i think one of the obstacles to me accepting my homosexuality was the fact that bisexuality / pansexuality is often presented as being the most "open minded" way of being... like "love is love, man, the parts don't matter, the names don't matter." "hearts not parts." and in one sense, well, no, it's not exactly the parts, but the parts are a component, as well as the overall body, spirit, smell, vibe, sweat, walk, way of being... and for whatever reason, i only experience desire with women. finding people attractive or fun to be around, sure, that can apply to anyone. but it's like... for so long, i kept trying to fit into this long wide box when i was actually always drawn to, and ultimately more comfortable, in a little square box. like i would love to be "open minded" and feel desire for absolutely everyone; free love, baby. but that's not how i'm wired. and the moment when i gave up trying to be the "open minded bisexual" and just let myself be a dyke it's like this layer of shame and repression was peeled off of me. like i had a plaster mask that shattered.

there's this stupid phrase i think of sometimes "i don't go to where you work and slap the hot dog out of your hands" which is very evocative like i picture heading down to the hot dog on a stick at the local mall and the person you're talking to is working their secret side job they didn't want anyone to know about wearing the striped uniform... and you walk up to them and just smack the hot dog out of their hands... how humiliating, how confusing... then later i learned it was a PG version of the joke "i don't go to where you work and slap the dick out of your mouth" which is honestly less funny, just crass, so it might make you laugh out of surprise. but you know what. even if i hear that version, my brain pictures a blowjob being interrupted, then you nod in quiet understanding and go back to your job at the hot dog on the stick. the hot dog on a stick is no place for blowjobs. get back to dipping the hot dogs

thank you for the suggestion. i already spent a lot of time on this spreadsheet so i won't do any more work on it. you are welcome to copy it and make your own column for sizes that go down. re: measurements, the measurements vary VASTLY between brands and the exact style of clothes, which i note on the spreadsheet, so it's better to check out the websites of the styles you like the most and check the measurements from there. making a spreadsheet that included measurements would involve a 3D graph of some kind.
also keep in mind it's usually easy to tailor clothes to fit smaller. you can always trim and sew down, but it's hard to do it the other way around. people who wear plus-size clothing struggle to find clothes that fit, let alone slow fashion, and this is the main purpose of this spreadsheet.
one of my "special interests" in the past couple of years has been exploring fast fashion vs. slow fashion. it has been a long journey trying to find clothes that actually 1) fit me 2) look good 3) are made from material that is not actively shoving plastic in the ecosystem 4) involve ethical labor, fair trade, fairly compensated, etc
before i did this research, i really had no clue about fabrics or fashion brands. i used to think i had zero interest in fashion, in fact.
i grew up wearing walmart and thrift store clothes, and when i went to college i bought clothes from target and asos. something started to shift a little bit when i found vintage resellers on etsy and ebay... those clothes were so unique. but a lot of the vintage clothes were polyester blends, stiff, and would fall apart as easily as my asos clothes. i would leave them hanging in my closet and never wear them. i would wear the same old t shirts and jeggings every day. i felt like it was impossible to ever wear comfortable clothes, or ever feel good in clothes, so why bother?
it started with linen. linen is very comfortable and pretty sustainable. i was amazed that i didn't feel the urge to rip my clothes off when i wore linen. lightbulb number one.
a friend let me borrow a nooworks dress, and i went to the store and got some overalls. wow. overalls. lightbulb number two. holy shit, you can wear overalls. you know how people say "not binary or non-binary but a secret third thing." that's overalls.
i realized i loved the bonkers prints that nooworks had, and all of it was soft, and made ethically. it was a higher price point than i was used to, which gave me pause. but then you realize: we're not supposed to be buying dumb clothes every other weekend. and isn't a slightly higher price point for soft clothes that you won't want to tear off your body worth it?
so i started my research. i made a spreadsheet. the prices can be all over the place across brands, so i made a column for prices. sizes can be all over the place too -- people always ask me "where is the plus size slow fashion?" it's there. just look at the size column. people say "isn't it better to buy secondhand?" yeah, it is. i have many links to secondhand sources.
if you have any suggestions or additions please let me know, it is a living document.

The flip side of the post-World War II cries of “Never again” was an unspoken “Never before.” The insistence on lifting the Holocaust out of history, the failure to recognize these patterns, and the refusal to see where the Nazis fit inside the arc of colonial genocides have all come at a high cost. The countries that defeated Hitler did not have to confront the uncomfortable fact that Hitler had taken pointers and inspiration on race-making and on human containment from them, leaving their innocence not only undisturbed but also significantly strengthened by what was indeed a righteous victory.

it is so incredibly sad to constantly see kids on instagram and tiktok who are younger than my brother have to literally beg for shelter, food, water, medicine, and their right to exist as human beings
i mean, this young girl is only ten years old, yet she is essentially responsible for convincing random people scrolling through instagram that her and her family’s life are worth fighting for
on top of that, their gofundme is not even 10% funded and time is running out, please if you can’t donate, just share
please don’t let this little girl die begging
