For some, it makes sense that father wound healing would include unpacking religious trauma and indoctrination.
Church became like a club where we were all competing to please our angry father. Which mirrored the narcissistic family I had at home.
Of all the different kinds of abuse, spiritual abuse leaves a special kind of scar... on the soul. Someone who feels very naturally curious/inclined toward spirituality and has childhood wounds of abuse that left them "eager to please authority".... will be like a lamb tossed from one wolf to another in spiritually abusive communities. "Spiritual narcissists" are definitely a real thing... eventually you'll be so disgusted by them that you'll be forced to claim sovereignty over your own spiritual path. ✨️

All amazing points and so important to take in. I think I have done a couple of these, but not habitually or intensely. But it's good awareness for me.

If "loving yourself" seems far away, aim for treating yourself with the basic kindness and respect that you aim to treat everyone else with. Or if even that feels unrealistic, aim for not hurting and neglecting yourself. You don't have to move from 1 to 100 all at once. Just start, even if you gotta start slow, even if the journey in front of you is long. It's okay to be a work in progress. We all are, for life.

Affirmations for those who were silenced as children:
I am in an adult body now. I speak up for my inner child’s safety and well-being. I refuse to let anyone control or silence me. I deserve to speak my truth just as much as anyone else does. I refuse to speak to myself in ways that are cruel.
The way others have spoken to me in the past was a reflection of how they speak to themselves. I have the human right to protest unfair treatment. I have the human right to protest unfair criticism. I have a voice for a reason. I speak my truth freely and authentically. I refuse to own others’ projections. How others interpret/perceive what I say through their own filters is none of my business. My mouth is on my body and I use it in a way that honors the deepest parts of my being.

The more I pour into my own cup the more creative I am
The more I pour love into my own inner child the happier I am
The more I show compassion to all parts of myself the more I can access that compassion for others
The more I don’t hide things from myself the more authentic I can be around others
By focusing on myself I am setting a healthy example of self love for others
Sharing naturally from the heart will always be healthier than giving from fear, obligation or guilt
I do not give from my cup, I share from an overflow
I do not continue to share where there isn’t equal reciprocity
My yes means nothing if I don’t have the ability to say no.
My self preservation is an act of service to the world, ensuring I can share again in a more healthy and balanced way when I have recharged.

Loving myself, my child self, my past self who was in abusive relationships, shows me that even while I was being abused I was lovable. That the words they said weren't true. Your healing and self love is very offensive to your abusers, obviously .. it highlights them as the "problem".. it unravels their false narratives... it threatens their fragile delusion. It takes away their power. The more you heal the more you'll wonder how you ever found them attractive. The more you listen to yourself and speak up for yourself, you'll wonder how you survived so long being silenced. You get to a point where you just can't be silenced anymore. You can't be tortured anymore, you love yourself too much.
