They don’t need to do that. After years of controlling a narrative in the way they’ve done, the paps probably know by now that if they catch both of them in a frame together, the pictures aren’t going to sell. No one’s going to print them. 

I don’t think people quite realise how tied up these companies are with one another — Yes, to a certain extent, people are paid off. TMZ held things over Bieber’s publicists for years before anything negative was ever printed about him. I’m sure HJPR has paid off many a tabloid and photographer to keep Harry and Louis’ movements hushed. But, at the same time, there’s a certain amount of quid pro quo that goes into it: you don’t print this, we’ll get you an interview. You don’t take this photo, we’ll make sure you get a great shot of just Harry.

The best One Direction example that I can come up with is Sugarscape — Once they started printing suggestive things about Harry and Louis again after a while of following the company line, from what I can see, they had their access to the band revoked. Think about how bitter their article about the perfume launch sounded. That looks to me as though they’ve been cut off.
