Aftermath

    Greenlee had returned home during the break after exams, not even quite sure how she would get back. She assumed another professor or the like would assist in arranging that matter when they time had come. Hogwarts staff had a tendency to only let her know when they felt like it for most things. 

     It was adjustment returning home, unable to use anything she had learned. It was even worse having to pretend the year had went without incident to her parents whilst simultaneously finding to a way to explain that Professor Fig has passed without alarming them. Once they heard, they didn’t even want her to go back because he was the person that they had entrusted their daughter with and now he wasn’t there to watch over her for them like he had promised. It took some time, but Greenlee somehow managed to diffuse their concerns over it. They absolutely wouldn’t have allowed her return if they knew the real reason.

   This left Greenlee to shoulder her burdens alone, to sit with her grief in silence. As much as she was counting the days to go back, she wasn’t even quite sure if she was prepared to when the time came. She felt lost without Professor Fig. He had been her introduction to that world--- the person she relied on to answer her questions and to help her navigate herself in an entirely different world. She had lost him, and with that she had lost her most treasured bond. 

   It made her feel unsteady. She felt wholly unprepared to guide herself as she navigated the upcoming school year, much less this talent she possessed that most did not know of nor understand. She had her friends, but she didn’t want to rely on them to assist her as she continued to learn about the world and her own abilities. She knew the professors would help in the ways that they could, but it would never be like having Professor Fig for her. 

   It didn’t help that the situation regarding Sebastian, Anne, and Ominis still weighed heavily on her mind. And why wouldn’t it? She was involved in helping Sebastian in his pursuits. She was complicit in his less than ideal methods. She was in part guilty for how it all ended. She felt that guilt on her shoulders too. It didn’t matter that Sebastian would have pursued it all whether she was there or not, she still wished she would have done something--- anything to prevent it from getting so out of hand--- especially with how things were when she had left. How was Anne fairing? Had the three reconciled somehow? She would like to think they had, but it was hard to even fathom how they could. It was all so different for them. 

   It wasn’t something that she would attempt to learn about when she returned. She already felt like she had intruded in so many ways, like she had been pulled into something she shouldn’t have been involved in. It was best to leave the three be. She wasn’t even quite sure if she would reach out to Sebastian or Omnis when she got back, at least not first. It didn’t feel her place. At least she had Natty and Poppy to look forward to seeing. She would hold on to that for now.

His comment came a bit out of no where with him muttering it low enough that Professor Binns wouldn't hear him. Not that they necessarily mattered, it's not like Professor Binns noticed much off anything that the students did when he droned on about seemingly inconsequential history subjects given most felt quiet comfortable dozing off in his class.

"Oh, do you not find this lecture riveting? I thought everyone found Binns to be a quite the masterful storyteller," she jests in a similarly low tone as she looks his way with amusement upon her features. "---Well, cheer up, we've only got about fifteen minutes til class is over and you can run off to find said adventure."

She can't help the laugh that escapes her as she watches Sebastian walk off after leaving Ominis to ruminate on another one of his ridiculous statements. He's not wrong, per se, but someone attempting to do such a thing to Sebastian seems ill advised.

Tidbits about Greenlee

She likes to wear gloves, preferably fingerless, because it covers a lot of scars here and there that's she acquired over the years during escapades that are on her hands and it saves her from the usual commentary on the state of them. This doesn't just go for her hands, however, as she has scars here, there, and every where because her curiosity triumphed over caution. Most she does her best to keep unseen though there's nothing that she can do about the prominent one on her eye. The state of her body is Ironic given she is someone that is keen on warning her friends about doing risky things.

Her insatiable curiosity and what it has led her to do in the muggle world is one of the reasons her parents did not want to send her off to Hogwarts to pursue a world that they had no idea about it. At least with her home, they could reign her in somewhat, but if she was left to her own devices they weren't sure what she would get up to. She had already managed to mar her face with that scar on her eye only a few years prior to her eleventh year during one of her pursuits--- what damage could she possibly incur with magic in tow? It was more than an unnerving prospect. Giving the events that would eventually transpiring, they were right to be concerned.

