Do you guys remember how kidnap fantasies were popular on wattpad because young girls and queer teens were both made to feel shame at the thought of their own sexualities, so the fantasy of being kidnapped totally against their will was a way for them to engage with a romantic or sexual fantasy without feeling morally in the wrong for doing so? Added bonus that the fantasy involved being whisked away from repressive environments like home or school, right?

Finding out that Bram Stoker was in a sexless marriage and that scholars believe that he very likely was closeted gay puts the entire book into perspective as to WHY it reads EXACTLY like a self insert wattpad Dracula kidnap fic:

Trying my hand at Zora May, hosted by @prisiidon :D The first prompt on the list was "Washed Ashore." I'd love to show off Cironus' personality since he's still a new OC of mine, and this was the first thing that popped into my head XD

One of the first things I decided for Cironus was he would be a bard and use the power of WHALE SONGS (and also his guitar is a giant whale tooth which is good for bludgeoning if he can't get those pipes warmed up in time) ;3

I'm always seeing this sentiment of "I have got to make my art weirder" or people begging for weirder art but here's the thing, Weird is not a brand. You cannot rack your brains trying to figure out the "Weird" formula. You don't get weird art by artificially forcing whatever you think is "weird." You get weird art (and I think "weird" is sometimes people groping for a way of saying non-corporatized) by figuring out what you like, deep down, even (especially) if you think it's embarrassing and wallowing in it like a pig

As a bard, Cironus uses the power of his songs to help others. I realized Mipha, Sidon and Yona all have powers that are supportive and I like that Cironus is following the pattern! Sure, he's big and he can cause a lot of damage if he needs to, but his real talent lies in his voice. I like the idea that he has different songs for different buffs or debuffs, but the louder he is the stronger the spell, so give this boy some room so he can put on a show!
