DISNEY MAGIC KINGDOMS: Honeymaren and ElsaMaren

“Disney Magic Kingdoms”“ is a mobile game. This is a compilation of missions involving Elsa and Honeymaren. It might be weird, but this remains the only place that really developed Honeymaren and Ryder’s personalities (Yelana doesn’t appear, but at least she’s mentioned).

There is a theory about the absence of the Northuldra tribe after “Frozen 2” in books and comics saying that Disney needs the authorization of the Sami tribe… but it is interesting if this theory is real how a mobile game received this authorization and other products not. Anyway, theories.

In “Polar Nights” it is said that the Northuldras took their reindeer on a migration two months after the events of “Frozen 2” and so they don’t appear in the book, but as Elsa says she had moments with the tribe and many of the quests from “Disney Magic Kingdoms” can be considered part of those moments.

1 - Intrepid Bonding

RYDER: Honeymaren and I were born in the Enchanted Woods. It’s our home, but we were never able to leave. It’s gonna be so cool to see the rest of the world with my sister, but I’m not sure she’s as excited as I am…

Ryder and Honeymaren go exploring!

RYDER: Well? What do you think? Isn’t it amazing? I know it’s no forest, but…

HONEYMAREN: Haha – It is amazing! But Ryder, I never thought it wouldn’t be. I love our home and I want to protect it, but that doesn’t mean I’m not THRILLED to be free!

RYDER: Huh. Hey, I guess we feel exactly the same way!

2 - Whole New Herd!

RYDER: I used to think I’d NEVER get out of the forest – that I’d never see the big wide world around me! Like, think of all the new reindeer I’ll meet! Heh, just kidding. Well, not only that… To get to ride in a wide open plain, no trees or bogs or boulders in my way… Now that’s a dream! Ah, I wanna go find one!

Ryder will explore!

RYDER: Yesss! Look at all this… boundless expanse! There’s so much to discover! Maybe later Kristoff and I can go for a ride! I wonder what adventures we could go on.

3 - Starting Small

HONEYMAREN: Ryder’s so happy that we can leave the woods, but… I don’t entirely trust this place just yet. Can you blame me? We had to deal with Earth Giants all the time. Who KNOWS what kind of giants exist outside the woods. Giants made of… wood? Water? Pie? I don’t know!

Honeymaren will explore the kingdom.

HONEYMAREN: I guess there’s… no danger, here? Anywhere? What an amazing feeling… I can’t remember the last time I let my guard down! How wonderful…

- Missions 1, 2 and 3 seem to be a complement to the Nattura brothers’ ending in "Frozen 2”. It’s interesting the contrast where Ryder is very excited for the new world while Honeymaren, probably because of her warrior instincts, is more hesitant. In fact Honeymaren’s debut mission is called “Welcome a Free Spirit” -

4 - Gift for a Gal Pal

HONEYMAREN: It’s been so exciting to meet someone like Elsa… I’ve never met anyone who possesses magic! I’d love to show her all the beauty of the woods – all the sights, smells, and tastes… I know – I’ll gather her a basket of forest-y delights. Like, a little welcome gift! This’ll be fun…!

Honeymaren will collect treats in the forest.

HONEYMAREN: Mmm – oh, that smells so nice! I can’t wait to show Elsa… And then – who knows? – maybe she’ll make me an Arendelle basket out of ice!

- Wouldn’t it be much simpler to just call the quest “Gift for a New Friend”? Disney chose a term that has become quite curious in recent years. Just Gals Being Pals -

5 - Barking Up the Wrong Tree

RYDER: Elsa’s never been to these woods before. I wonder if she’d let me show her around? I could show her the lichen meadows or the reindeer stomping grounds… Uh, where is she, anyway? I’ll go find her and then we can get this show on the road!

Ryder goes to look for Elsa.

RYDER: Seriously, how could I lose track of a magical ice-making queen?! Huh – look, it’s a note from my sister Honeymaren… “Gone exploring with Elsa. Be back later.” Noooooooo!

- I can’t believe the title of this mission was chosen innocently, even more so when it reminded me that Kristen Bell in an interview put Ryder as one of the romance options in the Enchanted Forest if Elsa wants to date someone. This mission seems to be the answer to that interview -

6 - A Beautiful Sound

HONEYMAREN: What’s that sound? … It’s so lovely, but I hope I’m not starting to hear a voice calling to ME! It’s definitely singing… Elsa, is that you?

ELSA: Since the voice is calling out to me, I thought maybe I might get some answers if I called back to it! Maybe you can help by trying the Kulning with me! If you don’t mind…

HONEYMAREN: No, not at all! I’d love that, actually…

7 - Fiery Friend

BRUNI: Skrrr… *squeak!*

ANNA: Whoa! You’re, uh, REALLY fast for having such small legs. Are salamanders generally this fast? I think you understand me. Or… maybe I’m just losing my mind. That checks out, too. Maybe we could– Wait! Where’re you going?

Bruni goes to look for Elsa.

BRUNI: Skreek…?

ANNA: Were you looking for her? She’s probably hanging out with Honeymaren, or, I dunno, getting into mortal danger… *sigh*… That came out wrong. I know Elsa’s figuring out all this stuff about herself, and that’s really good… I just wish she’d include ME a little more. Maybe that’s selfish… Uh. Why are you looking at me like that? Do you… want to be friends, maybe? Or do you just have something in your eye?

BRUNI: Skrak!

ANNA: Mrr…

- When Anna asks about Elsa’s activities in the Enchanted Forest in “Polar Nights” she just says: “I’ve been learning so much from the spirits, Honeymaren, Ryder, and all the Northuldra about the ways of the forest.” I think Anna learned a few more things about her sister’s activities in the forest -

8 - Stronger Together

HONEYMAREN: Anna! I don’t have any answers for you yet, but I CAN tell you that there is a lot of activity in the forest around the river.

