I wasn't sure if you were trying to call me over or not..."

Yeah, Danny absolutely did not notice Anda shouting at him from the road down below. . . . "Yep. Okay. Sure. This might as well happen." This would not be the first time that a terrifyingly angry ghost immediately went for his throat. It certainly won't be the last. He sighs, and braces himself--
Tumblr media
Psyche. He's Phantom, right now, and he's already done this same song and dance enough times to know he only gets hit if he let's it happen. When the ghost gets just within reach, the boy's form seems to abruptly distort, shimmering and transparent like a mirage as he lets them fly straight through him. The space where he's supposed to be is so terribly, awfully cold.
He remains incorporeal, spinning around to follow their movements. Hands held above his head as if that would do anything to placate them. "Hey now, I know I didn't knock, really sorry about that! But we don't gotta fight. I know I'm not the only spook trespassin' around here -- I'm actually here to kick all the others out for you! I'm the only one who can get rid of these guys, so... let's do this the easy way? Pretty please with cherries on top?"
This ghost doesn't look like the type capable of reason, but hey. He's been surprised before. Looks can be so deceiving. Maybe they'll prove him wrong.
.
.
.
He does hear the sound of an approaching van now, though. It splits his attention, but his intangibility doesn't drop. It's a natural reflex at this point. Especially while he's fully Phantom. He's so blessing the Stars right now for giving him all his powers back. Even though it's only temporarily.
Clearly, Danny didn't hear Anda shouting from below, flooring the van on the dirt road to the mistwood. It's a place they've avoided this entire time, but they can feel every victim the ghost toys with and claims. It's a horrid feeling in the pit of their stomach.
. . .
But an intruder was an intruder. And intruders, there were many. Living or dead did not matter to the Thing that haunts the estate. And unfortunately for Danny, something is crawling on the ceiling, long blood-soaked hair dangling downward in search to rid the estate of these unwanted visitors.
Golden eyes lock onto the boy, and its face twists in rage. Its jaw begins to deform, breaking and cracking into shapes not meant for a human.
And it screams at him, lunging from its perch, claws and teeth at the ready to shred him to pieces.

Danny really, really hoped this whole fiasco would be ending soon. He can only be at so many places at once without getting a (literally) splitting headache — and living beings really, really did not belong in the Ghost Zone.
It's at least easy enough to differentiate between the locals and foreign visitors. Such as spotting the floating form of someone lost in the depths of the floating sea. Emotions were palpable, here. He could taste it in the air — confusion tinged with the fear of being somewhere unfamiliar. He's seen her around in passing before, he thinks.
He doesn't know her name, though. That's fine. True names are dangerous to share in this place, anyways. He won't ask it.
"HEY!" He shouts out, flying over to her with the ease of someone used to the bizarre physics of the Realms. "You okay? Where'd you get in here from? I just closed one of the doorways—" So long as she doesn't look too closely, Phantom looked human enough. "You haven't run into anyone... else here, have you? It's not exactly a friendly place."

Of course there had to be portals to the Infinite Realms opening up here. Was America's Most Haunted Town, hot-spot of supernatural activity in the Midwest, not enough? The GZ just had to expand its influence into whatever this place is?
At least the portals weren't just a one way trip. He can work with this. Is familiar with this sort of song and dance, actually, even though he was hoping he really wouldn't have to participate in it again. He wishes he could just find a hole to hide in; that he could let this storm blow over. He technically wasn't the only one capable of dealing with crazy shit like this...
...But these ghosts were coming from the Zone. They were his brand of crazy. He was the only one who knew how to deal with them best. The only one who knew that not all of them actually meant any harm.
Tumblr media
There was a part of him that wondered if he could just... stay home, as he swept through his parents' lab to swipe some ghost hunting gear. There was the fact he had to evade blaster shots from his own home's security system, though. Right. He almost forgot that he wasn't even safe in his own home anymore. At least he got what he needed. Mostly several thermos; since each could only carry so many ghosts, and goodness gracious there were so many running amuck Isola right now--
It really doesn't help that he had to chase ghosts through other worlds now, though. His current game of frustrating chase leads him through another portal into — some sort of mansion. He hates mansions. Nothing good ever comes from them.
There's always something terrible in the basement.
A harsh shiver runs through his spine as he crosses the threshold between worlds, flying straight through a door unimpeded in his search. This was another ghost's haunt. Lovely. Now he's probably going to have to do some damage control between one type of undead versus another. Why was this his lot in life?
"Helloo-oo?" He calls out, neon-green eyes narrowed in concentration as he reaches out with his senses for the ghost he's tailing. "Youngblood, I really don't think this is the place to play around. Please just get inside the thermos so I can send you back into the 'Zone..." He floats around in hesitant circles as he investigates the foyer. "C'mon, I agreed to a game of tag — not hide an' seek!"

After School Ghost Theory 101 with Professor Fenton
Switch to light mode or Classic Blue to get the full transparency effect!
[Image ID: A four page comic that starts with Danny Fenton standing in front of a whiteboard holding up a white cat. “Question: Do ghosts purr?”
Tucker: “Danny when was the last time you slept?” Danny: “Irrelevant.”
Danny info-dumps: “The answer is yes, but also no. Technically, all beings that possess a core are constantly "purring”, a.k.a. Core Vibrations. Core Vibrations are a nonverbal, emotion-based communication system between Ghosts, similar to how some living species use pheromones to communicate. The exact tone of each ghost is different the same way people’s voices are different. Humans can only hear these vibrations when the frequency passes through their audible range (20Hz - 20KHz), hence the ‘purring’ sound. When the range dips into infrasound (16 - 20Hz) it can cause feelings of fear and unease in humans that they often associate with ghosts and the supernatural. Also known as the ‘Heebie Jeebies.’”
Danny, wiping off the whiteboard: “Any questions before we move on?“
Danny’s audience consists of Wes Weston, Tucker Foley, Sam Manson, Danny’s clone Ellie, and Dash Baxter in a classroom. Wes is seated at a desk at the front taking notes. Tucker is sitting on Sam’s lap playing on a Switch, Ellie is sitting on a desk behind them. Dash is asleep at the back of the room.
Ellie, now holding the cat: “Is this Vlad’s first cat!?” Wes: "Could you tone down the floating eyes before the next part? They’re kinda distracting.” Danny: “What eyes?” Wes: “Please stop gaslighting me.”
A transparency trick on the last page reveals dark shadows and eyes all around Danny when viewed in dark mode. /.End ID]
An Extended Image ID is available under the read more because it’s over 1k. Side by side light and dark mode versions of the transparency trick is also available under the cut.
