An immense amount of joy has once again come from me seeing an uncredited photo of something I wanted and then took the trouble to track down for myself.

I saw this funky little dude (photo credit to the pattern designer eleven11knits/Leanne Wilkinson which I will link to in a moment).

Isn’t he fabulous!? Isn’t he just a trustworthy tiny little man? A small boy. Friend shaped. He’s got impeccable vibes.

But then

I went to Ravelry to look for a pattern.

And discovered.

So many gnome puns.

I am delighted! Not the gnome I was looking for but look at these excellent gnomes! And their absolutely horrendous pun pattern names. Beautiful. Inspiring. But wait. There’s more

You may have noticed, by now, as I have, that these are all by the same person who shares my love of gnomes and terrible puns. Sarah Schira, wherever you are, please know that you have brought so much joy to my being. Because look at THESE

Awwwww yeah!! Gnome apparel! Outfit idea!! I want to make all of them!! And wear them outside in all my ridiculous glory!! Leave the house dressed as an army of gnomes!! Hello I am the general gnome and this is my gnome army. I am the gnome queen my people cling to me.

Getting egged on enabled by my housemate (the photo you can barely see is these socks) in a conversation that reminded me of the guilt socks mushroom socks I never finished. There are, to my immense disappointment, no mushroom slipper patterns on Ravelry but I might have to change that! Sorry guilt socks

Being bullied in my own home! Beeee gnoooooome it’s so precious !! Just! A little dude! But he’s a bee!

But then!! I found it!! The pattern I was looking for!! It’s by eleven11knits and was inspired by this tiny gnome

And here he is!!

I’m not going to take anymore pictures than the one I found uncredited and I’m also at the photo limit. But he is nine inches tall! And his name is Norman the Doorman cuz you put rocks in his bottom so he can politely hold the door for you! He’s a doorstopper and he is ADORABLE all round and pointy I am given LIFE when I look at him. +10 HP +10 STAM +10MANA I am REFRESHED.

I’m gonna enchant him to protect my house! I trust this small man with my life he is perfect.

The world really is full of silly wonderful things that make me feel so much joy. I love being alive cuz sometimes you spend three of the best hours of your week overjoyed by gnome knitting patterns and no one can stop you! Believe me my girlfriend tried lol she is not a lover of puns and while she might let me have a gnome or two I’m pretty sure she feels the same about gnomes as she feels about glitter: there is no tasteful amount of glitter. Which like. Fair. Not everything is for everyone. She can’t stifle my ridiculous fashion choices though can she! (And she wouldn’t she would just laugh if I went through the trouble of making an actual gnome outfit)

Mittens! The Simply Harika Mittens, to be exact.

The left thumb is slightly more... palm centered than the right one, but is however better knit, so in the end it all evens out.

Yarn is Viking Alpaca Storm in colourways Dark Blue (525) and Yellow (540). I think. Can’t find the banners currently, so I’m just trusting the webshop entirely.

I have also mastered the Latvian Braids now, which I feel is worthy of celebration, and also means I now will add a Latvian Braid to everything I ever knit again.

Sweater! The Browning Buck Sweater, to be exact. Second time knitting it, the first time it ended up about 4 sizes too big...

It’s my own pattern, so I could just go hog-wild and edit the things that I didn’t like during the second time around knitting it, and changes have been made.

It’s heavily inspired in its motif by valleyknits (the wilderness sweater) and loparefur (fables anima).

Four different colourways of Ístex Alafósslopi was used - Ruby Red Heather, Black Sheep Heather, Golden Heather and Wheat Heather. The Ruby Red is a substitute - I started out with Acorn, but the contrast was zero and none between that and the Black Sheep.