ANNA: That sounds… uh… does that sound promising? It sounds like SOMETHING, at least. I’ll come with you!

ANNA: So… What did you and Elsa talk about? Did she mention how she LEFT ME WITHOUT A WORD…?!

HONEYMAREN: Oh… I’m sorry, Anna. We just talked about her powers, and about the woods. I wish I had more answers!

- “She knew her magic wasn’t limiteless - no magic was, according to the Northuldra.” That phrase in “Polar Nights” doesn’t make it clear who talked to Elsa, but from this mission it looks like it was Honeymaren -

9 - Gusts & Guesses

ELSA: I try to visit Arendelle often – to see everyone, especially Anna. The Water Nokk makes it easy to go back and forth… But on this visit… well, I arrived just a day ago, and Gale has been very playful ever since. We’ve danced quite a bit. I wonder what else it could be trying to tell me…

ELSA: Hmm… No paper note, this time… that’s usually how Honeymaren contacts me when I’m not in the Enchanted Forest. I hope it isn’t something serious… Well, I’ll just say goodbye to everyone and go see what Honeymaren needs.

10 - Come Back Soon!

ELSA: I’m sorry to cut our visit short, Anna, but I have to return to the Enchanted Forest. Honeymaren needs me–

ANNA: Uh-uh-uh – no apologies. I love it when you visit, but this sounds really important! Ooh… I’m gonna have to tell the Royal Dressmaker to come back another day, though. Trying on new clothes can definitely wait!

ELSA: Oh, Anna… Thank you so much for understanding! But you know, we might not need a dressmaker after all…

ANNA: Oooh… Snowy skirt sparkles! I don’t know if “magical dressmaking” is a thing, Elsa – but if it is, you are GREAT at it. Next time you’re here, let’s make something special for Gerda! Ooh – and we’re on for board game night, right?

ELSA: Of course! If you still want Kristoff to teach us how to play tablut…

ANNA: Absolutely! I just hope I’m better at it than I am at checkers.

ELSA: Hmm… Something tells me Kristoff might just let you win.

9 - Trouble in the North?

RYDER:… How serious is this, really? If we’re one person down, we can still–

HONEYMAREN: It’s serious, Ryder! Yelana’s the one who anchors us; since she’s sick, we need someone who can take her place.

RYDER: All right… If you say so. I’ll keep an eye out – but no promises, okay?

Honeymaren and Ryder goes to look for a substitute.

ELSA: Honeymaren! I came as soon as Gale told me, I–

HONEYMAREN: Elsa?! I didn’t tell Gale to ask you to come back to– well, actually, since you’re here… You sing, right?

ELSA: Yes, I’ve always loved to sing.

HONEYMAREN: Fantastic! We’re trying out a new chant today, and Yelana has a sore throat, so, do you think you could cover her part?

ELSA: Of course. I’d be happy to. I must say I’m relieved. Gale had me worried that something was seriously wrong.

HONEYMAREN: That’s probably my fault. Sorry! But I am glad you came. I think you’ll really enjoy the singing.

- Yelana was only mentioned in “Disney Magic Kingdoms” that it was something that didn’t even happen in “Polar Nights" -

11 - Recipe for Success

RYDER: … And this large man in a sweater has a portable sauna AND some kind of downhill-sled-cart thing! Plus Mattias found his dad’s sourdough flatbread recipe and is doing a tasting later. How are you NOT excited about all this?

HONEYMAREN: I am, Ryder. Don’t worry. It’s just that Elsa asked me to help with the dessert stall, and…

RYDER: … And you don’t wanna let her down. Gotcha. Hey, why don’t I help? If we work together, we’ll sell twice as much.

Honeymaren and Ryder sell desserts.

HONEYMAREN: I think that’s actually the last of them, somehow! … Phew. How did you do?

RYDER: Great! I actually started serving the mountain-sorrel pudding and the cloudberry jam together. It was really popular!

HONEYMAREN: Seriously? That’s like… tart on tart, Ryder. I’m surprised anyone enjoyed it!

RYDER: Yeah, all except one guy. He was so busy asking me if this place had any "out-of-the-way storehouses,” he didn’t even eat it! I mean… he WAS selling some really good cookies, but still, he was really pushy.

- This quest is part of the “Return of Hans” arc. It’s really cute to see Honeymaren wanting to satisfy Elsa and Ryder by helping her -

BONUS MISSION KRISTANNA

12 - Mark That Calendar!

ANNA: Hey there, Mr. Official Arendelle Ice Master and Deliverer! Do you know what today is?

KRISTOFF: What…? Oh, no… another state dinner? I should’ve been getting dressed hours ago, shouldn’t I… Okay: In my defense, I–

ANNA: No, silly! It’s the three-month anniversary of your first ice delivery with your new sled! And WE are going to celebrate!

KRISTOFF: Oh! Phew… Wait, you were keeping track of that?

Anna and Kristoff enjoy the anniversary.

KRISTOFF: That was… uh… that was nice. A walk, great views, the chance to talk to you… and hey, the weather even cleared up a bit! Thanks, Anna. This was the best anniversary that I didn’t know was an anniversary that I’ve ever had.

ANNA: Oh, well you better get ready, because next Tuesday is the six-week anniversary of our chocolate-torte-eating contest… And we can’t forget the ten-day anniversary of when I drove your sled all the way to Troll Valley without falling off? Because that’s this coming weekend… Actually, do you want to take notes?

- In “Polar Nights” it is shown that Anna and Kristoff celebrate the first time they ate chocolate as a couple, the “choco-versary”, in this mission there are some more similar celebrations -
