Griffith Mothers Day Spring 2023

Turning mother part II a grandma is significant this Mothers Day 2023. Kaylah Carrera my only daughter & only child agreed to spend the day with me. Kaylah is five months pregnant.

Kaykah had very recently moved in with her in laws along with her husband to Griffith of Indiana to save for a house and two cars.

Kaylah my daughter moved to the very town I was raised and grew up in. I lived in that town from the age of four to about eighteen. Yes GrIffith… I was a Griffith Panther... A Griffith school girl…

Yes, Griffith of Indiana…

Kaylah asked me to take her to her OB doctor during our outing for Mothers Day the Tuesday after Mothers Day and I gladly agreed. My daughter Kaylah had gotten the Covid while pregnant and needed to make sure her & the baby were ok.

Stressed financially I went to the downtown Griffith coffee cafe called Grindhouse to equilibrate why I was so financially stressed. I got a can of Diet Coke for $2. That $2 was a small tip included.

The coffee house was quaint, bigger than Starbucks, and there were nicely dressed nice looking people there.

I equilibrated & blogged.

I then went out to my car surely losing my car key under my seat. I finally found it after about 20 minutes of uncomfortable bending and moving seats back and forth. I after that drove to where the Griffith Venture turned Kmart was with a bunch of shops. The place is now a strip mall that was deserted. There is just a Dollar store open.

So gross…

The strip mall was sadly just a bunch of empty shops with an empty movie theater. They were was just spying there. I guess I was not going to be seeing the summer 2023 Tom Cruise Mission Impossible or Top Gun at this dilapidated run down scary dump.

It looked dangerous…

I went inside the dollar store and looked at the store that use to be a Franks. I looked for a bottle opener to open my beer to make beer bread. I do not drink beer. I turn it to bread. The beer is not intoxicating that way.

The Griffith dollar store had a fancy bottle opener but it was $5. It was not what I was looking for.

I after that drove down the street to the Griffith of Indiana Stracks grocery store. There I found a package of two ‘old school’ bottle openers for only $1.99 for the two of them plus tax.

They were perfect.

After getting aquainted with the new Griffith I went to my daughter’s in laws to pick her up for the OB. It was time for our outing at a Griffith restaurant Bridges.

I was very early.

I waited and chatted online in my car for about a half hour waiting for Kaylah to get ready. I sat in my car in the beautiful quiet neighborhood with small houses of various neat landscapes and make.

When Kaylah came out in a tshirt and shorts so cute she got in the car and guided me to her OB doctor office in Crown Point of Indiana near St Anthony’s hospital.

We were about an hour early for the doctor appointment. Astonishingly they took us in right away. The OB doctor said Kaylah was going to be fine.

Kaylah was miserable.

Kaylah was getting better though. Kaylah and the baby were ok and got through the corona virus with an order for some cough syrup and a bunch of different variety of vitamins.

Kaylah and I talked in the car as Kaylah guided me to Bridges in Griffith after the OB appointment. When we got there I parked my car and we got to choose our table.

We sat at a booth.

Kaylah and I talked and had fun. I ordered the Taco Tuesday shrimp tacos special for only $2.50 a taco and Kaylah got a strawberry spinach salad. We both drank Diet Coke or Pepsi whatever it was.

Kaylah was wearing a Lake of the Ozarks tshirt her husband bought her. I told her my aunt and uncle had taken me on vacation to babysit my two much younger cousins there at the Lake of the Ozarks while my aunt and uncle attended Amway seminars. She told me it was a show & her husband got it for her online

I told my daughter of the fancy resort we stayed at with pools, jacuzzis, & boat docks. My aunt and uncle had taken us all on a boat on the Lake and let me drive the speed boat a bit. It was real nice. I worked as a babysitter and had fun both. I made money. 🤑

After Kaylah and I were finished eating I payed and asked the waitress if Bridges still had teen dances for teens to dance and drink pop. She did not know. I use to be a Griffith Panther in Griffith at teen dances at Bridges dancing drinking pop.

There were alot of things that changed in Griffith but it was still a quiet quaint town.

I am glad my daughter is taking a shot at the town. I think I will be back at Grindhouse and Bridges both there in Griffith.

I plan to next time take Kaylah to China Koon Chinese restaurant out there and give them a good Ni Hoa which is hello in Chinese.

Looks like Griffith can use my good business and good Chinese Feng Shui.

Hope to be out in Griffith again soon. The town can use some money, love & goodness. So can its neighboring communities in Hammond & Gary.
