of course!! one art tip i don’t see discussed nearly enough is the importance of coloring your fucking lines. i just found out what a difference colored linework can make to artwork a few months ago, and holy moly???
below is a deadpool piece i finished about a year ago. the linework is a pure-black multiply layer over the colors. i have all my luminosity and shading layers underneath the black lineart, and this is how it looks:
which is pretty decent!! but here is what it looks like once i revamped the lines today:
what i did was use the “luminence to transparency” tool on Paint Tool SAI for the lines instead of using the multiply function. then, i added a clipping group above those lines to color them. i moved my linework into a set with my flat colors and then add all the lum/shade layers as clipping groups on top of that set.
here’s what my layers look like! but yeah– coloring your lines is a quick way to drastically improve the quality of your digital art.