Another reason they worried about it was what may happen to her as well as their family if those within the muggle world suspected them of partaking in what would be considered dark practices. People were not open to the unusual and certainly not open to anything that strayed into what they deemed immoral. If they thought the Buchanan family was partaking in less than ideal practices, it would certainly put them in a predicament. Given Greenlee already had a penchant to for garnering attention from her quest of curiosity, her parents feared that it would be all too easy for her to slip up.

The only reason Professor Fig was able to convince her parents to let her go was due to the fact that Greenlee had made a point of greatly toning herself down after the first refusal from her parents to send her to the wizarding school. The few years prior to her finally being granted permission, Greenlee had worked relentlessly to adapt to a personality that was much more reserved and much less attention catching in hopes that the less concerned they felt regarding her ability to care for her own well-being and to stay in line, the more likely they would be to let her have a chance at it. If she showed maturity and a real amount risk-aversion, she hoped they would feel less anxious about the endeavor. And it did work. The more she showed a subdued version of herself, the less they fretted when the subject was brought up. Sure, it still took her until she was 15 years of age to get them to concede, but that was better than never at all

What her parents didn't know was that her carefully crafted exterior was just that-- an exterior. Greenlee knew how to put on a good show of a being a well-contained and reasonable girl. She established an air about her that alluded to being quite well-adjusted and matured for her age, but that really was all due to the strong determination and desire to get to Hogwarts whatever way possible. There was a whole world of seemingly endless discovery awaiting her there--- how was she supposed to just accept that she couldn't go? It was an impossible ask. She decided quite early on that if she had to play a part to get there, she certainly would.

Granted, one does not simply shed a role that they had played for so long and Greenlee still has a tendency to display herself in such a way to others when at Hogwarts--- though it appears as much more of a façade now given her actions and words are a dead giveaway that she is actually someone who is quite fond throwing herself into essentially any situation if it sparks her curiosity. While she does carry herself in such a way, it's really not hard for her peers to quickly realize that her true personality revolves around taking risk after risk to get where she needs to go and that her risk-aversion is quite low. The fact that she easily fell into step with Sebastian Sallow only helps solidifies that reality.

BEST EXPERIENCE:   Just getting to interact with people and see their well thought-out takes on their characters. I've only ever played canon characters of series until now (and ones that were often misrepresented by fandom) so I just appreciate getting to see the solid and well-thought out interpretations people come up with as well as they AUs that people throw out because I'm amazed at how creative they are

RP PET PEEVE:     Just anyone that doesn't really pay attention to what I've said about my muse and such so they go off what they assume, even disregarding specific things I've added in my rules. I've had that happen a number of times in other fandoms.

PLOTS OR MEMES:      I am honestly fine with either! I've found memes have given me ideas that have turned into threads or even whole AUs from time to time but I also enjoy exploring plots that others have thrown my way. I think both work well~

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES:   As long as the reply gives me something to work with, I am fine with any length. I tend to ramble a lot in my own replies so I'm totally okay with other not matching my length jsjs

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES:    I'd say all my muses have a tendency to ramble more often than not--- which is a trait I definitely share with them, but that's likely the main thing we have in common. My muses (including Greenlee) are much, much more adventurous and bold than I am.

She gives Sebastian a look at this comment, knowing that she did not say more in response. He knew what her answer would be. "I assume that means that you haven't an injury I need worry about then. I am glad, despite what you may think," she retorts, eyeing him once more just to make sure her assumption was correct. It appeared to be.

It seems that their far too frequent bouts with danger had seemed to only help him in perfecting his battle abilities. On one hand, that is a good thing, but on the other it posed the risk of only encouraging him in pursuing whatever he deemed to be worth his interest. Not that he really needed much encouragement in that department. Anything worth his interest gave him enough of that.

