I was rewatching the show from the beginning since S3 is upon ye, and I think this is probably said before but when Wilhelm watches Simon sing for the first time, I can't help but thinking about that look of intrigue on Wilhelm's face when Vincent bullies Simon and Simon defies his rudeness by singing louder. He does not expect Simon to sing louder. He expected a rather subdued reaction from him, because since we pressed play on that episode, Wilhelm is having a subdued reaction to everything around him. He is not allowed to react to anything at all, in fact he is being punished for having a reaction in the first place.

But then he sees this boy being dismissed as a laughing stock for no reason in front of so many people, and he sings louder. Simon does exactly what Vincent says, but he is not entertaining any back-handed mockery from that guy. And Wilhelm notices that. And he is probably thinking about how badass that is, and how beautifully he sings while he turns it all in his favor like a rebel. And for the first time, Wilhelm smiles. He enjoys this little act of defiance, a picture perfect moment. In the spark of a moment, he showed Wilhelm how he can actually see the world, not how he is expected to do.

No wonder he fell in love with Simon in the end.

Messages I'm getting out of Wille's breaking 4th wall looks.

In those moment's I particularly feel that it's Wilhelm who's telling us his story. He is the narrator. What's more interesting and I would like you try this perspective - Wilhelm who is looking straight up in the camera is from the future when compared to the events we just saw on the screen. All of this happened to him, and now he's telling us his story. So the events in the series is from his past, but when he's looking us in our eyes - it feels like hes sitting next to us, in our current time.

"See? This was my life. This is how it felt like to be in this family, in this position. This is how it started".

"I felt scared. I was sad. But the determination I felt... I was in the begging of the process of getting ready to fight"

Now...

...here is the interesting part, bc it feels more like Wilhelm is looking at himself in the mirror. Then we can see the title of this series. But it doesn't have the same weight as the before ones. It's like they tried to recreate the timestamp, but they didn't build the atmosphere.

Still I feel like it's more about him, getting with his memories back to this point, to remember himself at the beginning on his way to destroy August. He's looking at himself, observing.

And the fact that he's in Erik's room, holding photo of him and August may also describe him thinking that by betraying him, August betrayed Erik. And he's even more furious now.

This whole scene - him looking back at Simon and then at us, with the little smirk. It can be seen as Wille from the future once again standing there, watching a person he loves.

"Sick, right? But eventually we've made it. There was no turning back from now."

It breaks my heart how love-deprived Wille has been, probably all his life, that he just got used to being on his own.

He was absolutely shocked that Simon actually came to save him, that someone cares about him enough to be there for him, that maybe_ just maybe_ he doesn't have to go through his grief alone.

Wilhelm lost his brother, lost the boy he loves, and became crown prince overnight, and he went through all of this alone, drowned in anxiety and without a proper support system he can rely on and trust, someone to hold him tight and help him while he can't think straight, and I never wanted to comfort-hug a character more.

"I'm just trying to be honest about my feelings. You should try it sometimes".

The first time I watched this scene, I felt hurt for Wille, I know this would've hurt me.

But I slowly realized that Simon has been trying to get Wille to be more brave and honest with himself since day one_ something that Wille desperately needed_ and I love him for that.

Simon was never content with "taking a hint" from Wille, he never agreed to just let things be, to speculations and assumptions, he wanted Wille to be straightforward, to voice his thoughts and feelings. He literally dragged that "would you like to keep me company" from him, not settling for a vague invitation.

I truly believe that Simon played a significant part in Wille's personal development (whether he realized it or not). He inspired him to be brave, to defend his feelings_ no matter how scary it might be, it will be okay.

_ I'm not trying to stop you, Simon, but it's scary.

_ I know, I'm scared too.

And it worked.

"I just wanted you to know that this is how I feel".

"Me too, I'm scared all the time, but that changes now".

Wille has finally learned that talking to himself isn't enough, and talking to his therapist isn't enough. He might be scared but he can work it out, he can still be brave and take risks and be proud of every feeling in his heart_ and it's okay to be himself, cause he will still be loved. 💜

He knew..

In all four times Wilhelm looked directly into the camera, his thoughts were overflowing_ I know what's coming my way, and I'm gonna face it.

But here_ hiding in the night, their eyes locked together, his fingers burning on Simon's skin_ he knew.

No thoughts can help him now, the sudden shift in his guts was too strong to deny, the warmth that flushed his body_ despite the thought of his cousin's bitterness and his mother's sharp eyes. He's screwed.

'cause right there, right then_ he knew the boy with strong opinions and angelic voice would turn his world on its head, and he will gladly let him.

I love all the song choices in young royals, but holy is definitely one my favorites.

Incredibly smart and powerful to choose "holy" after this scene, after Simon assured Wille that he understands his position through a discussion about religious restrictions to love.

For me it was them saying "no matter what they put in our way_ let it be religion, royalty, social class, our age, or our gender_ it will not take us away from each other".

This love is holy, we are holy. 💜

This is how fast young royals broke me, right at that moment. They wrote this speech for him. They made this TEENAGER sit there and say_ in front of the whole country_ that his family is disappointed in him.. that he is disappointed in himself.

And I instantly knew I can never leave Wille alone ever again. 💜