"I won't say anything," she assured, though not because she wanted to appease him. It's just that Greenlee would be akin to a pot calling the kettle black to subject him to a lecture for something she was just as guilty of doing--- after all, what reason could she have for being out this late? "--- The Forbidden Forest? Why would go there by yourself?" Ah, it seems she wasn't all that above being hypocritical after all. "You could have asked me to go with you, at least. You know I would have," she paused, "...Did you learn anything new, at least?"

              ˜”*°•.    Seen . To  be  seen  by  Greenlee , by  Ominis ,  by anyone  really …  he’d tried  hard  to avoid  them  .  Late  at night ,  when  everyone was  sleeping   - what  had been  the  chances of  stumbling  into  the  fifth year  ?  Her  worry  palpable as  she  grabbed him  by  the sleeve  -  cloth wet ,  painted  by blood .  The  story behind  it  one  he  wished he  wouldn’t  have needed  to  share.

❝ Well,  would you  rather  it be  my  blood ? ❞  He asked ,  eyebrow  arched in  disbelief . Of  course, he   knew  exactly what  she’d  meant -  both  Ominis and  her  sharing their  disapproval  of his  studies ,  the recklessness  more  often than  not .  However , this  time  ?  It’d  barely  been his  fault.

❝ Ominis  doesn’t have  to  find out .  He  knows he  would  simply lecture  us  both . ❞ And  to  be   entirely  honest,  this was  the  very last  that  he needed .  Another   hour long  monologue  of morality  and  carefulness  - as  if  any of  those  would help  his  sister survive .  ❝ And …  it is  nothing .  Merely something  that  occurred  in the  Forbidden  Forest . ❞

Greenlee resist the urge to bite at her lip. She knew it was a risk to ask Anne for her help, but she had hoped that asking would perhaps help in lifting her spirits. It seems that the risk she had taken had been a mistake, "..I understand." She considered apologizing for her folly, but felt that may only add insult to injury now. The Buchanan simply hoped that her intention had not been misconstrued as anything but sincere.

Her eyes looked upon the set with curiosity as she leaned forward. Quidditch. With the Headmaster having deemed the sport unsafe, Greenlee had not been given much chance to really think about even participating in it. Frankly, she hadn't been quite able to grasp the intricacies of riding a broom just yet either.

"Oh, these are quite lovely. Everyone seems to talk quite fondly--- and rather excitedly--- about Quidditch, it truly has sparked my interest because of that. Admittedly, I am not quite adept on a broom just yet so I am not sure if I would be much of a player myself," she quips with a small laugh as her hand reaches out to touch the gloves.

She is hesitant to try them on, but decides to do as to not make things awkward--- though she is sure she wants to accept them from Anne. She flexes her fingers after put the gear on, her eyes focused on the gloves, "Were you on the team? I heard it is quite the feat to land a spot on it."

“That’s kind of Professor Fig. I love how professors at Hogwarts will go out of their way to make sure we understand something,” Anne says, sighing appreciatively… nostalgically.

What did Professor Fig teach again? She actually wasn’t sure. There was a class she vaguely recalls ditching for a time, and it could’ve been his class.

At Greenlee’s question, Anne took a small moment to consider, which led to a frown. “I’d love to help you, but I don’t think I’m in the right condition to do so,” she said lightly. The new fifth year had already heard her cry in pain before, and Anne still found herself ashamed sometimes for this curse she couldn’t be rid of. The truth was, there was no promise for tomorrow. She decided she would spare Greenlee of all the plans for the future she’s already broken. @greenleebuchanan

“However, I think you’d find use of this, hopefully by the next year.” Anne stood up from the chair and walked over to her small space, pulling out a small valise from underneath, opening it. She returned with a pair of dark brown gloves and arm guards, placing them on the round table so Greenlee could see. “These are for Quidditch. I’ve heard enough to know Headmaster Black banned it this year, but I’m confident he’ll reverse his decision. How about you give them a try?”
